"We highly recommend J.P. McCurdy Electrical Services. We hired this exceptional shop to replace all the old knob and tube wiring (along with switching out a number of light fixtures and installing several ceiling fans) in our 120-year-old Victorian home – a challenging job that a couple of other electricians didn’t feel confident undertaking. Owner Jack McCurdy personally came to size up the job and give us a detailed estimate, and his professionalism, courtesy and extensive knowledge sold us. What was originally thought to be a two-week job was finished in six working days as foreman Joe Costain efficiently deployed his crew and brought in a second crew on a few days to expedite the work. Joe was great at communicating what kind of activity we could expect day-to-day, especially as both my wife and I are working from home fulltime during the COVID pandemic. He and the crew checked in frequently on our preferences, minimized the number of holes in the ceilings and walls (including avoiding harming our wallpaper in a couple of rooms altogether), and cleaned up well at the end of every day. Jack’s estimate was competitive and the final accounting accurately included the additions and subtractions we agreed to during the job. We feel so much better that we’ve finally eliminated the risky knob and tube wiring and updated the entire house’s electrical system. "Excellent work. Joe recommended going with a wireless switch for the basement lights to avoid having to run a long cable to the bulkhead doorway - that was a better idea than what I had originally thought. In order to find a pilot light switch for our attic (one that glows red when the lights are on - because you don't see the lights if you accidentally leave them on), he had to go to two different electrical supply stores. Joe worked very efficiently and cleaned everything up afterwards. For sure we will hire him for any future electrical needs."

"What I love about VMA is that you can get Residential electrical work quoted 2 ways: Time/Material (emergencies), or they can send a man out and quote the job. You may also take detailed pics, send it in and they can quote it that way. My old electrician they did everything old school w calling, & didn't even like emailing, but not VMA who texts, calls, and emails. 2 professional, Journeymen Electricians did 3 separate days of work last month at my house, from the VMA Residential/Service division. They replaced/installed 7 exterior lights, replaced 2 exterior outlet fixtures with Arlington housed outlet boxes, installed one new Arlington, extended light fixture wiring and 2 doorbell wires, and exchanged a transformer for a larger one, to handle the video loads from Nest and Arlo doorbell cameras. I purchased all the fixtures, & doorbell cams. They supplied the Arlington boxes. The 2 electricians were very efficient, quiet, fast and clean. They made sure fixtures were leveled, and working. One of the 4 glass sides of the exterior light fixture broke cleanly and they honestly brought it to my attention, vs just burrowing it. I just double taped it w clear packing tape, and he put the glass in the rear of the fixture so it wouldn't be seen. I didn't want that to hold up the light install, and will deal w the Amazon merchant I bought light fixtures from afterwards. I had a lot of other construction going on, and the 2 electricians were able to do a lot in the timeframe they had despite all the other noise/work/men around. They fixed cut outlet wires from a bedroom new window installation, moved an outlet 3" to accommodate a stud inserted to shore up the new window. The cut wires were a surprise, and to get the city's Wiring Inspection approved, Cindy the Svc Manager, was very helpful in getting the electricians here stat, & the Building Inspector also stat, who had a 3 wk backlog. I had VMA Electric quote me for a porch and their pricing was much better vs another electrical competitor in Marlborough. The guys are Journeymen level, so aren't outrageously priced like Master Electricians, in the same town, who I had been using. When the Residential side has a lot of work, they can smtms pull guys from the much larger Construction Division. In all, VMA had to come out 3 times, bec the work was staged in between inspections. I love their work and do not hesitate to highly recommend. Just know electricians are expensive, and it cost $2,300 total, up front for all that work. Had I used the Master electricians the bill would've likely been double, as found out they were double/triple charging me the town's Permit fees in addition to double all the same work VMA does."

"I had Harland Electric come out and check out my electrical panel due to an issue where the electric dryer kept tripping the circuit breaker. (There was water near the breaker that I observed when it did this.) I had a few other minor things I wanted to have them check at the same time. The guys (Kevin and Derek) were great and knowledgeable and recommended I replace the panel due to the corrosion. I got an e-mail from Bill Harland who gave me information on what my options were and some estimates. I asked a bunch of questions and Bill was a great help in making a final decision. I felt he was honest about his recommendation as I debated doing a more expensive upgrade and Bill felt for my situation it would be overkill. I opted for a full replacement 100amp with the feed from the outside. (My house is very small and 100 amps has always been more than sufficient) Kevin and Mike showed up on time for the appointment and did an awesome job on the replacement. The work was high quality, neat and professional. The guys were also great around the young children (2 and 5), they very friendly and even my wife was comfortable (and that's impressive). They cleaned up completely and even took care of a couple of additional things that I had hoped (but didn't expect) they'd be able to get to. There were no surprises with the bill and within the estimate (even with the extra stuff). Judy in the office was also very nice and great with setting up schedules and dealing with the deposit. I will definitely use Harland again if I need electrical work done."

"I was looking to have some work done on my condo and was hoping to use people from the Waltham area as I wanted to support local businesses and came across PW DiMasi Electric here. Peter and his team were excellent. He was very responsive and scheduled an appointment to give the estimate pretty quickly. When he came to give me the estimate for my living room he mentioned that I should probably also have my dining room light rewired as the building my condo is in is very old so more than likely the wiring was old and not in good shape. At first I thought he might be trying to drum up some extra business (because of bad past experiences with contractors) because my job was so small (it's worth mentioning that Peter was one of the few electricians that I could actually get to come to look at the job in person to give me an estimate, the others I called said the job was too small and not worth their time) but once he took the dining room light down it turns out he was absolutely right about the wiring. I am so glad he was so insistent about replacing it. His guys came right after the plasterer took the ceiling down so it would cost me less to have the work done but unfortunately because of the insulation that was in my attic they couldn't drill holes in the lath for the wiring and boxes so his guys had to go up into the attic which at the time (it was July) was boiling hot . They were always very polite and respectful of my home and did a great job cleaning up after themselves every day. They also always came when they said they would. Peter checked in every few days to be sure I was happy with the work being done. I would not hesitate to recommend using DiMasi electrical and should the need arise in the future, I would use them again."
