"We had an old shingle roof removed and replaced with a new metal seamless roof. We also had our chimney removed, and gutters replaced. Our project manager was very responsive and upfront about the entire process. It ended up being about 4 days of work, and photos were taken throughout the process to show any additional damages and repairs. I feel Precise did an honest, thorough, respectful and quality job. The new roof and gutters look amazing. We are very satisfied with the work."

"Robert came out on time, provided a fair estimate and offered lots of advice on repair items not all related to the roof. His crew was very professional, did good work and cleaned up the site nicely."

"This was my first time using this company and I am very pleased that they were the first company I called when I noticed that my roof was leaking. Bryon was the service representative that came out and inspected our roof, and he was very thorough, pleasant and very detailed when he explained the pictures he took of our roof and the process of submitting the claim to the insurance company. He even came out and spoke to the insurance company on our behalf to submit the initial claim, and he came out and inspected the roof again with the insurance adjuster. Any questions that we had during the process, Bryon was their to answer. He represented the company well. This was my first insurance claim and I was very happy that I had Bryon and the rest of the Roof Medic staff to assist me, and to make the insurance claim process easy. Roof Medic really did the majority of the work with the insurance company to make sure that my roof was paid for in full. The day of the roof installation the roofers came out bright and early, and completed the roof without any problems. They took plenty of pictures throughout the installation process and made certain that I walked the property with them after the installation was complete. Roof Medic really made this process effortless. Thank you for being such a great company, and I wish you many more years of success."

"From the first call back to the final walk through the folks at On Tops Roofing were professional and easy to work with. We had checked other roofers and had good impressions of them but decided on On Tops Roofing for multiple reasons including price and how quickly they were able to start the work. We asked for some items that weren't in the original quote and they agreed to all of our requests with no reluctance at all. The project manager was very responsive and easy to work with. The only issue I had was some wood siding was damaged when they had to pull it from the house to install step flashing. The siding was old and needed to be replaced anyway so the damage just prompted us to move that project up on our priority list. All in all, we're very happy with the work that was done and would recommend them to anyone who needs roofing work performed."

"Dave was great! He was easy to reach via phone and email. He came out to inspect our roof first (based on a few things our home inspector had noticed). He explained why fixing the flashing now would save us money in the future (it could cause larger issues), and he came over to fix it 1 week later. He did a great job, and he lives nearby - a plus for us if there are anymore issues! I'd recommend Dave to any friends in need of roof repair, and we'd certainly use him again if we have any additional issues with our roof."

"Carolina Roofing and Gutters did an excellent job! They found rot behind some of our fascia board and brought it to our attention and then repaired it at an excellent price point, same day. I really appreciate the extra lengths they went to in order to do the job right when they could have put new fascia board and gutters and we would have never known the difference. Thank you, Carolina Roofing. We will definitely call again if/when we need future work. A+."

"Recently, Southern National reached out to me and informed that my roof might need to be replaced. I setup an initial estimate, and was given a well informed breakdown and cost of what needed to be done with my roof. Brandon Blasko walked me through the whole process that Southern National had to offer, he was able to answer any question I had and was able to breakdown what the roof should cost and all the components the roof. After we talked, I was able schedule quickly. The crew arrived on time and was able to finish the roof in one day. The crew even cleaned and scanned the yard for any nails or debris. I love the new roof and I would recommend Southern National to all my friends and family."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Cary, NC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
