"We had a leak and called for an estimate. James was out the next day to take a look. He was very professional, thorough and did an excellent job. When they tore the roof off they found more damage and called right away, we were given prices and options and they completed the job as promised. We were very happy with the work and the communication and will be getting an estimate for the siding to be done next. We are very happy with Paramount Roofing and with James."

"They didn't install my roof, which I think was done two homeowners a ago, but came over to repair a leak. They came over quickly, their quote was reasonable, and they did what they said they would do for the price quoted. The crew was polite and respected my yard. For those concerned about the few negative reviews based upon communication, the company doesn't appear to have a large office or professional sales staff. This is probably one of the reasons their pricing is so good. So, yes, communication was a little sparser than some other companies, but they're hard working, friendly, and answer their phones. I'm hopeful that I won't have any further problems following the repair, but am confident that they'll promptly come back if I experience any issues."

"It went very well from the start of the estimate to the clean-up. Everything went forward without a hitch. No pressure on the sales. <br /> In fact Jason said that my roof could last another year if I wanted to wait. Date was scheduled in time period that was expected. Work went forward and was very well done. Gutters also replaced. Was follow-up to see if there was any problems. Clean up was so good I couldn't even find a stray nail. I would highly recommend these folks, I am very pleased. The only minor complaint I would have is that it would be nice to pay with credit card to get airline mileage. But I understand why that isn't done and that in itself would not detour me from getting quality work done. It would just be a nice bonus. <br />"

"It is a fairly well known company in the area for roofing business. Our experience with them has been very positive. We had hail damage and they called and gave us the estimate. We spotted that their price would be covered by our insurance company so we went with them. They were very punctual. We retuned the deposit with their quote. They sent immediate response saying that they received the deposit and would be calling us in the next few weeks to schedule the time to begin the work. They did exactly what they said they would. It was very clean when they finished the work. We found little pieces of shingles and nails here and there but roofing can be a messy job. When they finished the roof it looked great. We had a couple of problems afterwards it was because the way the house was constructed. They came back out assessed what needed to be done and how much it would cost. We have used them at 3 different occasions and it’s been a very positive experience all the way around. I used them for roof and shortly after that we had some problem with the ice damn on the roof and it was leaking through. I called the representative. He said it was one part where the problem was and I said that was exactly the spot where the problem laid. He told me what needed to be done. They came back out when the weather broke. The problem was where the second storey wall hit the roof. They came back out and pulled back the siding and installed water proof barrier between there and the roof. We had no problems after that. Last year they did some siding for us at the back of our house."

"Fabio and his team are pros. Responded quickly, communicated thoroughly. He did an excellent analysis of the leaking problem, which was not readily apparent in a roof like mine. Clearly he was concerned about doing quality work and about the cost. He showed me pictures of around my chimney where the flashing had deteriorated over the years, and more pictures of completion after the repair was made. I have a very steep roof, so I don't go up there as I am not a goat. He discussed the situation with me and we agreed on a plan of action. He did a very thorough repair. The next time it rained, I still had a leak. He came out again and did further analysis. He examined the existing shingles and found water underneath them. He was able to determine where the leak started (and he showed me the evidence and explained it) and his skilled team replaced the shingles and ice and water underlayment and some replacement of the wood roof decking which had been damaged by water. So I had two leaks, they repaired them both professionally on time and budget, two flat-rate fees, which I like very much, not time and materials, and no overages. I recommend them highly."

"Everything went great. They worked with me to set up a time for the work to be done. The work was done well, and there was no mess in the yard. The only sign that they were there was an invoice on the door and clean gutters. Planning to hire again for other work. They charged exactly what they had specified in their estimate. No complaints, and would recommend to anyone."

"A few years ago, I had used SPS Roofing on a commercial job, and was happy with the finished job. Recently, I called them for my own house which required replacement of shingles. It was a smooth transaction. I selected from a sample of shingles. The crew arrived within two weeks, removed the old shingles, and replaced with new more attractive shingles. The job took two days. They did a complete cleanup leaving no trash or debris. Two sattelite dish antennas had to be repointed, which was professionally done, and at no additional charge. <br />"

"We received 6 quotes from Angie's List recommended companies and Carl Cure Roofing was the low bid using the same quality metal as the other companies bidding the job. We were not necessarily going to go with the lowest bid, but we appreciated Carl's personal attention to detail when he inspected the roof, along with the way he explained the process to us. We felt confident that he was going to deliver. His shingle tear-off team finished quickly and left no debris around the house. His team of metal roofing specialists encountered generator and other equipment problems during the install, and ended up having to finish the job on a Saturday. Their work was top-notch and their cleanup job left nothing for us to tidy up. We went with metal because we plan to be in this house for many years to come, and would recommend Carl's company to anyone considering an upgrade from shingles to metal. The quote also included replacement of our 4x4 Velux skylight, which was leaking, and all new seamless gutters. They could have saved the original gutters, but would have had to either reposition them or notch the new metal roof flashing. The labor that would have been involved in doing that gave us an opportunity to get a really good quote from Mike, the team leader, on much nicer gutters and downspouts. Carl and his team took good care of us, and their personal and professional attention to everything made this a great experience."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Columbus, WI

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
