"We chose Ideal after getting quotes from multiple contractors and doing research on the window manufacturers. We had been through this process once before when we lived in another city and felt we knew what to expect. The picture window was a different style than the old one and did not turn out quite like we had hoped. Even though it's a replacement window that fits in the existing hole, there is slightly more frame than glass and we will need to redo the trim to really make it look right. Lesson learned: ask lots of questions of ANY contractor when changing window styles. The double hungs are ok and all windows function properly. The installer was very nice and had all of the windows installed in one day. However, there was a lack of attention to detail that we found disappointing. When he was finished, the installer just packed up his equipment and left. Didn't stop to let me know he was leaving or to see if I was satisfied with everything. Generally speaking the installer cleaned up after himself, but he neglected to clean up the dust and shavings in the window tracks from where the screws were drilled through the vinyl. The aluminum trim on the exterior of the picture window was sloppy. None of the windows were cleaned leaving behind spots of sticky residue from the shrink wrap that was extremely difficult to remove. It's a good thing we kept all of the stickers from the windows because we needed them to get an energy rebate from the utility company. However, no one told us to keep them. We did not get a printed warranty. Had to find/print that off the web ourselves. Not what we expected based on our previous experience. We brought our concerns to the owner's attention and the issues were resolved."
