"Ultra-Green merged with ExperiGreen to become my lawn care experts. I called ExperiGreen because I received a bill without notice that they had come. I spoke to Trisha who checked their records and said the technician was there. I asked her if the next time he came if he would leave a stake in the yard, put his name on the bill, and the time he serviced my lawn and she said sure. I informed her I was home and didn't see him or hear him. She said not a problem. She stated he could come back if I liked, but she didn't want to over fertilized the grass causing it to become distressed. I told her that wasn't necessary. She told me she documented my concerns so that they could be adhered to on the next visit. Trisha was very patience with me, I didn't feel like she was trying to get me off the phone. She really made me feel like a valued customer. She then connected me with Austin Borkowski to ask him about whether or not I needed to have my lawn Aerated and which type I should get. Austin was very knowledgeable and addressed all of my questions. He viewed my account and informed me of all the notes Trisha had put in my account. Austin told me he thought the liquid aeration would work well on my lawn. So, I had him put me on the schedule, although I thought they were a little expensive Austin promised me a lush green lawn next year and said he had no problem with his company coming back out until I was satisfied. He definitely knows his job well and made me feel like a value customer. ExperiGreen is my number one chose and I would definitely recommend them for your lawncare. They see you as a person and not just a number. Kudos to ExperiGreen Lawncare."

"I called on Saturday morning expecting to have someone come out the following week. Mike arrived within the hour! He opened up the main line (which has never been opened) and used the snake to move through the line to the street. A giant root ball is in the line out in the front yard. I was there the whole time; Mike explained the situation and showed me what he was able to pull out. Then the scary news: excavation in the front yard, removal of the section of pipe that contains the blockage and installation of a cap so that routing in the future can be done easily. Total charge: $3,800.00 with half paid today. Will be back on Monday 03/14 to begin work in yard. I was definitely happy with the work done so far and thought about getting another estimate but based on the ratings, promptness and knowledge from Mike I'll stick with Hannah. I'll update once the work is finished!

UPDATE 04/21/12 I just realized i didn't update regarding the work done in our yard. Mike and his partner came out the next day and parked a backhoe in our yard, which meant he would be back on Monday as promised. Monday morning they both came and began digging out the spot. They put plywood down on the grass to hold the excavated dirt! It took two days and Mike showed me the damaged pipe. He replaced it and refilled the hole. Other than the pile of dirt, there was no evidence that work had been done on the remaining lawn. He explained that we needed to let the dirt settle for a few months before we removed the mound. We did so and reseeded, looks great. it was expensive but it had to be done and i would recommend them any day!

UPDATE 05/06/15 The plumbing for our kitchen sink was leaking so we had Hannah come in and reroute the whole thing (they also said it wasn't code as the previous owners had done the work themselves). The two guys that came out explained the problem and reworked the plumbing. It was done quickly and cleanly and the price was what was expected. The two guys were great, friendly and efficient. Use this company!!!"

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Chicago, IL

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
