"Hector responded quickly, asked questions and gave a reasonable quote over the phone. He scheduled the install for the next morning. He was on time and despite finding a few unexpected issues with the old plumbing he finished the job quickly and without opening the walls. He and his tech were professional, friendly and thoroughly cleaned up the area. The new fixtures look awesome and I would definitely hire HB Plumbing again. "

"We found JMB Plumbing & Construction to be OUTSTANDING! They do it all—plumbing, carpentry, electrical, flooring, painting, HVAC repair or replacement, full kitchen or bathroom remodels, miscellaneous repairs, and more—for a fair price. We have and do STRONGLY recommend them to our FRENDS and now to YOU. John Barrera, his team of men and his subcontractors are capable of doing any type of plumbing or construction work necessary to repair or improve one’s home. John and all his people were professional and courteous while doing their work. They started promptly on the days and at the times agreed to in advance. The quality of their work was excellent with great attention to detail—we watched carefully! All of these attributes and qualities are provided at a fair price, based on our post-completion time-and-materials analyses of the three rounds of work they did for us. We look forward to working with John and his team to maintain and further improve our home as the need arises."

"The last time he came in, he could not do the work like I said he cannot do overhead neck work. So, he had to refer me someone else. I had the service last 6 months ago and it the cost was just like $200. They are caring, reasonable, kindly, and did the work at everything you needed repair. I think that some plumbers are outrageous. They have never seen Mr. Rooter or something. I actually had to replace a sewer line which I had a year ago. And they still come out for $5, $ 6, $7, or horrible it was. And then, within the day, they cut it half, and then I ended giving it for half of that. They try to just tell people how it is really serious and I do not do anything like that. If you have been dealing your book, it should not be on that. But there is certain out of stuff that you would not get. I am really satisfied and even the second time that I called, they came out right away, and the things you need, cannot do this, etc. Those guys are bit older and okay but I do not think he is happy with the kind of work I have in my older home. It is not as simple as that."

"I had a water hammer noise in the house for several years. Carey Creech correctly diagnosed a defective water pressure regulator, easily installed a new regulator and the noise was finally gone. He was pleasant, professional and punctual. His extensive experience and knowledge was very helpful in solving an annoying problem that I had not been able to remedy for years. <br />"

"We went to Decorative Plumbing and Diane went through all the options and helped us pick everything out. In a couple of cases she went looking through catalogs to find things that exactly meet our needs. They then delivered, for the low price of $10 per delivery, everything to our house. Everything went well and was delivered in a timely manner. For the couple of things there were problems with, they took care of it. They were a real pleasure to work with."

"My heat pump installations couldn't have been done better - if I could give them more stars, I would. They proposed the right solution at a good price, and then proceeded to over-deliver in many ways. Every action that was taken was done on time, as planned, and with nice additional touches. For instance, when they needed in light in our basement, rather than brining in a portable light, they installed a light fixture for them to use, and for me to have in the future."

"Very smoothly. Called for service and water heater installed the next day. David and Josh were on time, masked, worked swiftly but carefully. They were pleasant, made sure all installations were done carefully and made sure there were no leaks or missed connections."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Capitola, CA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
