"I'll start this review by saying that Kevin does great work. He stays in contact and shows up bright and early and ready to get started. He works non-stop all day until the job is completed. He and his crew are friendly and clean the work area well when the job is finished. My only advice to others looking to hire him would be to watch his quotes carefully. He starts out with a reasonable price but after the job has begun, his price grows quite more than what was originally agreed upon. The excuse given is usually the price of materials have gone up, followed later by a little complaining about how difficult the job was to finish. First of all, when I hire a professional I expect them to know the current price of materials BEFORE they give a quote and they should always expect to run into some unforeseen issues along the way. Paying a bit more for this situation is understandable if it is justified and within reason. I hired Kevin to replace an old chain-link fence with a new wood one, this job went very smoothly, no issues at all. They finished the job very fast and I was quite happy with the end result. Next he was hired to repair a wood framed chimney chase which was damaged over the years from rain. The original quote was $2500 but he said it might be "slightly" higher if more wood rot was discovered after he started the repair, which happened to be the case. The final price was $4000, which I thought was a bit more than "slightly" higher Still the repair was completed on time and I was pleased with his work. He was then hired to put a new new roof on my parents home. His original quote was $11,000, but after he received a deposit for materials he later came back and said the price of materials have gone way up and needed more money, next he started complaining about how tough the job was to complete because it was an older home and the roof wasn't exactly square. There were also many nails that had to be pulled from the existing roof which took him longer than expected to complete. The final price $14,900, once again quite a bit more the slightly higher. Like I stated earlier, Kevin is dependable and does top-notch work but you should expect to pay quite more than his original quote. Even though I'm happy with the work he did, I will be looking elsewhere for someone to handle future projects."

"He gave me my estimate early and I was waiting on insurance adjustor that kept putting me off. Jared kept checking with me every week. It took 8 weeks for the adjustor to come. Jared waited patiently. He started immediately after I was cleared to go. It took them one week. I was away from home for a few days and when I returned home the new roof was done and the yard was cleaned of all debris."

"My wife and I bought a retirement home in Ocean Springs that was flooded by Katrina.  The home was under 5 feet of water and unoccupied for years.  We solicited several quotes and Emmitt Christie's (Just Fix It) was by far the most competitive.  We were located in Columbus, Ohio during the duration of the remodeling (May 2013-Sept. 2013).  Because we were not familiar with the area or contractors in the Misssissippi Gulf Coast, I was apprehensive about hiring and trusting any company to take care of our investment, especially since we weren't there.    However, that all changed with Emmitt.  We could tell him what we wanted done, when we want it done and he would give us a very good price for the job.  We could trust Emmitt to do the job right, on time and without us being there.  Although his price and quality of work was very good,  the fact that we could trust him is what makes him very valuable.  Some of the work that he performed on our home included:  New roof, new wiring, new drywall, some new plumbing, installed kitchen cabinets and counters, bathroom vanitys, designed and installed a new slate walk-in shower, built a deck, installed electrical panel boxes, ceiling lights and fans throughout the home and converted the garage into a den and laundry room.  The bottom line is I would highly recommend Emmitt's company, Just Fix It, for any job, big or small. <br />"

FAQs for wood fence repair projects in Collins, MS

The time it takes to install a swimming pool fence varies depending on the project's complexity. A simple installation can be completed in about two hours. However, if your project involves concrete work, regrading, custom installations, or challenging terrain, it could take up to two full days. Each additional factor increases the labor and time needed to ensure your fence meets safety standards.

Yes, installing a lock on your pool gate enhances safety by preventing unauthorized access. A self-closing, self-latching gate with a key-lock mechanism provides strong protection, helping to keep children and pets safe. Securing your pool gate adds an extra layer of security and offers peace of mind when using the pool area.

A pool fence requires a specific height to secure the pool area. In most states, the fence must be 48 inches tall; some regulations require 60 inches for enhanced safety. Checking local building codes guarantees compliance with these height requirements. A taller fence strengthens protection and improves the overall security of your pool area, ensuring it meets stringent safety standards.

Mesh and tempered glass are among the safest pool fencing choices because their design and smooth surfaces make them resistant to climbing attempts. They provide consistent, rigid barriers that prevent unauthorized access to your pool area. These materials ensure optimal safety for children and pets. In addition, incorporating a pool safety net further enhances protection and addresses additional security concerns, ensuring that your pool remains a safe environment for all users.

Pool fencing requirements vary by local, state, and federal regulations. In most states, installing a pool fence is mandatory for safety and insurance purposes. Ask your pool fence pro for local regulations or check with your local planning department to understand the specific height and design requirements for your area. Complying with these regulations ensures legal compliance and enhances safety.
