"Better Built Basements LLC renovated my basement this past summer, installing a full bathroom, bedroom (with egress window), office and finished common area. The project went very smoothly, with great communication and follow-up. Just about everything was done to spec and on the correct timeline. At the beginning of the project we were provided a schedule, and they met almost every milestone; the entire project was completed on time, including pulling the necessary permits and passing all town inspections. We had a few change orders during the project, and they were able to work them in and still complete the project within the original time frame. The communication was phenomenal. For each phase of the project we knew who was coming to the house when, who would be in charge if there was any issue, and who we could escalate to if there were concerns. I would highly recommend them for any project. Months later we are as thrilled with the basement as we were the day it was completed. Thanks so much to the team for our wonderful finished basement."

"We are very happy with the work done by Tom Garbati and his crew. We contacted five contractors to quote the work. Tom was the only person who recommended insulating the house because were stripping all the siding off. He told us he highly recommended insulating because the 3/4" foam under the new siding would not provide the R value we were looking for. Most of the other contractors said the 3/4" foam would provide the R value. Tom had the siding and window rep come out to our house to go over the color choices and the products he would be using. All of the work was completed on schedule and on with in budget. It has been a year since the work was done and everything has held up and still looks great. We have seen a approximately 25% reduction in heating oil use compared to the previous year. Our home felt like a new place. No drafts on windy days, no chill in the air. Since this project has been completed we have contacted Tom for more work at our house and the in laws home. He has completed the work at the in laws and that project went just as smooth as ours. We would highly recommend hiring Tom. <br /> Here are a few other comments on working with Tom: <br /> Always gets back to me when I have questions, even if he already answered them. <br /> His crew was always were at the house when they said they would. <br /> His crew was very respectful while working in and around our home. My wife was home with a two month old baby and his crew was mindful that the baby might be sleeping or feeding at anytime. <br /> They cleaned up each day and at the end of the project. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"What started as a wall paper and wood board removal turned into an remove a wall and open up a stairwell project!  After discovering a compromised 17' joist, an engineer was brought in to provide a repair solution.  That's when I contacted Ed at Better Home Improvements.  The project was planned for two weeks and was done on time and on budget.  All structural work was done in the first 3 days, drywall and finishing on the last 7 days.  The site was cleaned up each night and kept orderly.  Given all the challenges of this being a farmhouse from the 1902 timeframe, they did a great job and I'm very happy with the results."

"We met with Kellie on December 1 and she anticipated a start date in late Jan. Would have been sooner except for the week or so shutdown at Wolfe cabinets for the holidays. Start day Jan 24. Of course we had snow/slush and at 6:25 am the power went out. Chris Pedersen arrives promptly - our road had not been plowed. Kellie arrives but had trouble with our unplowed road. Plumber arrives. Cabinets gone by the end of the day and upper subfloor removed (vinyl tiles need a flat surface). Jan 25 subfloor in by noon, cabinets had arrived by 11 am. I hired my neighbor Alex Hastillo (Hastillo Electric) for his attention to detail and knowledge of code requirements. Alex worked to pre-wire the kitchen for under cabinets lights and under sink outlet for dishwasher. Alex directed us to a lighting company in Norwich, CT - they were really helpful and we found the perfect lights for the kitchen. By the end of the work week - the cabinets were in as was the floor. Kellie on day one called the countertop folk to perform their laser survey of the kitchen - on Jan 31 with an install date of Feb. 9. Alas a blizzard caused a delay but the countertop was in the very next day thanks to Kellie. The project was completed on Feb 17 - 3 weeks and four days with no hiccups except for the weather. I think Kellie picked her best contractor Kris for the job. I would highly recommend Kris for a kitchen remodel - one of his favorite projects. Kris lives in Killingly. Problems - two cabinet doors with really minor damage being replaced. Warped door on pantry being replaced. One vinyl tile did not adhere properly - this was replaced. No problems since."
