"It was supposed to be a simple faucet replacement but my old plumbing turned out to be incompatible with the new fixture. Seth diagnosed the problem gave me a very reasonable new price, bought new materials and solved it in short order. All done with a completely professional and friendly manner. I highly recommend SWB Plumbing."

"Very professional, went straight to work as soon as he came in and didn't take breaks. Was done in 2 hours then stayed an extra hour to take care of another issue with the drain. Very pleased with the work, looks great and will definitely hire him again if I need a plumber!"

"Found onto Evergreen on Google - Caleb answered and we diagnosed the problem over the phone. Dan was here installing a new holding tank three days later. Dan was awesome and super knowledgeable - we chatted away at all sorts of home maintenance topics. Cost was what I was quoted over the phone. Not stressing next time I have a plumbing/water quality/ heat pump problem."

"Plumbers were late I called apparent mix up in client schedule. Upon arrival two men used a motorized snake on sewer line in the basement but didn't find a problem, then used snake from sewer line exit to the road. Said they think there may be a problem 45' away from house and they wished me luck with sewer district. When I received bill I noticed charge for rental of the snake for $85. I called the office and asked why the rental fee. They said it is their snake but they charge a rental fee per use. Seemed odd to me but I learned my lesson that even with good Angie's list reviews always shop around for best prices, or just go to a rental outfit and rent a snake and do it yourself! <br />"

"Got info for Pop's plumbing off Angies list. Called them and explained that my Daughter had another conpany came out two weeks ago and they told her she had a bad problem with her heater.and not to run their furnace. After several calls the other company had not returned her calls. She informed me that she had been heating her trailer with electric space heaters. Even though we are in the middle of a cold wave and most Heating co are booked up for at least a week or more. Tracie from Pop's stop by that night (after hours) and checked out the system, made sure it was safe to run.I have never meet him but with the interaction on the phone I trust Tracie and Pop's and will use them again. <br />"

"He gave an estimate that was right on. He arrived when he said he would, worked straight through. I looked up pricing (I would have paid) for items installed (pressure tank is biggest available) and found that he was extremely reasonable on both supplies and work rates. Cleaned up completely before he left. Will use him again when needed! <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Augusta, ME

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
