"I wouldn’t be writing this Review if one thing would have happened, TALK TO ME. Don’t place the answering service in the position of telling a Customer that the Supervisor has left for the day at 2.45p on a Thursday. Especially when the Horizon repairman had just fried our whole cooling system, including the thermostat!! What started with a bad fan motor in a new AC system that was only 3.5 years old in a $10,000 system, for which we had waited 4 days for the new motor to be installed. Add to that the fact that the repairman told me he would be at our home at 8.30a and didn’t arrive until 11.30a - after having to use a vacation day to wait at home for them to arrive. Then telling me this will be ‘quick’ all I have to do is switch out the motor by mounting it and plugging in the new one. Hours went by, nothing. He comes in to test the thermostat and it is non-responsive. He tells me to get new batteries, which I did. Then asks me, “these are new?” To which I say, ‘of course’ - you watched me take them out of the box. Then he goes out to his truck for the next 1.5hrs, supposedly speaks with his Supervisor and comes in and tells me that he has fried the system. I reply by saying I will be calling a senior person to speak with them. Called 4 times and never spoke with anyone. Each time I waited on hold for an extended period of time. Each time, I was then told by the answering service that someone would call and never did. Then at 2.45p I am told “everyone has left for the day” and no one would be calling. This was a Thursday, I had been home all day and no one would speak with me. We remain without an AC system, no plan, no calls - - nothing!!! If I could rate them a ZERO, I would,"

"Just like some the other comments….Extremely unprofessional customer service person who answers the phone, interrupted several times and hung up on me. If you have a problem with their work won’t help you. Even when I inquired about warranty of their work I got a rude attitude.DO NOT RECOMMEND"

"The scope of work (Replacement kitchen & two full baths + New Powder room) in a five bedroom twin residence constructed 1905 was extreme. Additionally, the house was not entirely vacated in process and also contained two professional music studios with assets worth over $350K. In a structure nearly 115 years old, surprises regarding demolition and reconstruction were inevitable. DR was consistently pro-active and on top of all challenges. Especially impressive was their extremely and beyond competitively priced fees for surprise electrical remediation, new sewer & water lines, foundation and floor leveling remediation, and overall cooperation, understanding, and partnership to make the entire renovation a very pleasing success. Additionally, DR's design counseling was spectacular. Lauren created beautiful solutions for seemingly impossible challenges that continue to please every day. Working with DR may appear to be more costly than trying to act as your own General Contractor -- which BTW I was prior too retirement -- but the end product is beyond more seamless and way beyond what can be accomplished by trying to coordinate one's own trades people. Go DR, and will definitely call you guys for any future projects we have. And BTW, our guests are always vocally impressed with our new kitchen and baths."

"Things have to be pretty bad for me to leave a negative review. I hate to do it but in this case it’s necessary. Frank came over to look at my fridge and had an extremely thick accent. Not a complaint but there was a large language barrier to begin with. When he came into my house, he said he was from house. Which I now realize he meant house appliance repair but even with the accent I know he didn’t say anything after house. Now I had called several people from houzz and Angie’s list. I KNEW he was hired From angi because I called his company purely because there was a special offer/promotion for the service charge. I said to him oh I thought I got your number from Angie’s list. Frank told me they were the same thing. I asked him directly if Angie’s list and house were the same thing. He said yes. Ok, I chalked it up to maybe he didn’t understand my English. It’s important to note that when I made the appointment I mentioned the promotional discount on Angie. She said to tell Frank when he showed up. Then after he was in my house, Frank said he would not honor the discount. He said he knew nothing about it. Even after I showed it to him on the website he still would not lower the very expensive service charge just to enter my house. So I told him water was laying under the bottom ice drawer and freezing. He seemed to know what the problem was without even looking at it but when opening the fridge, he mentioned the seal should be replaced. But he also added …in the future. That it was not necessary right now. Then he told me he’d be back in a few days when the parts came in. He started to walk to my front door. I had to ask him what parts he was ordering. Somehow, without any discussion, he also put in an order for the refrigerator seal. I asked him how much the Parts were. He gave me a serious attitude like he was bothered by a stupid question. I told him I was not going to OK any charges until I had that information. He said he wasn’t sure of the prices and From what I could understand, I heard he was going to just tack it on the credit card that I had to give them when I made the appointment. He was very rude and seemed frustrated that I couldn’t understand him. I was very polite about it but I did have to ask him to repeat himself multiple times. I asked him to send me an estimate for the repair and we could possibly make an appointment after I saw the price. Frank told me he would send it that night. I did not receive it. Then theres the phone number weirdness. I was Repeatedly given a different telephone number every time I tried to contact them. I would call a number, had to leave a message, and then someone would call me back from a different number. On their message, they gave me a different number. I found this all to be very shady. They called me once after that and just left a message letting me know they took the liberty of making an appointment for me. It was my machine so I had no conversation with them. I called them back the day of the appt. and then was told the part wasn’t even in. So the service guy couldn’t make the appointment that they had scheduled for me without my consent because the parts (I never approved because I never received the estimate) did not come in and they never even called to let me know. Then I never heard from them again. I called several times. They never called me back. I finally gave up. I was so aggravated and there was/is absolutely no trust with this person or his business. So I had to pay $189 for him to come out just to look at my fridge seals that was not even why I called him. I later saw his website where it specifically states that they like to talk to people first and try to troubleshoot over the phone so as to save customers from having to pay that service charge. I was not offered this service! Considering that when he came in to my house, he didn’t need to even look at the freezer added to the fact i showed him the offer for discount service charge, I really don’t understand why I was charged so much. I ended up calling another company and it was $106 for them to come out and repair the problem. The whole encounter, from beginning to end, was a nightmare. It would’ve still been bad if I hadn’t had to shell out so much money. I won’t even use Angie anymore. That’s how bad the experience was."

"Mr. Contractor has my highest recommendation!!! Here are some details. * Excellent Communication!!! From the beginning to the end, we always knew what was happening next. On a weekly and daily basis, I was informed who would be working that week and/or day and what they would be doing. As a woman, I felt my questions and concerns were taken seriously. Ken, co-owner and project manager of Mr. Contractor, and his team take professional service very seriously as Ken, would often say our overall goal is to please the customer. Indeed, they did! *Very well managed large project finished on schedule!!! Our project was a complete basement overhaul and new bathroom on the first floor. From a new dug out cement floor to sheet rocked and painted walls, enclosed closets, open shelving to new vinyl flooring and a separate utility room our basement was transformed! I still get tears in my eyes as I walk down the basement stairs!! *Excellent quality of work by seasoned craftsmen!! Mr. Contractor has their own permanent crew of workers that have 15-20 years’ experience working with the family-owned business established in 1949. I was very impressed with their apprentice/mentoring approach to developing their team of craftsmen someone with less experience worked closely with an experienced craftsman. *The work was reasonably priced and negotiated. All materials were included in the price *Workspace was always clean and orderly!! Having had a couple of renovations done before, I’ve heard contractors say they clean-up at the end of the day, but nothing compares with Mr. Contractors team who not only thoroughly clean the workspace, but also organize their tools and materials for the next day!! They also removed any debris and trash daily. *I cannot emphasize enough how smoothly our project was managed, the quality of work by Mr. Contractors team of crafts people, and the attention placed on listening to our needs, concerns, and feedback as clients."

"I would probably give them four stars overall but since this is a review for a specific job of installing a gas stove I'm just giving two stars. They did the job but this is the second time now where they refused to do the job unless they were also able to replace the gas cock which is the valve behind the stove which supplies it with gas. It's totally unnecessary to do this but it allows them to double their price. So they charged me a total of $720 just for that. I would expect $300 or less for a simple quick job like this. I will not call them for this type of job again."
