American Eagle Moving & Storage

On the final (third) move, I learned that my most expensive piece of furniture was dropped & immediately taken to a shop in Cleveland for repair. After the move, I never heard from the owner again. I had to pay for the repair/delivery of the piece after already paying for my total move in full.

They are just fantastic. The three guys that did the move were great. The owner also came out to supervise and overall the experience was very pleasant.

Six weeks prior to the scheduled move, I hired American Eagle Moving & Storage. This decision was  based primarily on favorable reviews on Angie's List.  The owner, Damien Dusek, came to my apt. to provide an estimate. A contract was signed and 20% deposit of the total - $869.00 was given. In the course of the month, I called Damien with various questions. He responded within the same business day and sounded sincere and honest. The day before the move, he made a point of contacting me to assure me that he would come with a crew early in the morning. He shared that he would need to leave @noon to assist another crew but would return later in the afternoon and stay until job was completed. Less than 24 hours later, the plan changed but I was never notified. Two movers arrived 30 minutes late and had major attitude. They walked through my apt. and immediately revised the contract, refusing to move items that Damien promised "would be no problem". They were very rough in handling my furniture. I observed them bump an armchair into a doorway, knock a small end table into the wall and almost break an overhead glass light fixture. I asked them to wrap a very good wooden bedroom dresser that was brand new - recently purchased and they refused, claiming it wasn't necessary since they wrapped it on the truck, At one point, "Brian" yelled at me claiming that he knew what he was doing. I became more and more uncomfortable and a bit intimidated by his anger. After taking two loads down to the truck, I received a very distraught call from the apt. manager telling me that I had "to do something about my mover" since he swore at her when she asked him to move his van four feet forward as it was blocking one of the entrances. I asked him to do so and he argued with me claiming it was unnecessary. I then told him I wasn't asking him but insisting and he continued to refuse even after I got Damien on the phone. He refused to move it after Damien asked him and the apt. manager threatened to call the police.  By that time, I told Damien, I was uncomfortable with these men moving any more of my furnitire. The other mover, Bill became hostile and began yelling that he didn't need any of this "f'ing" crap and tore the pad off my apt door storming off towards the elevator. This was less than an hour into the move and I insisted that Damien come to the apt. and move my things off the truck. I threatened to give him a negative Angie's List rating. I insisted on a refund of my deposit. He agreed and was extremely apologetic. He promised to come to my apt. within a half hour. Almost 90 minutes later, he arrived with another mover and they returned the items to my apartment since I had already made arrangements with another company. Damien's men only moved a handful of items but my fears were confirmed. Three items were damaged including the brand new dresser.. There were large gashes in the wood. An end table had a 6 inch incision appearing to be made from a knife or sharp object. A wheel had broken off a rolling file cabinet. Damien was apologetic.  He even pointed out the gash on the end table. I insisted that he fix the damaged items. He refused to honor the refinisher from my furniture store, insisting that he would only pay for his refinisher.. He indicated in front of two witnesses that the deposit refund would be in the mail and he would personally order the replacement caster, travel to my home and repair it himself. He gave me the name of his refinisher assuring me that I would get a call from him within 48 hours. Unfortunately I believed him  but realized two days later that there were no calls or mailed checks. I began to call him and leave messages at the four telephone numbers he gave me, including his cell phone. This has gone on for the past six days and he has never responded to me in any way, shape or form. I've also contacted his woodworker who was never notified by Damien in any way. It appears that his business could be  fraudulent. I have since discovered other telephone numbers and questionable claims. He is not known to the BBB and the years that he was an award winner on Angies List is listed differently. I have attempted contact with him daily since Saturday and he has never responded. I also recently learned that he could soon go into the Angie's  List penalty box. I wish I had known this since the negative grades were not posted at the time I made moving arrangements.

Fantastic, it was very efficient.  I loved knowing how much I was going to pay, when they would arrive, and approximately how long it would take.  I can't say enough.  The owner was also very helpful and answered every question I had.  <br />

I've only used movers 1 other time, but Damian and his crew impressed me beyond expectations. Upfront communication was great. I met with him ahead of time to determine the scope of the move and price. Totally professional and he knows what people go through in a move. No surprises as they charge by the items, not the time. His team arrived right on time and went to work. They take great care, placing cushions around door frames to protect the property and items they're moving. I had a lot of antique furniture and really heavy items. All was transferred perfectly- not a scratch on anything. And these guys did it in 90 degree, late June heat! I'm writing this review 3 months after the move, and finally getting settled. If they weren't so amazing, I wouldn't have bothered. If you want it done right, this is your company. <br />

Our son was moving out of our home and into his own home.  It was a small move, just his bedroom and a couple of couches and tables, but some of the pieces were large and we needed help.  Damion was slow to get back to us when I contacted him for an estimate and was very apologetic, because his computer had broken and he had to recover some of the emails and voice messages.  After that it all ran smoothly.  He emailed me several times before the move, called the night before, the company was right on time.  The movers had everything in the van in half an hour and back out in about the same time.  Not a scratch on anything.  <br /> <br />

Have done business with AEM since 2005.  Generally pleased with service until this move.  AEM completed the move and in the process damaged a wood floor and glass table top.  Owner promised to have his repair representatives contact us to effect the repairs.  Not hearing from anyone, we made numerous (and I mean NUMEROUS) attempts to contact the owner via phone and email.  None of our messages were ever answered.  I suppose I should have withheld payment until the damages were repaired, but I ( mistakenly) thought AEM was a more trustworthy business.  Shame on me for that, and shame on AEM! <br /> <br />

This is a phenomenal company.  Very affordable and very professional.  They didn't put a single nick in a wall in either house, or in any of the furniture.  They were also very affordable.  I have never been impressed by a moving company, typically I have have only been let down.  I am a retired Marine who has done quite a few moves.  I can easily say that Damien and his team are head-and-shoulders about anyone i have worked with in the past.

I called several movers and decided on American Eagle Moving because I felt comfortable dealing with Damian the owner. Damian explained different options for our move that made sense to us. I liked that he gave us a price for everything complete for the move. Other companies charge by the hour and said our move would be between 4 hrs and 6 hrs? that.  American Eagle had one charge for the move and did it in 3 1/2 hours. I would highly recommend them.

I was impressed with Damien and American Eagle from the moment I contacted them (after reviewing companies on Angie's List). I called about a month before the move, contacted 4 companies and American Eagle was the only one that offered me an overall estimate based on the stuff we wanted moved, not an hourly rate. I was impressed with that and liked the quote so we choose them to be our movers. <br /> Once moving day weekend came around, I realized we had a lot more boxes than estimated. It was Sunday, and so I couldn't call ahead of time to explain...I was hoping that they would be ok with it. When Damien and crew arrived, I explained the situation and he showed me the new estimate w/ the total boxes. Even the new total (original  quote was $537 with a Angie's list discount), it was around the same and lower than the "other" guys I contacted initially. <br />  As far as the move went - the guys were fast in both loading and unloading. I was very impressed, and they never complained - even when it was discovered that the tenant across the hall from us was ALSO moving and they had to share the elavator w/ another crew. Will definitely reccomend them to anyone in the future - fair pricing, professional and quick...they definitely made moving day a lot less stressful! <br />

Damien was a pleasure to work with.  Before the move, he provided professional quotes via email, which clearly outlined what I was paying for and what kind of insurance was provided.  The moving crew showed up on time, and they were friendly and courteous.  They moved some very heavy, bulky and awkward pieces of furniture for me.  They did it all without damaging my furniture (including a piano) and without damaging either of the two houses involved.  They were quiet, too, which mainly matters because the move was scheduled for so early on a Saturday morning.  They completed the move in much less time than I had anticipated.  Everything went smoothly.  Afterwards, Damien even gave me some pointers on hooking up my washer/dryer and some other really useful tips!  I would definitely use them again in the future and will recommend them to others. 

From the first call to this company I could not have been happier. They were responsive, prompt and fair in their initial visit to estimate the cost of our move. They answered questions clearly and gave us all of our estimates in writing. The day of the move they arrived at the time promised. The job took longer than estimated but they completed it and maintained a sense of humor throughout. They delivered our belongings the next morning in Rochester. Everything was well cared for, there were no issues with damage. I had one question later about a possible problem; Damien called me back promptly and would have made it right had the fault been theirs. Can't recommend this company highly enough. We have moved 7 times previously to this and had had issues in the past.

It was stress-free and made moving so much easier.

The decision to use American Eagle was the best decision I could have made.After dealing with a very stressful week of packing ,working and dealing with a parent with dementia and planning a move I was beside myself I called American Eagle and was told not to worry the move would go smoothly and stress free and it did.They were on time, reasonable,pleasant,polite and professiona.l The move went very well and stress free just as he said it would.I highly recomend them and would use them again in a heartbeat. I am very very happy.

I first called American Eagle Moving & Storage for a quote. Damien, the company owner, immediately came over that day and quoted me a price which I thought was reasonable. <br /> On the day of the move Damien and his crew arrived right on time and took great care loading my belongings. They provided wardrobe boxes for my hanging clothes and packed and unpacked them. They packed my flat screen tvs as well and took apart and assembled the beds. <br /> I can not say enough about how nice and professional Damien and his crew Joel and Brian were. They made my move the most pleasant and worry free move I have ever have. I highly recommend American Eagle and do not think there is a moving company out there that can top my experience. <br /> <br /> Update: I forgot to add that the day of the move it was pouring rain. Damien and crew laid down mats throughout the house to keep the white carpeting from getting wet and dirty.

The owner Damian handled the quote and the move.  He was very easy to work with and his quote was considerably better than others we had obtained.  His crew was professional and everything went very well.  We have already scheduled for them to move some other items from a different location.  They were referred by two freind who were also very happy with American Eagle's services.  I liked the fact that they quote final price, rather than based on how much time the move ends up taking.

I found them on Angie's List and they did a good job. I will use them again in the future.

Arrived on time as requested. This was a time sensitive move and they were able to accomodate us in a very short time. Very professional, courteous and helpful and did all work as promised. A very good experience.

I was amazed with the whole experiance !!!

This was the easiest moving experience I have ever had.  Damian and his crew were punctual, professional, and communicated well with me.  On Saturday they first emptied my storage unit, even though some items were not packed very well.  Then they came to my third floor apartment and emptied everything there that was ready to go.  The crew was efficient and patient and very friendly. <br /> <br /> The plan was to deliver my things the following Monday.  Damian kept in touch with me so I knew when they would arrive (they left Cleveland at 4:30 a.m. so that they would arrive early in the day).  Everything went beautifully.  The items were delivered carefully, with no damage, and they again were exceedingly patient as I decided where everything need to go in my two-floor townhouse.  The place was brand new, so there was a lot of dirt and sawdust around, but the crew was very careful to protect the townhouse and not track anything inside.   <br /> <br /> Damian and his guys are the best - I highly recommend American Eagle Moving & Storage!

They were wonderful. They were very careful, personable and punctual. The men were very nice gentlemen.

The experience could not have been better. I was very impressed with everything that he did.
