"Salem painting is fantastic!! Calling them to paint our 2700 sf house interior in August 2025 was a great decision. Corey and his team did an amazing job painting our ceilings, trim, walls, and doors. Corey offered suggestions and guided us through the process as we selected colors, shades, and quality of paint. His team perfectly prepared the interior removing picture hanging nails, curtains and rods, sanding down and prepping for painting. Even after applying two coats on our front door, the paint was bleeding through so they painted the door again! Attention to detail!👍 Salem painting saved us thousands of dollars compared with other estimates and delivered superior results! So nice to support a local small business instead of a franchise from a national chain. I highly recommend Salem painting as your primary choice for your painting requirements!"

"Over the past ten years, my wife and I have used Steve Cabaniss Painting four separate times, getting both maintenance and upgrades in painting projects done around the house. Every time, this company preformed superior workmanship (they take their craft seriously); they were always on-time, used the best materials, took care to cover things to prevent drips, cleaned up after themselves thoroughly, and completed the projects right on schedule. They are professional and very polite. They stand behind their work. They are local, use long-term employees loyal to both company and customers, and their prices are right in line with our expectations. They are very reasonable people and will work along with you to get what you want done, done the way you want it, and it is a pleasure doing business with them. These people are so good and so honest, I no longer need multiple quotes as I have never found anyone that can beat Steve Cabaniss Painting. Strong: RECOMMEND!"

"This is pretty much a verbatim copy of a follow up to my review left on his Facebook page. NOT ONCE has he replied and OVER A YEAR LATER my project is still not complete nor has he EVER replied to me. Mr Hambrick - you have my number! Why won't you call to either REFUND MY MONEY... or get one of your dead-wood subs to come up here and wave tools in the air so they look like they're doing something? (IE: N O T H I N G.) Are you EVER coming back to finish WHAT I PAID FOR???? It's been well over a year since you took my money! Just refund my money and we can call it even although your incompetence as a General Contractor was most visible when --I-- had to babysit your nit-wit masonary subs! We were not even halfway AFTER the date our contract stated for completion and then - you and my money went somewhere together - BUT YOU DID NOT EVER COME BACK HERE TO COMPLETE THE JOB! So right now - YOU have my money and I am struggling to find folks to do what your incompetence was unable to do. I doubt Backwoods Builders (or whatever they call themselves this week...) could identify which end of a hammer hurts your thumb but then again, since you sub out jobs to unqualified subs (who cannot read mortar mix bags labels... even when a big ol' label on them says 'pre-mixed'...) what's to expect? (How difficult is 'pre-mix mortar' to " " " mix " " " ?????) (Pretty damned hard for a mason more worried about his Miller Lite pony bottles than discriminating between his head and his... pony. Think about that one a moment. -I- paid for and provided the block. It was all on site -I- had the foundation laid out and filled with gravel. -I- paid for and provided the mortar mix. Yet, I'm now begging friends and family to help me complete my shop since you took my money (PART OF MY RETIREMENT FUNDS, YOU JERK.) Oh, also many thanks to your subs taking my ethanol free gasoline kept for my generator. For smashing the end of my top-end water hose and then running off with a few minor items from the worksite. At least I provided entertainment for your subs after you took my money! I guess it's to be expected that those morons couldn't read a mortar pre-mix bag but somehow managed to leave Miller Lite pony bottles around the work area. You never did reply to my review on your Facebook page so now I have to post reviews elsewhere so that honest folks do not get taken by you and the idiots you sub work out to. There are other issues, too, but let's face it: ONE issue with a sub is one too many. I paid -YOU- to oversee a job but it was --- M E --- who had to watch the halfwits you sent here. I WANT A REFUND of the money you took without providing the contracted result. You have no business BEING IN BUSINESS."

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Christiansburg, VA

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
