The technician arrived 45 minutes past the end of the 3 hour window I was given, with no one calling to notify me of the delay. Also, the technician didn't call when he was on his way, as he was supposed to do.. More importantly, I was seriously gouged on price. The technician told me my motor would need tuning, which would cost $150. I naively thought that for $150, this would involve a complicated process of taking it apart and repairing it. Instead, it only meant adjusting two knobs, which took about five minutes. He also lubed my garage door. There is no way this service should have cost anywhere close to $150.

I am very happy with the service Greg provided. The garage door springs snapped after 6:00 pm. Greg was able to come the same evening and do a quality job replacing the springs, finding cracked hinges and replacing them, and also finding a roller that had to be replaced as well. Greg is very professional, nice, and a courteous gentleman. Would highly recommend him to anyone who would happen to be in a similar situation I was in on Monday evening. Thanks much, Greg!

I cannot say enough about the professionalism and performance of this vendor. Showed up on time, was prompt in attacking the work, gave excellent and comprehensive explanation of what the findings were and what the alternatives were. My only hesitation about an unqualified recommendation is that the repairman was unwilling (quite understandable, though considering our litigious society) to help me evaluate the possibility of an identified risk actually occurring, This led to me opting for replacement of every part which was identified as having any potential issue, which doubled the cost of the work. However, I have to say that I am completely satisfied with the resulting installation. It is great! I highly recommend this vendor.

The provider in this case "Garage Door Service" came in to fix my garage door which was not opening. The repair guy named James arrived and inspected and said the springs has to be replaced. <br /> The price quoted for the job of replacing garage door springs and tune up is about $475 more than the 3 other angies list credited companies that I spoke with( I got quotes of $300 for spring replace & install) while I ended up paying $775 for just replacing the springs. Unfortunately, I had already signed the estimate before the repair guy James started the work as I had no idea how much this usually costs. I then spoke to similar/better reviewed angies listed companies and they quoted $300 for the exact same job. After completion, when I requested him to adjust the pricing to make it market rate he shrugged his shoulders and said we are an "expensive" company. He kept on "educating" me with analogies of McDonalds vs Five guys and Cadillac vs Toyota which after a point was very annoying to say the least. When I asked him about customer satisfaction he said he went beyond my expectations by fixing the safety eye for "free" (all he did was tape the safety eye using a electric tape). <br /> He added "Motor Service" in my the work order which was of $199 and he said we will fix the sound that was coming out of the motor - all he did was lubricated them and tightened the bolts. He said I would have to replaced gears (additional $200 or replace motor for $600) to eliminate the sound. In the end,the noise from the motor did not go and I paid $199 for nothing! <br /> After payment, I left a feedback message for the customer service to redress my grievances and they called me back. They kept me on hold for around 20 minutes and went over my invoice. The customer rep kept saying these are "standardized" pricing and was NOT able to explain me the difference between the "installation charges for each spring ($185-$195)" and the "Torsion system re-intallation ($269)". She again brought in the analogies of red lobster vs McDonalds and agreed they are an expensive company. She initially offered me $75 refund on the invoice and later ended up offering $175 discount to hold back my review. I declined the offer as I do NOT want anyone else to go through the rough morning that I had to go through thanks to these guys. <br /> I am totally disappointed with the service and even after repeated requests to be fair to the customer and charge what the services are truly worth all I got from the repair guy/customer rep was that we stand behind our service and you cannot ask for a discount after eating burger at Five guys! (Enough with the analogies!) <br />

<p>Provider called ahead, as promised, to give us time to meet them at home. The technician was prompt, professional, courteous, and personable. He explained what needed to be done, and where there were options, what our options were and the costs. Of the $1118 total bill, approx. $700 was for parts/tax and the balance was for labor/service. The work took the technician about an hour and 20 minutes. </p> <br />

It was a horrible experience. I had asked for an estimate on the phone but deftly was turned down. <br /> When the tech (Dominic) showed up he said the $89 spring change "special" was not valid, it was not really for the main spring on the door. While a new opener had been put in less than a year ago and at that time the door had been conditioned by another door service vendor, Dominic proceeded to tell me that the door, rollers, cables all needed to be changed. I told him the door used to work fine and I just wanted the spring changed. He began to change the spring and my mistake was to not ask if the coupon special was valid. I assumed it was. <br /> After he had started the job he said the spring cost was $329 but he could give me the second one for $200 and the labor would be $200. So I was looking at $700+ for two springs to be changed. <br /> When I told him that $329 for a spring was preposterous, that the online price for the same spring (250x2x32) of good quality was $41 on the internet he "agreed" to give me a discount and sell me the first spring for $200 and $125 for the labor. While I still knew I was being gouged esp. for the spring price I reluctantly agreed as by that time the rod had been dismantled. He spent 50 minutes in all and left. Total cost $342.49 to change one spring. <br /> Within a week the right hand side of the door was not closing completely. There was a triangular gap at the bottom. The door was not balanced. In 18 days (today) the door would not close. So I called the 415 number and was given the rude treatment that all parts of the door were faulty and that they would not come out and provide the warranty service. <br /> My complaint: <br /> ---------------- <br /> 1. Deceptive advertising practices. <br /> 2. Pricing for commonly available parts is beyond reason and then a "discount" is applied to mollify the customer. <br /> 3. Company operates under multiple generic names. Difficult to check who it is and cross check reviews. <br /> 4. Company does not stand by its own warranty, that warranty is not worth the paper it is written on. <br /> 5. Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior on the phone. <br /> 6. Be careful! Mis-leading sales tactic(s). They do (eventually) show up, but charge you an arm and a leg to get work done. Sales rep consistently said that I could get a quote from the technician while they were in route -- completely lied in the process. Did not mention an $89 just to show up fee. Technician called and said that they could only quote work after looking at the spring . Ended up charging me 2X how much other friends of mine have gotten their springs replaced for. Even with the buy one get one half off deal. <br /> Would have rated higher had the sales rep not been shady when talking with me. <br />

Punctual, professional job. Upsold me on new rollers which I accepted as the old ones were very noisy. Advised on changing springs as well but I resisted that, would have been extra $600. It seems that many of the Angie's List offers are just to get through your door, do a small job and then sell you more. I have no problem with that, just need to be careful what extra work to accept and what not. Overall I was satisfied with this job. <br />
