"I had a tree tip because of high winds and needed a company to take it down. Oakes responded within a day to my need. Because they charged me a reasonable price and were extremely professional in completing the removal, I decided to have them take down some other trees, but primarily prune and thin out dead branches, etc. They quoted me a price that was very fair and when they came to do the job they were prompt and had a full crew to do the job. Alex, the foreman, was extremely helpful in advising me of what was going on and suggested several helpful pointers. The whole crew worked tirelessly to complete the job. They thinned out the trees, and pruned out a great deal of dead material. The result is stunning. I am happy I opted to use them and would highly recommend Oakes Tree Service to others. "These people do a good job, but 2 of them were here about 2 hours the other day cleaning windows, and the bill was $307. That’s about $75/hr for each of them. Higher hourly wages than I have ever made. They have priced themselves right out of my budget."

"Terrible customer service. It’s been 35 days since the beginning of the job and still not completed. Left multiple text (messages) and multiple phone calls to come and finish job. Was promised they would finish last week. After initial quote and payment, worked stopped in middle of job to ask for more money. Agreed to increased cost and still job was left incomplete. Do not hire!!"

"We needed 8 pine trees taken down that were all over 60ft tall. They are also boxed in by our house, our garage, the church next door, and power lines out front. The first company we called made a huge to do about this and how hard it would be to take down. I then called Lake shore and Joe came out and gave me a quote that was far cheaper and he did not seem concerned at all about the job. A week or so later they came out and took them all down and hauled it way. They left my yard cleaner then it was to start. We are very happy with the service and price and will be calling them again for any other tree needs."

"The owner Chris was very quick to come out and quote the job. I asked for a contract be written up and Chris told me he would bring one when he came back to start the job. Initially Chris and his crew worked extremely hard and did an excellent job. Because of this I made the mistake of giving Chris some (cash) money up front to help him out, feeling that he was trustworthy since his crew was so diligent and worked long hours while on the job. After a few times at my house - and his stump grinder supposedly breaking - Chris asked if I could give him more money up front because he had the opportunity to buy a used stump grinder for $2,500. At the time my family was going through 2 very serious health crises and I made the mistake of never getting the written contract, and giving him money before he had completed the job. A few days after giving him the money for the stump grinder, Chris showed up, packed up all his equipment and left without finishing the job. I've since been unable to get in touch with him either by phone (2 different numbers) or by email. I still have a few trees that need to be cut down, brush ground up, and all the stumps he contracted for to be ground down. A few of the trees that he cut down were left with their trunks very high and unsightly. Unfortunately I will eventually be hiring someone new to finish the job. Save yourself a lot of trouble and find someone else. Trustworthy people do not take advantage of others when they know they are in a vulnerable state."
