He even explained to me what he was doing at each step, so I could see and understand his process of installation, including sealing the door into the frame, and maximizing the insulation around it. He was also very thorough in discussing lock options for our doors, and helping me choose the most secure locks for our home. "Affordable Home Repairs-Sam Cannella Do not hire this contractor. His work is good but his personality is very unprofessional. He belittled me, made me feel stupid and incompetent, complained about everything, only worked 3-4 hours a day and overcharged. An example of his personality . His van leaks oil. He asked me to lay down cardboard in my driveway so his van did not leak oil on the driveway- which was thoughtful. However, one day I did not put the cardboard exactly right. He got of his van and hit his fist twice on the side of his van. It was not my responsibility as a customer to provide cardboard for the van. He should have brought the cardboard with him and put in the spot he wanted. He complained I did not have beverages on hand for him. Not my responsibility to provide beverage to contractors. Told me that he was using his tools to complete my projects. Every contractor I have hired has always provided their own tools. That is part of the job. Not sure why he even made the comment. He also told said and I quote Well knowing you, you do not care how things look. First of all that is not a comment you make to a customer. Second, I would not be trying to fixing up the house if I did not care how things looked. Sam is honest and supplied me with his tax number. He agreed to replace the ceiling fan he had installed (because it was wobbly) with a ceiling light. I told him I would pay for the light if he would install for free. When I l left a text message (because I wanted in writing) to state I had purchased the light and I wanted to confirm I was not going to be charged. Sam replied (actual statement) Why do you feel the need to remind me on things?? Do you think I just started yesterday? Being a single lady, I have used contractors for over 20 years and have never had a problem with one until Sam. My other contractors always treated me with respect; in fact, several of them have become friends. I am nervous about posting this review that Sam will vandalize the outside of my house. If I have any damage, he will be the first one I suspect."

"When the handyman came over we were led to believe the cost would be much lower than what we had to pay for when the work was done. While I will admit that I didn't see the email they later sent us after some days about the total cost, but from the conversation we had when he came over he wasn't upfront that the cost would most likely be about twice much then what he suggested at the time hence the review."

"Estimate 1800 plus materials. Did not smooth the walls in the bedroom, moulding by doors not complete just left it undone. The bathroom the lvp floor moves up and down not level, the floor at door will not stay down and cut wrong toilet was never bolted to the floor, when medicine cabinet came out the patching was horrendous, the vanity not fully against the wall the moulding is blocking it from resting against the wall , the faucet the done backwards all messed up they reworked and fixed it. The p-trap we purchased never used but took they installed flexible pipe AND CUT the metal plumbing and put a flexible drain pipe when the shelf could've been notched or removed to enable the code plumbing. Toilet paper holder they struggled with because the patch job with the old recessed holder that was removed. They couldn't put the tp holder on. The threshold had absolutely no idea how to cut and fit granted the one we bought was wrong was told I can make it work. They paused my remodel due to they had other jobs they set up before mine and that's not right finish one before moving on to the next... they left a mess, had to get all the paint that was dropped smudged all over my original hard wood floor, I had to repatch the bathroom cause it literally looked like shit. My husband is going to get a plumber to redo the bathroom sink drain and still have to figure out how to get the tp holder installed when there is no drywall to attach it too it's all spackle patched. To me cut alot of corners. I constantly had to clean everytime they left. Oh I almost forgot the dimmer switch he fried cause he doesn't know how to do electrical , had to buy a new dimmer switch and get an electrician in to fix that, the light that was installed will eventually be redone because the box was supposed to be anchored to a stud not drywall and a jumper wire to the house wiring but it's behind the box so it's not serviceable. When the electrician was out for the dimmer the wires were never capped either. Fire hazard... The trim is not flush with walls 1/8 to 1/4 gap took our supplies with him when he left the job I never signed a contract only got an estimate and he wanted to be paid I have alot of texts which one even states I shouldn't have taken on this project. My home bathroom is not to code according to the village of schaumburg ...."
