"We had a great experience with Paragon from beginning to end. The installation itself went very smoothly and they worked through some fairly complex problems with the parts of the roof that are not of a typical design. It's been two years and everything is holding up very well. I would definitely recommend them."

"maybe i consider i might might consider getting a new furnace for about $ 6,500 rather than spending $ 2,700 on my 19 year old furnace and that is what i am considering now. i will definitely have Isaac to do the work. i never bother doing surveys. i am so impressed , i just had to do the survey. "Donnie gave me a free estimate to repair a water heater vent leak in my upper story roof. While he was on the roof, he noticed rain diverters that were improperly installed and could potentially cause damage and he noticed shingles that had been damaged by a tree limb. His price for the repair for all these problems was fair and reasonable. He returned my calls on time and came to make the repairs when he said he would. It took him several hours to complete the work and he provided me pictures of the completed repairs. The second story roof is a place I will never see. I appreciated the pictures. Has not rained since the vent repair but I do not expect it to leak. He gave me a warranty on his work. I would definitely call on Donnie Long again if I need roofing services. <br />"

"My home has a 100+ year old slate roof in disrepair and several generations of cheap fixes. I contacted Leeland's for an opinion on repairs. The inspector was extremely thorough, provided pictures, and gave me his candid opinion on the remaining life of my roof based on the condition of my slates and flashings. He ultimately wrote up an estimate to paint the rusted metal valleys, replace several dozen broken slates, repair rotted wood, and install new copper chimney flashing and a cricket. It was a difficult decision to repair vs replace the roof, but I never felt any pressure from them one way or another. I agreed to the repairs originally, but ultimately changed my mind and just decided to replace the roof. I'm sure this was a hassle to go back and forth with me, but they were very patient, and ultimately returned my deposit. I really appreciate their honesty and customer service, and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for maintenance on their slate roof. <br />"

"Roof install: February 2023 The entire process from beginning to end was very smooth. Norm was very flexible and accommodated my schedule for the initial visit and install; he spent over an hour answering all of my questions and inspected my roof from the top and from within the attics. I obtained several estimates and Norm was by far the most thorough. My roof needed to be addressed semi-urgently due to a leak and Norm took care of the roof replacement it within 3 weeks. During the install, I was updated frequently with phone calls, texts and pictures about how the job was progressing. For a roof my size I was surprised Norm and his crew were able to complete it in less than a day. Norm was priced similarly compared with the other quotes I received but I picked him for the job because I was impressed with how thorough he was at the initial visit and how he took the time to answer all of my questions. I will be recommending Freedom Roofing to my family and friends!"

"In my opinion they kind of shot from the hip. I have been doing construction for years and didn't feel like doing this project. I thought they went too quick in the quote and I thought it was very low and I was concerned about it. We hired a different contractor that was much more detailed. They were doing the quote too quick, didn't take enough measurements, and it was too low. I know that they have been in business for a long time so maybe that was why he was able to do it that way. Based on the other quote, I mean I know something about the material they were going to use, and it's expensive. It's a material that you put under your deck to keep the water from coming through and makes the deck act as a ceiling, I can't remember what they call it. We were going to do it 5 or 6 years ago and it was very expensive. I don't think that his quote reflected the cost of that material and he said it did. I was just concerned that we would run out of money and get in trouble there. It took him awhile to get the quote. We actually had awarded the job to someone else before we heard back from him again."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Clifton Springs, NY

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
