"The tree was between two power lines and had lots of rotten limbs hanging over the house. I'm impressed they got it down and only knocked over the mailbox. The stump removal was a little less impressive. Left plenty of roots (and a little bit over the surface), but took a couple of chunks out of the driveway. Still all around great tree removal service! <3"

"We had a large water oak fall on our home. The Smith brothers were at my house within an hour of the initial contact, and they offered a very fair price to remove the fallen portion as well as the remainder of the tree that was still standing. They treated this as an emergency job, and were able to break me into their schedule. By the early afternoon, the tree was off the house and cut up. The next day, they were able to come back with a larger crew and knock out the remainder, including stump grinding and removal. There is literally no sign that a tree ever stood here. Throughout the process, I was impressed by their professionalism, efficiency, and the care they took to prevent further damage. It takes a lot of experience and skill to safely remove a tree as large as this one right next to a house, and the same goes for removing a tree that's already fallen on a house. I highly recommend Smith's services."

"Lightning struck our large pecan tree in the back yard. We called Oasis Tree Care and they were very responsive. Thomas came out the following day, assessed the situation, gave us a fair price and scheduled the work for early the next week. He realized that our tree was badly damaged and could pose a hazard, so he re-arranged his schedule to give us priority. In the meantime, we decided that another of our large trees really needed to be removed, as well, so we called him back and he gave us a fair price for removal of the second tree, as well.
He came out when he said he would, emailed us pictures of the progress while we were at work, called several times to communicate what was going on, and followed up with us that evening to make sure the work was satisfactory.
The work included tree removal, grinding the stump, hauling away all debris, and cleaning up the area. We were very pleased with the work.

"Dean brought extra help and lots of plywood to avoid rutting the yard. First tree went well. The second tree top fell in the wrong place and did minor damage. I had watched Dean give instructions to his men before the tree topping, and the guy at the top screwed up. I got with Dean and settled on damage compensation.

Other minor problems: They didn't put plywood under the truck exhaust and browned one big patch of grass . . . it will come back quickly. Dean drove off the plywood late in the day . . . he was impatient. He dug a 10-foot rut. The guys filled the rut with debris and dirt, but the damage was really unnecessary . . . he had the plywood right there.

I gave Dean good grades in this review. He is no worse, and no better, than most services, but his price is lower."

"These guys came and expertly removed this problematic and tricky tree. They came out on the Friday before the July 4th holiday and removed this tree with artistry. It fell at the only possible angle to not damage anything else. Mr. Hayes not only ground up the stump from the felled tree, but also a large one next to it! The crew raked up all debris and leveled out the topography. Mr. Hayes is very polite, personable and professional. I so appreciated the service that I offered him some figs from my tree. As I was retrieving them, Mr. Hayes actually brought his stump grinder to another part of my property and ground up three or four other stumps left over from Hurricane Gustav. All this without my asking, and without a charge. . . . other than some figs! The next morning my driveway was flowing with water. An irrigation pipe had burst. I called Mr. Hayes and on July 3 he came out with a crew. There really is some question as to whether or not the tree removal caused this break (nothing else had gone on in the yard the day before), but I was mightily impressed that he'd come back out so quickly. Mr. Hayes said he'd return Sunday July 4 and try to fix it. He did not return, but it was a holiday."

FAQs for tree stump removal projects in Burnside, LA

Always transport chainsaws with the engine off and chain brake engaged. Use the protective bar cover provided by the rental company to prevent accidental contact with the cutting chain. Position the chainsaw securely in your vehicle to prevent movement during transit, ideally in a truck bed or trunk rather than the passenger compartment.

For gas models, ensure the fuel cap is tight and position the saw to minimize potential leakage. Keep the chainsaw away from passengers and other items that could be damaged.

Proper safety equipment is essential when operating any chainsaw. At minimum, you should have eye protection (safety glasses or a face shield), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), cut-resistant gloves, chainsaw chaps or pants, and sturdy boots with good traction.

Many rental facilities offer basic safety kits alongside chainsaw rentals. If you'll be using chainsaws regularly, investing in quality personal safety gear is advisable. Never operate a chainsaw without appropriate protective equipment, regardless of the job size.

While rental companies will rent chainsaws to beginners, inexperience significantly increases safety risks. If you've never used a chainsaw before, request a demonstration from the rental staff and thoroughly review the operator's manual before starting. Begin with smaller, more manageable cutting tasks to build comfort with the tool's operation.

For significant cutting jobs, consider either taking a chainsaw safety course first or hiring professionals instead. The learning curve for safe chainsaw operation is steep, and caution is paramount.

If mechanical problems develop during your rental, immediately cease operation and contact the rental company. Most reputable rental businesses will either provide a replacement chainsaw or repair the equipment if the breakdown resulted from normal use rather than misuse. Document the issue with photographs when possible and maintain records of when you reported the problem.

Having your rental agreement readily available when you call will expedite the resolution process. The rental company should adjust your rental period to account for any downtime.
