"We had a few glitches along the way, but Matthew was the consummate professional in handling the project even though it was not his center of expertise. When it comes time to fix the pitched parts of our roof, he will be the only one I call. Thank you Avco."

"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

"We have used Premier Construction several times over the last four years, on projects ranging from a couple of thousand dollars to well into the six figures. The owner James Grant always follows up with a final walk through no matter the size of the project to insure the quality is up to Premier’s standards and we as a customer are happy with the end result. We have used various contractors in the past that have required constant contact and supervision to insure they show up as scheduled and do the work as promised. A remodel or repair you are having done at your home should not become your new job once you hire a contractor. Premier’s people show up when they are supposed to and complete the work as promised down to the smallest detail. HIGHLY RECOMMEND"

"Victor , the owner, answered our phone call and came over within the hour to inspect our roof. He could not see any visible damage on the roof itself and made an appointment to return the following morning . He explained he wanted to inspect the roof from within our attic. He said to do the work properly ,this was the best way. The house is older and the crawl space in the attic is very tight. .This certainly was not an easy task but he did it with a smile and assured us this was the best way to insure getting  the job done correctly. He  did not want to tear off shingles that were not causing the issue .We had two other roofing companies inspect our roof  prior to calling Victor and they said there was not anything wrong with our roof. They did not even discuss entering the attic to get to the root of the problem.Victor went well beyond the effort the other two companies were willing to go. Victor flagged the areas he need to work on by using tacks he hammered up through the attic. He gave us a very fair price, went to the store and purchased the shingles, tore off and replaced the shines, cleaned up and told us to call anytime with a question or concern. This was all done that day. Rain was forecast the following day and he wanted to get it done for us before the deluge . He was wonderful and we felt immediately at ease and in good hands. He cared about his craftsmanship and his word ! We will call him again for any roofing needs in the future. We also asked him to give us recommendations for some other work that needs to be done around the house. If he recommends someone, I am sure they are also exemplary tradesmen. <br />"

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"Out of 5 roofing companies I called, Cloud Roofing had the lowest estimate.  Their estimator was professional and immediately gave me an estimate which was also the amount I paid.  They did no unnecessary repairs.  The roof was replaced in 2 days and they did a good job cleaning up.  They were very professional and my roof looks great and I recommend them. <br />"

"We are extremely satisfied with the whole experience.  The office personnel were very helpful scheduling both an estimate and installation times.  Mr. Bailey and his crew were on time, very professional, hard-working and left the job site clean and undamaged.  The pricing was fair and they stood by the estimate even with an unexpected change in material prices.  All of the work was done well and very quickly.  This company is a pleasure to work with.  I will recommend them highly and often. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Carthage, TX

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
