"I was looking for a company to put turf down at my property through Angie’s List. I was contacted by John Listage from All Pro Landscaping. He convinced me that hydro-seeding was the way to go instead of turf. We made the following agreement: All Pro Landscaping would clean up, mulch and plant new plants in the gardens. They would make sure the irrigation system was working. They agreed to plant an adult Christmas palm in the front yard and hydroseed all the open ground area and straighten the rocks in the front along the property edges. We agreed on the total amount of $4,000, for the complete project, $1,000 to be paid the day he started the job. My first concern started on day one of the job when John asked me to send him $1,500 instead of the $1,000, we had agreed upon. I have the texts to support this. I reminded him that we had agreed to $1,000. John then agreed that yes, he was wrong and that it was only $1,000. He then asked me to Zelle the money to Teneilla Stults instead of to himself or All Pro Landscaping which was another red flag. I did as John asked and sent the $1,000 through Zelle. John then contacted me again at the end of day one, August 15th and said that everything was removed from the flower beds and that they had been treated and that tomorrow, August 16th he would do the planting and put new mulch in the gardens as well as do the hydroseeding of the property. I asked John to make sure that the large bush that was in the front was trimmed back and the pavers were removed in the back of the house when he returned to do the hydroseeding. He agreed that those items would be taken care of. On day two August 16th, John told me that the job was complete. The gardens had been cleaned up and replanted. The sprinkler system was operational, the Christmas Palm was planted and the hydroseeding was complete. I had asked John to send a video of him doing the hydroseeding as he was doing it as this was one of the main reasons I hired him. He did not send a video of the hydroseeding. I had a friend go to my property and check on the project as I am currently in Rochester, NY and was unable to go and check for myself. He made a video call with me to show me the progress. The gardens had been cleared, and new mulch was added. The rocks around the road edge had been moved some but were not straight as was requested. There was a small bush planted in the front yard instead of the Christmas Palm that I had asked for. The large bush in the front had not been cut back as requested. The ground that was supposed to be hydroseeded had not been raked and no hydroseeding was evident. My friend said that it looked like maybe some seed had been tossed on the ground. I called John upset and said that the job was not complete. I told him that the pavers hadn’t been removed, the large bush in front had not been trimmed back and that a small bush had been planted in front instead of the adult Christmas Palm we had agreed upon. I also told him that it did not look like any hydroseeding had been done. John became very angry and asked if I was calling him a liar. I told him that I wanted him to go back to the property and complete the job. After some discussion he agreed that he would have his crew finish the things that I had requested. I asked him where the pictures and the video that he had promised with each step of the project were. He said I sent the video. I told him that I had not received any video or pictures from him. I asked him if he had even set foot back on my property during the project and he said he did not have to because he had full faith in his crew. John was very rude and disrespectful. I told him I would not send any more money until he finished the job. He sent his crew out again and replaced the small bush in front and planted the requested Christmas Palm, trimmed the large bush, but not as much as I had asked. Removed the pavers but did not fill in the holes where they had been. John also sent a video that looked like the type of hydroseeding you do with a hose for patch repairs, not really showing the equipment only a small amount of greenish looking liquid that you could see when it hit the sidewalk but could not see it on the ground at all. I called John once again with my concerns, and he again became very angry. He wanted me to send him the remainder of the money for the job. I told him that I was not comfortable with the hydroseeding and that I would send payment when I saw that grass was actually growing which usually takes 5-10 days with hydroseeding. We had some back-and-forth discussion, and I agreed to send him $2000 for the work that had been done, and I told him that I would hold back $1,000 until I saw if the hydroseeded areas began to grow grass. I sent $2,000 to Teneilla Stults again through Zelle as he had requested. When he received the $2,000, John called me again calling me names and threatening that if I held back the $1,000 that something just might happen to all the plants that had been planted and that maybe some weed killer would get to close to the plants and the Palm tree that had been planted. I told him to calm down. I would send the remaining $1,000 as soon as the grass sprouted and I felt comfortable that he had in fact hydroseeded properly. He continued to be upset. He then said just keep the $1,000 and called me some more names. I kept repeating that if the grass did in fact grow, I would be happy to send the remaining balance of $1,000. He was so angry at that point that he said that he would come and rip out every plant that was planted if I sent the money. He was very irrational at this point. I again repeated that if the grass in fact grew, I would send him the $1,000. I then hung up."
