"I have used Di Scala General Contractors for many different projects over the years - interior painting, finishing a basement, building a deck, mowing, plowing and most recently a living room renovation. This family room renovation involved tearing out wood paneling, installing drywall, rerouting radiators and building built-in bookcases. The crews are always diligent, careful, clean and polite. I highly recommend Di Scala General Contracting."

"Our lawn was a mess .. despite fertilizing and liming and seeding for years it was a weedy crabgrass mess. We interviewed 5 groups and TLM was our top choice. They didn’t offer the same old fertilizing schedule and instead told about slicing first. He was so meticulous in his work. Now people stop us when walking by the house to comment on the green carpet "

"I chose to use Cand B Landscaping because of the many positive reviews on Angie's List. Pus, they are located close to our town. While most of the work was done in a very satisfactory manor, we did have issues with the reseeding job Crystal and her partner did. Rather than putting down high quality grass seed appropriate for our lawn, they used a contractor's mix that (a) grew too quickly, (b) was the wrong color green (so it didn't match our existing lawn), and (c) contained a lot of weeds. Despite following the watering instructions Crystal gave us, the new grass patches grew in horribly. This work was originally done in the spring of 2012. In the fall of 2012, we asked Crystal to reseed the areas again - this time using a nice fescue/bluegrass/rye mix. While Crystal agreed to do this work for us at no charge, it was performed so late in the fall that the grass seed never had a chance to grow before cool temperatures took over. I'd still recommend that others use Cand B Landscaping, since they perform good work at a good price. But if you're asking them to reseed for you, make sure they're using a high quality grass mix! <br />"

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Beacon Falls, CT

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
