xame in with nice attitude swearing he would do his best. Started the job on a Saturday left that night saying he would be back the next day. He did not return for two more days. The tiles in the kitchen are uneven you cannot walk in there barefoot The cereamic title were never sealed as promised.
He lest hole in the room with the hardwood and after at least ren calls to him he will not answer the phone. There is molding not put in place.
The worse is the kitchen. You nan get hurt walling of the floor. All I wanted was it fixed he bluntly told me he was not coming back to fix any of the problem Please go somewhere else if you want work done Very unprofessional Just call my Van to fix the problem and seal the kitchen floor and nail down the wood on the boarder Why you do this to me when you promised never to do a bad job. This is terrible job Carole in South Philly 1036 Tree Street 19148 215-339-0307 Now you cannot say you do not gave the information The only nice man is Vans father but the job is still a bad bad job
Van was very quick and responsive. The whole process took 3 days. We were very satisfied with the service in the beginning. I need to mention that our floors were in horrible shape with multiple holes throughout the house. He closed the holes and did patching work. But after the job was done and we got into the house we noticed a number of issues. Living room floor had some areas where the polish wasn't spread evenly and it dried out in lumps. It looked like somebody spilled something on our floors (it was basically lumps of dry polish).
Upstairs floors were not evenly sanded and we still have large cracks between the boards that were not filled in. Some parts are still pretty rough that i scratched my feel just by walking on the floor. I must admit that the floors were in had condition, and seemed like Van's crew didn't want to take their time to fix some old boards.
Price was good and he was very quick, but I am not sure if I will hire him again. I might do it if I have better floors to begin with.

it went great. Van was on time and did great work. Did a good job explaining what I could and couldn't do. The floors look great. This was actually the second time I used his service - he did the floors on the 2nd floor as well. Highly recommend him.

My kitchen was drabbed and approximately 30 years old, a hot mess! Mr. Van gave me an excellent price! He also had good referrals for purchasing good quality cabinets; custom made and an excellent price. I researched the brand of cabinetry before I purchased them. Good quality cabinets. I had to wait 3 days after the materials were ready, before he could start. I did not mind waiting for him to start because I worked with him previously when he refinished my floors. My floors are 5 years old and look like they were done yesterday. I have had many remolding projects, trying to keep rentals up to date. To find a contractor who is good and accommodating is hard. Mr. Van was very accommodating then, and he has not change. He is still very accommodating today! He is a real easy guy to get along with, I like the flexibility. He said his crew would be at my home at 8:00, and he would be there a little later. They were there at 7:55am. Just like any contractor, he has more than one job going on the same time in order to make a living. I get it, they have families to feed also!. The quality of the work was excellent, my kitchen looks better than my sister's kitchen, who just recently paid $28,000, for her kitchen to be remolded. Every time that I called Mr. Van he answered or called me right back. I purchased a faucet and decided at the last minute, I did not like it. It just wasn't working for me. The guys stop working on that area while I went to the store and replaced it. The guy David was great, excellent tile guy. To bad he does not work on Sundays. Or I would hire him to do some small projects. The guys cleaned the kitchen nicely, but of course you have to clean your area again. I would recommend Mr. Van and crew, but if you are picky, indecisive and do not have a clue, about how you want your material laid call a designer. These guys are not designers you have to know or have a good idea about what you want and how you want it! Time is money and if you want to keep the price of the job reasonable, let them get in and out, your job will look great! In the future I am going to get my powder room done. I will let you know how it turns out. I am checking out different materials that I want in the bathroom and the look that I am trying to capture. I will let you know how it turns out. I would highly recommend him, he's in and out, just know exactly what you want done!
t

He left on Saturday saying he was coming back to finish. I left the house due to the dust. He never came back the next day. I had no place to stay. He came back Monday. The ceramic tiles are not even. He did not seal the grout so that has changed color. I hurt my feet each time I go in my kitchen because the tiles are sticking up.

He lied about the price and his work referring to Angie's List. I told him I was reporting him to Angie's List and he said he didn't care.

Part-way into the job, we just had to fire Van. He did his best from nearly the start to ensure that our experience was full of drama, bs and our experience with him was just terrible. Van had every opportunity to "do it right" and would have had tons of work with us. But he is just impossible to deal with and is not focused on a quality result or meeting his commitments.

Van is very bad at Communication. Other than the 1st day, they were always late by 45-90 minutes and didn't call or text. In fact that is a consistent trend. Do not expect Van to call or text you - at all, unless you first call or text him. His email addresses don't work. Van expects that you will chase him and handle all the scheduling and coordination. We spoke with him three times about this, and he always said "yes yes sorry I do better" - and then an entire week would pass by and we would not hear from him at all - until we called or texted him.

It took 3 weeks to get him to "mostly finish" one bathroom (it was already 50% finished when he was hired). It is still not done! All that was needed was 2 days for tile work and 1 day for grouting! They were here 4 times. it sure doesn't help to "get it done" when they start at 1030 or 1130!

The tile work would have been completed by the end of day 4. Except that Van put his personal agenda ahead of our job. Instead of allowing David to stay to finish, Van wasn't even there at all that day - or the prior day. And he called David (tile guy) and ordered him to leave our house and take his father home to get a suitcase and then to the airport. All this while our very expensive stone tiles are still Covered with Epoxy grout. Are you KIDDING ME?!

So Amy and I now have no choice at all but to spend the next several hours on our hands and knees cleaning every bit of that stuff off before it sets. Exactly - doing THEIR work for them! But there was no choice. Epoxy grout sets up fast and then can be very difficult or impossible to remove later - especially without any risk to damaging very soft mocha onyx stone tiles.

We've still got grout haze all over the shower walls but that can be cleaned up later and there are pencils that need to be installed. David made a bad cut across our ceiling edge - he was off by 1/2". So we had to spend $50 to buy pencils to fill that in, to match the area. So we'll just have to find someone else to do that install and clean up the mess that Van left behind.

What else went wrong? Things that Van had agreed to up front turned into "No - you get someone else to do that and we install". We are talking about basic proper technique! Like refusing to install any extra felt paper to smooth out any issues in the subfloor before the wood flooring would be installed. And he refused to have a LEVEL for his tile guy to install our 6' marble shower threshold. Again - are you serious?

So we bought a 4' level at our expense just so his tile guy could install the shower curb properly. David did do a nice job of this. We later found out that Van actually owns a damaged level and he won't buy a replacement. As to the felt paper and hardwood install - we decided that there was just no way that we'd award Van the hardwood job. Why would we allow him to install $3500 of very expensive exotic wood floors after the reckless way that he handled our bathroom tiles!

Our final straw was Sat Oct 19th. That's when Van forced David to walk away and leave that great big mess for us to deal with. And no choice whatsoever. It was either do their work for them (no time to hire anyone else) or allow Epoxy Grout to set up on expensive and very soft stone tiles.

What next? Did Van call or text us after David left? You guessed it - no way! We cleaned the floor over the next 2 hours and then later texted Van. H e didn't care that we had to spend our evening doing his work. And he refused to let David to come back and finish the bathroom the next day - though David had told us that he was available.

Van literally was like "we finish bathroom when we do hardwood floor". And stood totally firm on that. Van - That ship has sailed! Why would we allow you to install $4000 of exotic hardwood or anything else when you are IMPOSSIBLE to work with???

Maybe Van is ok for just refinishing existing floors. But so what! So are lots of other guys. Why hire someone who doesn't place an emphasis on quality, punctuality and communication? Van doesn't have a clue about any of that.
Installation was completed in one day. Van arrived with a crew of six and they started ripping out carpeting, preparing the floor and laying hardwood immediately. The end result was professional, the edging around the kitchen cabinets was perfectly done, so no moulding was required. A neighbor commented that the floor looks as if it was installed when the house was built.
The only reason I gave a B for responsiveness, Van does not always get back to you right away, and may require a second phone call on your part. I was pleased with everything else. Van and his crew were very diligent and hard working.
I left a very good review for the first job Van did for me in summer, but unfortunately I can’t do the same for recent work he performed in my house. Van came to do an estimate and gave me good price. On the day of installation he sent his new team that seemed to be less experienced than the previous one, to install the floor. He didn’t come to supervise them like he unusually does. When he came the next day to collect a full payment and check on the work his guys did, he said it wasn’t done right. Not only it wasn’t done right but the installers chose not to complete the work. They said they would come back to finish it the same week but I haven’t heard from them again. Before the last floor installation they also installed my new kitchen cabinets. Took them a very long time (job was spread for several weeks, although could have been completed in 2 days). After installation my new cabinets didn’t look as new any more. They were dented and scratched. Van said that he will replace scratched doors but he never did. Some things he refused to do at the end, although they were on his original list. Quite a few of my nerves were wrecked during their presence in my house, and I almost got electrocuted opening the refrigerator after they moved the socket. Now I have to hire new people to finish the floor installation and fix things Van did wrong.

At first it went ok. Van's team arrived promptly on the day they were to start and got to work. Work was "completed" approximately two days later; very fast. However, when I arrived home I noticed that the floor was sanded unevenly in some spots, and the original stain was showing through, to the point where there were long pink streaks around the edges of some boards. I immediately called Van, who, to his credit, came out on a Friday evening to inspect his crews' work. I assumed that he would see the imperfections in the floor and make it right, but as soon as he saw the floor, he claimed it was a great job. We then asked if perhaps a shiny top coat would make the floor look better, Van advised against this because "black people like shiny floors". A few minutes later, after he had ignored my wife's queries about how they were going to fix the aforementioned pink streaks, he turned to me and said "Your wife doesn't understand me, let me explain this to you" as if I have some s** engrained knowledge of flooring. His team did come back on Sunday and add a coat of high gloss, which made the floor look much nicer and hid the imperfections, however, when I asked why his team did not sand and refinish under the oven and fridge he claimed I was "asking for too much" despite the fact he had agreed to finish those parts of the floor only nights earlier. I gave up at that point and gave him the check just to be done with it. Good overall work, not very professional.

I can't say enough good things about Van. We bought a new home and were dealing with several contractors on various home repairs and improvements. Van was by far, the best. The best quality of this company is the attitude. Flexible, efficient and hard working.
I wanted him out there as soon as possible to quote the work so I called Van and he asked me to name the day. I scheduled him on the day we settled on the house. When the time of settlement moved, he said "ok, when do you want me there?". I told him I was free at present and the owner was willing to let us in prior to settlement. He met me there in under an hour. When another contractor removing wallpaper at our house refused to proceed until we ripped up carpet that apparently had some flea activity from the prior owner's pets (we had already had the house sprayed and the carpet was getting removed in the next few days), I called Van to advise of the issue since he was scheduled to be out in a few days and I wanted to avoid any more delays. Van not only didn't care but offered to come out early, rip up all of the carpet including the rooms with no hardwood underneath for an extra fee. He even offered to fix a leaky sink (?!).
The majority of our 2800 square foot house was refinished in under 5 days. They sanded, stained and applied a semi-gloss. The floors are now the best part of the house. They did a neat job and they did it quickly.
They did drink a case of my husband's beer but I think they earned it. This experience was headache-free from start to finish. I would absolutely recommend this company.
This is a great team! Van did estimate the same day I called him. He offered a good solution and gave a reasonable cost. I needed to replace floors in two rooms in my old house, which could be very tricky. They did a good professional engendered floor installation with quateround molding in one day. They cleaned the place well after messy job was done and helped to put furniture back. My place looks like a palace now. I will definitely hire them again for my upcoming projects.
We ordered wood through Lumber Liquidators and planned on using one of the recommended contractors for LL in our area. LL's execution and estimating was absolutely horrific. We came across Van on Angie's list. He did not have as many reviews as other contractors, but all of his reviews were very solid. He installed hardwood flooring at our house and refinished our neighbor's floor the same week. Our job involved tearing up tile flooring, tearing up very old linoleum, and (we asked for) additional subfloor plywood before flooring installation. Van gave us a price 20% less than the LL contractor. He also recommended that we reduce the amount of wood that the LL contractor told us to order.

Every concern we had, he addressed. We thought "this is too good to be true....", but his prices were reasonable and he was willing to do everything the way we needed. He included baseboard trim and painting and made recommendations on improving the look of our cabinets as well. The Angies List grades were good, as were his recommendations from certain contractors he used. We decided to take a chance and book him.

He and his guys were great. They estimated 2-1/2 days of work and ended staying for three. They did a fantastic job. The floors are beautiful and we saved a lot of money. He and his crew were prompt, courteous and the work was meticulous.

A couple of things happened which tested Van's customer service: First, his guys installed wood around the dishwasher which would have prevented us from removing it for maintenance. We showed him and he tore up the floor in that area and reinstalled the wood in the correct fashion immediately. Second, after he left, we noticed that there were in a small area of the kitchen floor which we thought came from on of his crew's power tools. We had already approved the work and paid Van, but didn't notice the gouges until a very sunny day. He came back at no extra charge and replaced the flooring with some additional material that we had. He was committed to ensuring that we were happy with the product.

All of his workers are very nice and polite, and work very hard. We had a great experience with Van and his crew. We highly recommend them.

Van can be somewhat difficult to understand on the phone. Don't let that deter you. He's very easy to deal with in person. We also found texting worked great for scheduling and questions.

They were very punctual. They were able to come on day after I called. When I mentioned that I found their name on Angies List he promptly replied that they honor coupon, which they did. They sealed off the room that was not being done, and eliminated dust coming into that space. The only difficulty that I had with the service, is that they were extreamly difficult to understand. The gentleman asked if I wanted a satin finish on the floor, and I replied that I did, but his satin was actually a gloss finish.
Mr. Nguyen was very nice. I called him to refinish a floor that I messed up (DIY). He was very sympathetic. He explained what went wrong without making me feel bad and even tried to convince me I could fix it. However, I was under a deadline and needed the job done by a pro. He was able to get to work in just a couple days.

The price for an 11x12 room was only $500 which included sanding to bare wood and 2 coats. He even apologized for having to charge the minimum.

Here?s the kicker. Originally, I tried to refinish three rooms (each roughly 100sf) myself. It cost me (materials, help, equipment rental and time off from work) $1600 (DIY) and at least 4 days.

I needed him to redo one of the three rooms for which charged me only $500. If I had Van Hardwood Floors do all three rooms it would have cost only $800 and taken only two days and it would have been perfect.

So I would have saved a lot of money and a lot of time if I had gotten Van?s name from Angie?s list first.

They were on time, worked quickly, were careful with furniture and job was perfect. I will definitely use them for my other hardwood floors.
Van recently refinished the floors for my entire house. The work quality was excellent and the price was very reasonable. I called him to
get an estimate when I was reaching out to get quotes from different contractors and he came out the same day to look at the job in person and price it. He was able to start soon after I hired him and had the work completed in less than a week. As he was taking up carpet in one of the rooms upstairs he uncovered two gaps in the floor where a wall used to be (but was subsequently taken down and covered up with carpet) and was able to fix the gaps with new oak planks in such a way that it is not an eyesore. The floors look amazing and I am very happy with the results.

When they were doing the work, everything went very well. They were polite and professional, and they got it done in about 2 days. However, I noticed one little piece that needed to be fixed, but when I called them they said they were busy and would get back to me, but I have't heard from them. Now I cant even reach them by phone. I've called about 4 times, and some went to voicemail, but now it just keeps ringing.
