"We were recommended by Gary Hart, Hartscape Company complete landscape construction to contact Andy de young first to design and provide full drawing for our entire new front yard, driveway, waterfalls, lighting, tiered water fall, seating area, specific trees, specific plants, color theme we wanted and specific placement of pillars and our address. We lived here for 31 years and ready to invest in our front yard to enjoy for many years to come. So we called Andy. Andy arrived on time and was extremely pleasant and professional. We shared with him the life style of entertaining, friendly, colorful, seating, meeting many families in our front yard and wanted it inviting and welcoming, he asked questions, took photos, and said it would take about 2 two weeks to have the design prepared. To our surprise, Andy call within one week and came back to meet with us and sit down together and go over the entire design and explain everything to us. Andy drew up a very creative design that addressed all of our needs in a design we could never have conceived by ourselves. He then drew it to scale and labelled everything. I made some changes whle we were together and he went back to his home office to make the changes and sent us a copy email the next day. I called Andy and he returned my call. I asked him if he could print out two copies of the updated design to keep and share with our family and neighbors. Andy stopped by our house two days later to deliver us two updated copies. Great service and always on time and such a professional. It was worth the investment for us. We sent the design to our landscaper Gary Hart. I have also heard from many neighbors, friends that his designs were among the best and they hoped they could be the ones to bring them to life. The bottom line is this: Andy is extremely talented. "Efrain came several times to the property so we could discuss design aspects. He was so patient with me as well as the changes I made each time before I got a quote and he started work. We had a difficult area to have work done in Venice being in the middle of the block and our back alley too small for a standard construction truck to fit. Efrain investigated and figured out the best way to get the excavated soil out as well as the pavers and road base onto the property. Efrain is a man of great character. Once work began, he and his staff were incredibly respectful of our tenants, the property, and our neighbors. He was an artist in several areas, he leveled each and every paver by hand as well as used his expertise in concrete to direct areas for water to drain from the property during rainfall. When I decided to do change orders, he didn’t take that opportunity to charge me a vast amount of money because he knew I had no choice if I wanted the work done. He and his staff always cleaned up after themselves and made sure no one would be in danger of walking across an unsafe area. "First and foremost, Pete and his crew are all good guys, courteous, pleasant to talk with, and very hard working. No doubt about it, they know their stuff! Their concrete work is second to none. The finished product is some of the best I've seen. There were two minor issues. One, they damaged a Honeysuckle that was goring over the water spigot trying to access the water spigot. Partly my fault, Knowing how much water it takes for concrete finishing work, I should have pointed it out on the first day. I had to hack down almost all of bush/vines to free the wire trestle to bend the trestle back into shape. Also while they were rooting around for the hose bib they knocked off of the control box for my auto-watering system. A quick reconnect of the control box and all was well. The Honeysuckle has recovered nicely. So... Initially frustrating, in the long run, no harm. Two is he quoted me $3,800.00 for the job. On the day before the pour he told me he ordered a higher grade of concrete and asked for $200.00 more. Now, from my perspective (both professionally and personally) an additional 5.5% on a change order is not unexpected and reasonable so I said fine, no problem. That ate the tip I had planned on giving them anyway so it didn't cost me any more than I planned. And I got a concrete pad I can park an M1A2 Abrams on should the need arise. I highly recommend them. In fact, when I can afford it, I will call Pete back to do my driveway... This time I'll show him where the hose bib is from the front. :-)"
