"We recently expanded a deck, added a patio cover, and are putting a hot tub underneath this second floor deck. There was a concrete patio below the existing deck and we wanted to match that, w/ reinforcement for a hot tub. We got a couple bids for the job. Danny was the estimator that came out for Forest and he seemed knowledgeable and was punctual and professional. It was not the cheapest bid, but the company is much more well established than a couple others we consulted so I put more trust in their work. Rigo is the guy we needed to work with on scheduling etc. for concrete work. This was a little rocky at first, but that had a lot to do with us needing to postpone the start till our deck was done, but then also work around a vacation we'd be taking, and make sure the concrete had enough time to cure before our hot tub is dropped. Despite a slight language barrier, we worked it out and even managed to get it done ahead of when we originally scheduled it. Punctuality is impressive with these guys. For 3 days they were waiting outside our house to start at 7:30am precisely. They had to remove a portion of fence and work around some foliage for access. They ended up encountering an unexpected drainage tube of some kind while digging and made sure to create an access point for us if it's ever needed in the future. The concrete looks great and matches our old patio so well, it's hard to tell they weren't poured together. Danny and I (and later Rigo) discussed treating the old concrete to help the matching. At the end of the work they did a great job of cleaning up the area and returning everything to normal. Rigo also helped us by showing us how to remove the fence portion for when our hot tub is delivered and left the top cap off because he said we'd really struggle to get it off if they put it back. I'm happy with the work, communication, and cleanup and trust if there are any problems I will be able to get them resolved. If we have further landscape needs in the future I will def be calling Forest for a bid."

"We hired System Pavers to replace our front entry patio and walkway. The crew worked extremely hard, but seemed rushed at times. The quality overall is good, but a little more attention to the smaller finish details could have been paid (evenness of brick border, finish on edge of bricks, better application and cleanup of grouting sand, recommendations for surrounding drainage). Overall, happy with results, but really have had no follow-up from project team."

"Overall, it went well. They came into the middle of a project and brought it to completion. The team was professional, timely, and consulted with me as they installed the wall, i.e. location of boulders. We have had many compliments on it and look forward to working on plantings in the spring. The two little issues are that the grass came in a bit thin (we were going into fall) and the muddy areas above the wall. A lot of the excavating had been done by someone else. Although All Pro took three dump trucks away, it wasnt' quite enough. Our soil has a lot of clay in it, which is very muddy. All in all, the did a great job and i would hire them again."

Customers say: Quality work

"My husband and I are so impressed with Ruben and his crew. We hired them to build our retaining walls and landscape the front yard of our new build and put sprinklers and lawn in the back. We gave him a photo of the look and feel we were going for and let him have at it. When we came back to see the finished front yard, we were so impressed that we hired them to go ahead and landscape the backyard as well instead of just doing the sprinklers and lawn. Ruben and his crew were very thoughtful not only about what plants/trees/shrubs they chose, but also about the placement and positioning of them and even the direction the trees and shrubs are facing to make sure everything looks its best. We are so happy with both the quality of the work and how quickly it was completed that we have already given his number to several others that are looking for landscapers."

"My home had two pathways on the north and south sides of our house that we had put in ourselves. The north pathway (rock & cement) was very uneven and moss had made it slick over time. The south pathway was a gravel path with circular cement steppingstones where the stones had shifted position over time. There was also a cement slab off the driveway leading to the gravel path. Both the north and south pathways were uneven to walk on or move anything across its surface. After 29 years, it was time to replace both pathways. I happened to encounter System Pavers at the Portland Outdoor Living Show and contacted them. Design consultant, Lidiana, kept her appointment promptly, she was friendly, and provided good selection choices, lots of examples, and brochures on how I could redesign the pathways. I liked the fact that System Pavers seemed very professional, reliable, and willing to guarantee their work and paving projects. Therefore, I proceeded with signing up for the pathways to be replaced by System Pavers. It was about a week or so later that the project manager, Matt, came out to assess and verify the plans and measurements initially done by Lidiana. I encountered delays in scheduling (a week later from what was originally scheduled) so I had to reschedule all my appointments in order to clear my schedule so I could be available for the crew while the construction was in progress. I wanted to be on-site at home in case there were any questions. The materials for the job were delivered on a Wednesday to my driveway, several days in advance of the work starting, and I was concerned about the materials (i.e. theft concern) since the crew didn’t start until the following Monday. Once the entire project was completed, there were about 2-1/2 pallets of materials leftover that the crew advised were going to the “dump” and I was asked if I wanted any of the leftover material. For this reason, I question why too much material was ordered considering both the design consultant and project manager took measurements of the existing pathways before ordering the materials for the pathways project. I was NOT credited for the excess materials. Which is why I am giving a rating of 4 not 5 stars. The 3-man System Pavers crew started on a Monday and took a week to complete both pathways by the end of the week on Friday. The crew’s start times varied at the start of the week but by mid-week they started about 8am. The crew worked very hard and even worked in the pouring rain on one of the days. From lifting and removing the old steppingstones & gravel, using a jack hammer to remove the old concrete and rock path, removing the dirt & gravel, etc.; the crew did a great job of tearing up and removing the old paths. Then the 3-man crew worked tirelessly to install the layers (gravel, cement, mesh, bricks, polymer sand, etc.) to build both north and south pathways. The crew tried their best to clean up the rocks, dirt, and debris on my driveway as best as they could. Herman even did a great job in moving two of the sprinkler heads so they would be out of the pathway to make for a more aesthetic appearance. I appreciate the crew answering my questions (i.e. Rodger) and being very accommodating to my requests while the work was in progress. Project Manager, Matt L. was very professional. He ensured that the crew did not disrupt or cut any underground cables nor damage sprinklers in place. It gave me peace of mind knowing he was on top of that. He responded to my “text” questions promptly every step of the project. I’m ecstatic about the look of the new pathways… they both look fantastic!! The new pathways really improve the look of the yard. What a relief too, to finally be able to walk on an “even” path. I’m so glad I had System Pavers replace the pathways. Overall, I’m very pleased with the new pathways and the quality of their work. I would recommend System Pavers for their paving work."

"During my course of researching for the most competent concrete and masonry contractor in the Portland/Wilsonville area, I began asking neighbors in the community for referrals. The name “All About Concrete and Masonry” came up again and again. Not only that, but neighbors were happy to showcase Ron's work for me. Because a previous concrete contractor had poured a concrete patio up against the cedar siding of my home, the siding had dry-rotted! Also, my brick pillars were failing. I needed to know what my options were from a knowledgeable concrete and masonry professional! I telephoned Ron. Ron was prompt, knowledgeable, pleasant and down to earth. He explained my options thoroughly, and provided estimates for various options. On the day the first of the jobs was scheduled, Ron and his crew arrived ready to go to work! I found Ron's crew to be super hard-working and conscientious! When the work was completed, the crew cleaned up the area to perfection. In my book All About Concrete and Masonry is the best, hands-down! Since then, I have had Ron and his crew do all of my masonry and concrete repairs. When the time comes to replace my concrete driveway, I plan to select 'pavers', and All About Concrete and Masonry will without a doubt be my #1choice to do the job!"

"My yard/garden was a disaster. Three-foot tall, out-of-control, weeds, unusable backyard because of sloping, dead lawn, Zero landscaping (to name just a few issues). My neighbors have been nice for many, many years to not complain, but my yard needed major help. Tony came out to consult with my ideas/plans for the area. He listened to what I was thinking and gave helpful advice. Affordable Quality Landscape did an amazing job. Tony and his crew spent 6-7 full days here. Yard clean up, digging out bamboo roots that had spread all over the backyard (although there were only 6 visible bamboo stalks). Leveled out the soil, and added a retaining wall and root blocking material to reduce the spread of bamboo in the future (the bamboo had jumped over from the neighbor's yard). They build a beautiful paver patio (honestly, it's a nice small patio--a professional job); laydown a ton (probably true in weight) of river rock along the side of the house, back and front. Installed edging to prevent the river rock spreading. FYI, I have one of those narrow lot, two story (newer) homes you see popping up all over the Portland Metro. The crew also built a paver pad for me to put my garbage and recycling bins (that before were left on top of dirt/bark). Finally, they laid new sod for the small front yard (about 10'x10'--small enough that I don't feel too bad about the lawn's water consumption). I'll have Affordable Quality Landscape back in autumn, after the summer heat, to add plantings and trees. Note: Originally, I wanted to do work during the summer of 2021, but I waited too late (July) to contact Tony... they were already booked through September. This year, I called in early May."

FAQs for interlocking pavers for patios, walks & steps installation projects in Brightwood, OR

To calculate your paver needs:

  • Determine how many pavers cover a square foot.

  • Determine how many square feet you need.

  • Add an additional 10% to 20% for breakage and waste.

  • Consider your pavers’ sizes.

Or, you can hire a local pro who you know will get the right measurements the first time. This way, you get your weekend back instead of spending it measuring square footage.

A pallet of pavers costs $300 to $700 on average, and each pallet covers 56 square feet. The exact price depends on the type, size, and quantity of pavers you choose. Buying in bulk can sometimes offer additional savings, especially for larger projects. Ask your pro how you can save on material costs.

To get the best prices on pavers:

  • Hire a professional landscaper: Pros often receive discounts on materials, which can make hiring them more cost-effective overall.

  • Shop at local building supply stores: Check for overstock or bulk purchase deals. Bulk purchasing can be more costly up front but save you money in the long run.

  • Buy directly from manufacturers: Purchasing from a local brickyard or paver factory can offer competitive prices, especially for large quantities.

The main difference between driveway pavers and patio pavers is their load-bearing capacity. Driveway pavers are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, whereas patio pavers aren’t suitable for such heavy loads. You can use driveway pavers for a patio, but using patio pavers for a driveway could lead to damage. Always check the weight limits of pavers and consult with a professional installer to choose the right type for your project.

Paver patios cost more than concrete patios because the materials and installation methods require advanced techniques and skilled labor. They deliver enhanced aesthetic appeal and allow for easier small‑scale repairs without affecting property taxes. The higher expense arises from premium paver materials and intricate installation processes that deliver long‑lasting durability and design flexibility. This robust solution provides notable benefits over concrete alternatives, making it a valuable investment for homeowners.
