"Electrical and plumbing were subcontracted and I have no complaint on their work. However for the work this contractor performed.....It started out okay, complimented his work... But by the time the last of the porch repair and the bathroom reno was completed I realised I had made a huge error of judgement. He insisted in starting the porch work in the fall and then over the winter. When the ground thawed in the spring and the supports no longer met the concrete footing blocks, he used rigid foam boards to shim the concrete blocks up to meet the posts. The floorboards had been removed and proper footings could have been sunk below the frost line, instead it had to be jury rigged and as the ground heave sin the winter and thaws back down, I expect it to be only a matter of time before the folly of this becomes apparent and I will have to get a competent contractor in to fix it. The bathroom was to have a radiant heat floor put in, but the system installed is not meant to be used in a wet room. There is baseboard heat with a pipe running through the floor and that was "sealed" with a piece of moulding and if there is any problem with the heater or the pipe breaks it is harder to get to, nevermind just being able to clean it. I was concerned over the floor system and he promised me that a letter would be coming from the manufacturer saying the system was safe as installed. I spoke to a company rep and they cannot sign off on an installation that they did not witness. So I am unable to recommend this contractor based on any sense I have of his integrity. I am back to using a space heater and When I am able to I will have to have the floor taken up and the correct system put in. There are numerous other minor things, such as the laminate floor being laid with no regard to the pattern on the boards so the same pattern piece was used 3 times next to each other. I did look up how to install this type of floor and found plenty of instructive videos saying how the boards are usually separated by pattern and then laid down in such a way to be random and give the illusion of real wood. The result on my floor does not demonstrate to me an attention to detail. The light over the shower, an upgraded ceiling fan, an additional outlet or two were all part of the plan but were never installed. There were assertions like a new outlet would have cost $400. I checked with the electrician myself and was told that was not the price they would charge and did not understand why that would have been quoted. When issues were raised it was mentioned that he had a lien on someone's house who didn't want to pay for their finished projects. So, there is a lot of work to redo and since the money isn't there I will have to live with things as they are for a while. Not the result I was expecting after 6 months (way beyond the estimated time) of work having been done and at no small expense. I will try to post photos to illustrate what I have mentioned above."

Since the 90's I've been repairing things around the home. I've worked on things from lawn mowers to gutters, if its around the house I've probably repaired it. In the 90's as a kid I mainly performed landscaping services but, over time this escalated into general repairs like fixing a leaky sink. from 2000 to 2013 I got a bit more serious and started a computer repair business. My repair business taught me a lot about customer satisfaction and how important it is to be thorough. During the time when I wasn't running my computer repair Shop I worked as a painter/carpenter part time. I ended up getting more calls to repair things like missing shingles on a roof or damaged trim on a someones garage.I figured with all the requests to repair things around the home I should become a contractor. I decided to go back to school and get a degree in business. I graduated with a 3.74 GPA and went to work. For the past few years I have been taking on more serious projects and I haven't had a dissatisfied customer yet. I love pleasing people and I love seeing the results of my projects. I thrive for building and repairing things. And someday I hope my work recognized by many.

Dryer repair services FAQs

Methods used by contractors to repair drywall depends on the specific damage. Repairing holes in the wall involves clearing away loose debris, applying a patch or joint compound, and smoothing and sanding it over. Larger holes may require wooden or metal supports, new drywall pieces, tape, and compound.

Sheetrock® is the registered brand name for a type of drywall used in home construction, and it serves as a standard surface material for interior walls. The name is used interchangeably with drywall. Contractors repair Sheetrock in the same manner as generic drywall, applying quality patching materials. The cost to repair Sheetrock is about $12 to $20 per sheet and is comparable to the cost of repairing drywall since it uses the same patching materials. The actual sheets cost more than their generic counterparts, depending on panel size, type, and thickness.

There are several signs of water damage in drywall. Water stains, for example, can appear as yellow, brown, or black stains on the surface and grow larger as the moisture permeates the materials. Musty or moldy odors, peeling paint or wallpaper, and sagging or bulging are also often accompanied by moisture problems.

A handyperson can repair minor drywall damage on standard surfaces. However, if your wall is constructed from plaster or brick or there is extensive damage, hiring a mason or drywall contractor with specialized training is essential. Choosing the right professional based on the wall’s construction ensures a professional and lasting repair.

Hiring a painter for minor drywall damage is an option when the imperfections are limited to surface blemishes. Painters have the expertise to apply quality patching and refinishing that can restore the wall’s look. However, if the damage affects the integrity of the drywall or involves deeper structural issues, hire a drywall repair specialist who can make sure the repair is durable and blends into your wall.
