"Patriot installed a new roof on my home just before we bought the home. In the first winter, we noticed a leak in the patio roof. It took us a while to figure out who had installed the roof, but finally got a hold of patriot in early spring. Once I got a hold of them, it took me 2 months and lots of phone calls to get someone to come out to look at the roof. This was at the start of covid, so that would have been fine, except: When the contractor came out, he did so without appointment and without calling ahead. Just showed up. He did some work, and left. Then the leak got worse! After another few months of talking with patriot they told me they’re trying to find a replacement contractor for the guy who did the work. But eventually, they sent him back out anyway (MONTHS LATER), and he said “the slope is too low, shingles won’t work. You need a roll-top”. I said, do whatever needs to be done - Patriot just installed this roof… So he took measurements and left. After another month of not hearing from them, I couldn’t get ahold of patriot, so I reached out to the contractor directly. He said that patriot instructed him that the patio is not covered by their warranty. They NEVER said this to me before and NEVER called me to discuss it. So I got a hold of the patriot office who said “sorry, we just interviewed someone for his replacement”. But then the business manager called me to confirm that it’s not under warranty because it “wasn’t part of the original contract with the previous homeowner who installed the roof”. How that’s possible, I’m not sure since it's a brand new roof, but that’s their claim. I asked why after months of back and forth this is the first time I’m hearing this, she said “well, covid… we finally looked at your paperwork”. (That's right, they sent out a contractor twice without "looking at the paperwork"). I pushed, and asked why a contractor had come out multiple times without ever telling me it’s not covered or ever given me a quote, to which she replied “the contractor told you yesterday…”. And then she went on to DEFEND why they had done such a great job trying to take care of me as a customer. All the while, not once did they actually call me. Every step of the way was me calling them over and over again. It's now the end of the summer on a problem we tried to address in early spring, and now I have to start from scratch calling a new roofing company who actually understands customer service. Do NOT use patriot roofing for your needs."

"Handyman for Hire did a fantastic job on turning a sunroom into a master closet/dressing room for me. They had to remove and replace windows, close in one side wall and install floor to ceiling wardrobes. The team that worked at my house were knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I have already gotten a quote from them for the next project on my list. I am beyond happy and pleased with the work they did!!"

"Mr. Cross came out to measure and give an estimate at the arranged time. He was very professional, asked a lot of questions, and made very reasonable suggestions. When we agreed to have his company do the work, he directed me to the business where they purchased materials so I could select a shingle style and color. His crew showed up promptly on the day and time agreed upon for the work.  The work was completed in a timely manner, and the workers were courteous and professional. The roof looks great! The workers also did an excellent job cleaning up. No shingle pieces, paper, or roofing tacks were left behind. <br /> <br />"

"Triple P is a professional company in all aspects of their work.  They inspected our roof thoroughly, gave us an estimate, and did not pressure us to make a decision.  Once we contracted with them to replace our roof they scheduled the job and kept to their schedule (although there was a mix-up on when the materials would be delivered-- nothing serious).  They showed up about 7:30 am and finished the entire job by 6:30 pm.  They cleaned up everything, leaving our yard and deck cleaner than they had been before the job.  A new roof job just doesn't have the cache of a new kitchen or bath remodel, but Triple P did such a nice job and gave us such a stress-free experience that we were actually excited about the new roof.  It looks great! <br />"

"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Bossier City, LA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
