"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

"Brandon and Allyn were the individuals in the office I spoke with and both were very quick to respond to any questions. Allyn even went to bat with an Insurance Adjuster on behalf of the one's needing the new roof and was able to obtain at least partial payment. In the beginning we didn't think the insurance would cover anything but Allyn thought it would and took the extra steps to help find out. There was a little confusion with the workers on the actual day of the roofing but it was resolved satisfactorily with no other issues. They even rescued a little nest of baby bunnies they noticed when they were moving around the outside of the house and notified the owner so he could move them till they finished the roof and then put the whole nest back where it was so the mother bunny could come back and take care of the babies. Very considerate of them!! <br />"

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"I could not be more happy with the people I dealt with or the job I got. They were tied for the highest dollar contract (the reason for the B in the price dept) but I still feel like I got my money's worth and maybe then some. I commented at work that I needed to find a roofer and asked if anyone had a good company they knew of. Our regional manager mentioned the company that had reroofed our distribution center. I said that they probably wouldn't be interested in my house. She told me they did both and it turns out she was absolutely correct. They came out, checked everything over, made some suggestions about some other conditions they found and were just as professional as their name suggests. I was a little disappointed they weren't less expensive but I decided to go with them anyway because we've never had any problems with the giant roof they did for my company, surely this would be a snap. It was. They were courteous, the yard was cleaned up very nicely. The guys even knocked as soon as they were done on the back so I could let my dog out to run safely like I asked them to. They'd cleaned it separately so he could get out their and fuss at them in person! :) Seriously good folks. I am so glad I found them. Found out they're a family business and the two guys I'd dealt with we're a father and son. My wife always said everybody gripes when things are bad but rarely does anyone give credit when things are good. She always did. I guess now it's my turn to put up or shut up, so here I am. Roofs been done a while now and still looks good, still dry and the same guys still answer the phone."

"I'd highly recommend Faith Roofing Company. I would mark them down a little bit with the clean-up, I found two shingle nails which is unfortunate but I think that happens. I had a $350 Angie's List coupon that was helpful with the pricing. The estimator was very good. He suggested that I get a different color which I liked and also made a suggestion of this little windows on my ceiling to let light in. They suggest on putting up another one to even up the numbers and I thought that was a good idea. I had an issue with the insurer who had my home insurance, they did not want to give me credit for that $350 coupon, so I called them and asked them, the lady I talked to prepared a one-page statement that I would go with my letter to the state insurance department to contest the insurance company's decision. As it turned out, the company agreed to pay me the money that I should have saved due to the coupon. It was hard for them to set appointment but they worked it in and I was very satisfied with that."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Clay Center, KS

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
