"Elliot and his crew showed up as scheduled. They had some difficulties with the old slab being so porous, but worked through the day to get it right. The color came out great, but the gloss layer did not last. After discussing this with Elliot, he stated it was most likely due to the very old and porous slab. Elliot and his crew came back to the house, re sanded the floor and put a thin top layer on the slab. He stained and sealed the floor with a high gloss finish. He did all this at no cost to me and the final product came out great."

"Antonio and his crew did an amazing job. I was a little reluctant to give such a big job to someone I hadn't worked with before, but after reading all of the rave reviews on Angie's list I decided to give him a try. He came by the same day I called him and after discussing the job, he gave me a bid the next day. Not 10 days or two weeks later- the next day. (Some of the companies I contacted didn't even bother to call or come by until Antonio was almost done with the job). Nine days total, excluding weekends, somewhat delayed due to several days of rain. <br /> Not only was his price the lowest bid from those I received, (3), it was less than half of the highest bid from another well known company... but more importantly, the quality of work and attention to detail exceeded my expectations. So much so that I kept finding things for him to do. Mainly digging up and replanting dead or diseased shrubs & plants from the harsh winter. He is very flexible and motivated to please and accommodate as things arise that had not been planned or accounted for. <br /> I'm not telling you not to get multiple job estimates, but I have had a lot of landscape & hardscape work done by several different companies through the years, and not only did he do it for less, but the quality of materials and workmanship was simply excellent. His crew works hard when no one is watching. That's rare these days. <br /> Great work, great price, good people. I'm very satisfied and ANCLA construction has my highest recommendation. <br />"

"We were so fortunate to find North Alabama Builders! Brent, Patrick & Misty were awesome they kept us informed every step of the way. We felt comfortable with Brent & Misty on day one when they came to look at the job we wanted done (which was not a easy task). Brent was extremely cautious since the job was vaulting our ceiling he brought a Engineer out 3 times to make sure it could be done properly before he accepted the job. Of course, it was not the greatest thing living thru a remodel but Brent and Patrick kept the job site clean each day! They were very respectful our home and once the job was complete they did a complete cleanup. We couldn't be happier with the way our project looks! Thank you North Alabama Builders!"

"Went great! They fixed all the cracks and used a dustless grinder to smooth out the floor before putting down the epoxy. It only took one day to install and dry! Other quotes I got were from 3-7 days to dry. They also have a 20 year warranty which was long than any other quote as well."

"We gutted one wing of our house, turning a hall bath and adjoining bedroom into the master suite and creating a jack-and-jill from two other bedrooms and a bath. We used our own designer who drew the plans from which S&S worked. Satisfactory: paint, tile, stone, electrical, plumbing, glass shower doors. Deeply Unsatisfactory: carpentry. Of 5 new doors, 4 are hung (framed?) crooked and do not open/close satisfactorily. A pocked door does not shut properly, but S&S said it was ?fine.? A new front door that was installed did not open/close satisfactorily; I had to hire someone else to adjust it after his carpenter tried at least 3 times. It works fine after another contractor fixed it. I also had to rip up S&S?s wood floor installation, purchase new wood, and have my own installer lay pre-finished floors because S&S did a very poor job. S&S split the cost with me but I still paid approx $800 out of pocket, even after S&S agreed that the job was unsatisfactory. I still do not know how to correct the crooked interior doors, which don't stay open/closed as needed. Heated floors: these were installed in such a manner that the area in front of the toilet and in front of the sinks is not heated. Of course by the time I discovered this, it was too late to change it. S&S did split the cost with me since it was not done to our satisfaction but it cannot be fixed. I got the impression this was the first heated floor installation he had done. Personal: Steven has a lot of experience building new homes and has strong opinions on how things ought to be done. He is eager to please but often hasty in execution. One of our biggest difficulties had to do with expectations for the quality of materials. His bid was woefully inadequate so we ran into problems, for example, when I selected materials for tile in our Mountain Brook master bathroom that exceeded the $4-5 per square foot for which he had allowed in his bid. I did not select extraordinary tile but needed tile appropriate for the style and location of our home. When Steven sent me to his carpet salesman, I was dissatisfied with the quality of the carpets he showed me. I repeatedly asked to see different samples but the salesman insisted these were ?better than builder grade? so I should be happy. Even though I made clear my willingness to pay more for a better carpet, it took quite a bit of work and a threat to go elsewhere to convince them to show me something that met my specifications. These are just two examples. Steven's best quality is his quick response to requests; as soon as I asked for something to be done, he took care of it immediately, and for that I was appreciative. Steven?s pricing structure felt opaque. In his bid, it was difficult to see how much he had allowed for various items. When I asked to price a potential change order, it was very difficult to see how much particular items cost and thus very difficult for me to make price-comparison decisions when weighing two options. If you want someone to come in quickly, make decisions for you, and finish a job quickly, then Steven will do a decent job. If, however, you care about the details and quality of a project, then dealing with S&S Development Co will be very frustrating for both of you. I spent quite a bit of time standing over sub-contractors and correcting unsatisfactory details that I was able to catch. I was fortunate to have a bathroom designer who helped me to make good stylistic and decor decisions. I still need to find a way to correct several interior doors which don't open/close correctly and that is the source of lingering frustration for us. Overall, Steven wants his homeowners to be happy and will do what he can to find an acceptable solution to disagreements but in general, he did not seem to understand what was needed to meet our expectations from the beginning."
