"We had an old shingle roof removed and replaced with a new metal seamless roof. We also had our chimney removed, and gutters replaced. Our project manager was very responsive and upfront about the entire process. It ended up being about 4 days of work, and photos were taken throughout the process to show any additional damages and repairs. I feel Precise did an honest, thorough, respectful and quality job. The new roof and gutters look amazing. We are very satisfied with the work."

"I was very pleased with the entire process of having my roof replaced. AJB work worked with us to choose the right shingles, even giving us a list of house to see what the different shingles look like on a roof. Installation went very smoothly, and they did a great job of cleaning up after the installation. They came out promptly after the roof was completed to address a couple minor issues."

"Overall, this the best experience I've ever had with a contractor for services. They arrived on time, and were so polite, very professional. My new roof looks so good, I'm very pleased. They did such good work, I had them do additional work of installing new gutters."

Whether it's one sentence or a paragraph, all we ask is that it's the truth! Please help us help more homeowners by leaving a review on one or two of our review platforms. In my entire 73 years, I have never encountered a person like Byron Morris, who literally took his own time to help me ward off an oncoming terrible problem that I did not see. All I can say is this: as a person he is simply top of the line and very professional. Larry"

"Why I have selected ON TOPS ROOFING to do the complete replacement of my 7,150 square feet roof: I look around and asked for several estimates from large to small companies, and I have selected ON TOPS ROOFING because: 1) I wanted “designer” shingles which are thicker and more difficult to install than “architectural” shingles, and I wanted the best workmanship warranty. ON TOPS roofing has done a lot of “designer” shingle roofs and is a GAF Master Elite contractor since a long time with a very large volume of installed GAF shingles. And because they are Master Elite, the GAF manufacturer can offer warranty on their workmanship job for 25 years (GOLDEN PLEDGE Warranty). 2) ON TOPS roofing is a “NC GENERAL CONTRACTOR”. This is a guaranty for good business and professionalism. Nevertheless, I received several estimates from other roofers not being “NC GENERAL CONTRACTOR”, 3) ON TOPS ROOFING was very well positioned for Price /work quality: My roof was a complex project with 63 roof facets, 23 valleys and a lot of flashings. ON TOPS Roofing was offering the same work quality (Hand nailing shingles. Open metal valleys….) than the largest more expensive company. Why I recommend ON TOPS ROOFING for professional roofing or re-roofing work: 1) The work went as contracted and scheduled with no surprises or misunderstanding. Brian, the project manager was on site most of the time, and always left messages when he had to leave to take more material or for other reasons, and always answered his phone, even after hours. He was always receptive to my remarks or demands, and everything has been done exactly the way I wanted. 2) At some point one flashing was not looking right for me, the day after they sent their flashing and metal forming expert to redo the job. 3) The team was very organized and professional. Now, after the work done I can really say that ON TOPS ROOFING offers an outstanding PRICE / WORK QUALITY ratio."

"As far as I can tell, the roof job was done fine. I went with Allen Deans since the owner, Matt Maresh, was very professional when we met and discussed the options in detail. The main reason I went with them was that, the quote was couple grand less than the 2 other quotes I got. They did take care of all of my asks except for 2 important asks I'd insisted on. The job required and committed to, to cover all areas with tarps. There were no tarps used so it was an ugly mess to be cleaned up. I still find nails and debri in the shrubs 6 month later. As an example of the mess, my car had a flat tire 3 months after the job due to a roof nail on the driveway, probably blown there by the wind. The other commitment was to take photos of key asks that my insurance agent had asked for and this was totally missed even though I'd reminded on the first and 2nd day of job. I still think they did an overall good job with the roof itself so I suggest at least getting a quote from Allen Deans to compare with others."

"They did a great job. Ben came out within a day after contacting him and did a thorough roof inspection and laid out for me what I would need to have done. He did a much more comprehensive look than did others I talked to. He told me just what to expect and laid out my options in a "no pressure" approach. On the day of the replacement, the guys showed up on time and got everything done. Ben came back out, we talked about some minor cosmetic things, and he had a crew out the next day to wrap everything up. I don't expect to ever need another roofer, but if I did, I would go to SureTop. Great service!"

"I am very happy with the service provided by Authentic Restoration. This was a very great value to me as I am an out of state landlord. I felt like they cared and did everything to help extend the extend the timeline of the roof before needing more extensive repair. Nathan was my contact and serviceman. He provided me with pictures of the work done and went the extra mile and even trimmed tree limbs sitting on the roof. I whole hardheartedly recommend you consider therm for any roofing needs."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Clayton, NC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
