"Jason and his crew did an excellent job. Julio, the lead installer, is just an amazingly conscientious guy. I made drawings of the bathroom layout and where I wanted everything, including measurements. Julio and I conferred every step of the way and worked out any glitches as the job progressed. All of the work was done in a meticulous way. FBT and their subcontractors provided most of the labor and I provided most of the items to be installed including vanity, vanity top, wall cabinet, vanity mirror, vanity lighting, under cabinet lighting, LED ceiling lights, ceiling exhaust heater/fan, duct grill, power outlet covers, switches, paint, and floating shower bench. I chose the plumbing, bathroom fixtures, and tile and FBT ordered them and made sure they were on site at the right time. Frank gave me a few excellent suggestions including a linear drain to span the entire back wall of my walk-in shower. Other contractors had proposed a smaller drain, but my experience since the installation indicates Frank was correct. Bottom line, FBT did an excellent job with few hiccups. Friends and family who have seen the bathroom just raved about it. Thanks again to Frank, Jason, and the whole FBT project team. I am very happy with the finished product."

"Dave is absolutely terrific.  This is the 4th time I have used him for re-modeling work and I was not disappointed.  His workmanship is first rate.  He pays meticulous attention to detail, which is especially important in tiling work.  His carpentry work is equally well done.  He is very innovative and can offer excellent suggestions on how to improve your basic re-modeling concepts.  He is totally responsive to the customer.  He will do whatever you want him to do and change whatever you want him to change.  He does not argue with you or try to make you feel like you're an idiot when you ask a question or propose an idea (like some contractors and most car mechanics).  He tries to figure out how to make what you want happen.  He is extremely knowledgeable about the full scope of his profession, including all code requirements.  He does not cut corners and is just as concerned about getting the stuff you don't see right as he is about getting the stuff you see right.  He is totally honest and up front about all his work and his costs.  The cost of this particular project (or projects) did increase but that was because the project evolved.  He was completely up-front about costs as the project evolved.  In some cases the costs increased because he found rotting pipes behind the walls (shoddy materials used by the builder) and other hidden problems.  He showed me those problems and explained the costs in both material and time.  He is completely trustworthy.  I had no qualms about giving him the ability to let himself into my house and work there alone.  I have never had a problem.  He is very careful about cleaning up after himself too.  Despite the major work being done my house was still livable and presentable enough for me to have guests.  Dave is a one-man contractor show which allows him to be totally flexible in meeting your needs, to give you a great price and to work with a focus on quality and getting the job done right rather than paying attention to a clock or the calendar.  The only drawback with Dave being a one-man show is that he has no real back-up.  If he gets sick or his truck breaks down or he has to deal with a family issue, there is no one to come and substitute for him.  So there is a need for his customers to be flexible when working with him.  Everything always gets done and it always gets done to perfection but, depending on the type of job it is, it may take longer than either you or Dave originally planned.  He is also sometimes hard to get in touch with because he's running in so many directions.  Persistence pays off though.  That said, if you want a contractor who is totally trustworthy and does absolutely superior work at an excellent price, there is no better guy to call than Dave.  I will definitely continue to use him for any home remodeling needs.    <br />"

"Project went very well. Steve was incredibly responsive to messages and e-mails. Since the work was being done at a rental property coordination of site visits are always a little harder then normal but Steve handled it very well and was professional all of the time. Steve showed up when he said he would (for both the estimate visit and ultimately when he did the repair work to the kitchen cabinets and installed the new ventilation hood). I would definitely use him and his firm again for projects in the house."

"Flooring and plumber contractors did really good work.  The drywall/painting team worked hard and fast; they did an excellent job on the drywall, but the paint had drips left in many areas.  Easy enough for me to fix, but annoying when you have professionals come out.  Overall I was really happy with the service they provided. <br />"

"Craig helped me with the information to put the claim in with the insurance and he thought of including items I wouldn't have thought of. He did a fantastic job on the table top and didn't have to even refinish the leaf. The chairs had to be recovered and they looked just like new. He brought a lot of fabric samples so we could do everything in our home. He picked the items up on a Saturday and delivered them on Sunday for our convenience with no delivery charge. He was so nice and so professional. I would definitely recommend him to friends and use his services again."

"The counter top is beautiful, and the work went well. The installers and plumber worked together to get the job done, and cleaned up after themselves. They also worked with the company we had shim up the cabinets so that everything was done the day before and ready for the install. They left instructions on how to care for the new material. <br /> The counter top is really beautiful. We are very happy with the material and the work. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Banco, VA

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
