"Working with API Roofing was a great experience and exceeded my expectations. I obtained nine quotes for replacing my roof. When API Roofing came out, they checked the roof and the attic, explaining everything they saw and what I could expect if they were selected to replace the roof. They were not the lowest bid, but the quote included a higher grade of roofing shingles than other roofers had provided. The crew arrived on time each day, and while it took most of three days to complete the job, the end result was a beautiful new roof (with new ridge vents) and an interaction that was professional, informative, knowledgeable, competent and straightforward. All the quotes I received were from highly rated companies on various “platforms”, and the API experience proved to be a true reflection of those ratings. We heartily recommend using API; you can be guaranteed total customer satisfaction throughout the process and with the final product. "

"Excellent work! At least 1/3 of my roof on the north side had a great deal of moss on it. On much of the rest of the roof there were small amounts of moss along the bottom edge of shingles, and there were patches in scattered places on the main part of the shingles. After Hector and his son cleaned the roof, it looked brand new. They removed plants and furniture from our deck before the job and replaced them after the job. They even did a light washing of the vinyl siding of the house, which was outside the agreed-upon scope of work, but they did not charge me for it. As a former member of a site safety office in a then-Fortune 50 company, I was particularly impressed with the excellent precautions they took to insure their safety on the roof during the job. Hector’s 27+ years of experience was evident in every aspect of the job. I plan to bring him back in a year for annual maintenance. I definitely recommend No More Dirty Roofs to any home owner needing roof cleaning."

"Very well. We were informed on a regular basis when the work would start and when the supplies dumpster and other items would arrive. Once everything arrived, the Lonestar staff began the process of removing the old siding and replacing it with the new siding. Partly through the process, the new storm doors were installed. All of this took about 10 days. The staff were very attentive to detail and really took pride in their work. Finally, the new gutters were installed. All in all, a job well done."

"Classic Construction did outstanding work on our home. They resided our entire home with Hardie Plank siding, to include all the trim, fascia boards, gutters, shutters and re-wrapped our windows. We also had them redo our screened in porch. It transformed our house and it looks brand new. The skill and craftsmanship of their team was outstanding and they were very reasonable on their costs. Jordan Skinner was great to work with on the project and he is very knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations to improve the appearance of our home."

"I contacted N. Chasen and Son to replace our shutters. While working on the quote for the shutters via email, a wind storm tore some trim off our house, so I asked if they could include that as part of the work (as well as replacing some siding and a louver). They sent someone out the next week to check the shutter dimensions and determine what was needed for the trim, siding, and louver. They suggested repainting the louvers instead of replacing, and sent me a quote for all the work and to get it scheduled. On the scheduled date, Marcus was on time and very friendly. He walked me through everything they were going to do and explained that the shutters were on backorder and would be in later in the week, but he replaced the trim and painted one of the louvers (he needed a longer ladder for the second). He had to return a few times to finish the work, but he made sure it was all completed and the quality is fantastic. I'm very pleased with my experience with N. Chasen and Son and will definitely hire again when I have need."

"Called Crown 2 months ago to get my drip edge re-done and a new gutter, waited a month calling them every so often to see when I can get scheduled and never got scheduled. Finally they called one morning with a 2 hour heads up saying they can come out, no one was home and would have liked a little more of a heads up for scheduling because needed to put up the dogs. Waited another month and finally called them again and the project manager came out within a few days earlier this week. They installed the gutter, but did not address the drip edge which was the main issue, rain would cause a leak on and under the siding and this was known by them from the start. Also the work order included gutter guards, I of course got no gutter guards. Also both downspouts leak...can't make this up. Called to inform them of this a few days ago, did not get a call back. Called the project manager and left voicemail, did not get a call back. I was polite and patient throughout the entire process too, could've easily lost my cool but didn't. Had to pay another contractor to fix the drip edge and they came immediately and fixed it today, wish I had used them from the start."

"Was given dates 6/15 - 6/19 and the work was completed by 6/17. Everything was done professionally the workers arrived by 8:30 each day and completed their days work by 5, and I am more than satisfied with the quality of the work and the professionalism. If I had any questions they were addressed within a reasonable amount of time. I received my quote for the work by email which was great I paid the first half of the payment up front on that same email, and when the work was complete I received an email and the remainder of the total cost was transacted on that email. I would recommend them highly!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Beaverdam, VA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
