"The estimator arrived promptly when scheduled and provided a written estimate. We thought it was a bit expensive just to prune a tree but decided to hire them because: (a) we were unhappy with a different tree service's work we had used years before, (b) their city permit was up to date (according to the COS website), (c) they had insurance and offered to provide proof, and (d) mostly because they had satisfactorily removed a 50 foot cottonwood tree a year and a half earlier (although our cedar fence sustained some very minor damage from a falling branch, the supervisor immediately stopped work and brought the damage to my husband's attention, offering to repair it).
Based on the care that was taken before, we decided to hire Horton. We were surprised when the actual "arborist" arrived - late, claiming he was a tree doctor in a different country and turned our leafy tree into a "horticultural poodle". The main branches were stripped of small sprouts while leaving plumes of leaves at the ends. I was furious when I returned home in the evening to see most of the already thin canopy cut away.
I am not an arborist or even an experienced gardener ,so I hoped this was a trimming style that would take time to appreciate. It is not. The weight at the end of the branches resulted in many of them snapping off in high wind, especially weakened by the drought conditions. After 2 years and high hopes, I still have a tragic looking tree that I will have to pay someone to try and trim again and hopefully save. So, if you have a dead or dying tree, they were good at that aspect of tree service. Would I hire them to prune another tree? Absolutely not."

"Our neighbor has a large tree in their yard that several large branches were overhanging into our yard and the overhang needed to be trimmed back. Even though we did not need to get the neighbors permission to trim the tree on our side of the fence, we got permission from them. We wanted to be good neighbors and preserve the tree. Kaz Porter and James Lyons of Classic Tree Service, gave us a reasonable quote and scheduled a time to trim the tree. Their expertise trimmed the tree with their knowledge of how best to keep the tree in good health. They also hauled away the debris. They did a professional job and were polite and respectful. Will hire again."

"Gustavo and his crew did a total interior transformation on my home! New kitchen and bath cabinets with granite countertops. Incredible and unique tile work on floors and backsplash. A shower with marble and stone accents. Hardwood floors were restored This was a 1960's house that has been completely refreshed. El Toro's Gustavo and crew did every job that other contractors had declined or would have sent to outside providers.. They even added an unexpected fence project when those December winds tore up the town and took out the old fence. These guys are the best!! They can do everything with great skill!"

FAQs for tree stump removal projects in Cripple Creek, CO

Always transport chainsaws with the engine off and chain brake engaged. Use the protective bar cover provided by the rental company to prevent accidental contact with the cutting chain. Position the chainsaw securely in your vehicle to prevent movement during transit, ideally in a truck bed or trunk rather than the passenger compartment.

For gas models, ensure the fuel cap is tight and position the saw to minimize potential leakage. Keep the chainsaw away from passengers and other items that could be damaged.

Proper safety equipment is essential when operating any chainsaw. At minimum, you should have eye protection (safety glasses or a face shield), hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs), cut-resistant gloves, chainsaw chaps or pants, and sturdy boots with good traction.

Many rental facilities offer basic safety kits alongside chainsaw rentals. If you'll be using chainsaws regularly, investing in quality personal safety gear is advisable. Never operate a chainsaw without appropriate protective equipment, regardless of the job size.

While rental companies will rent chainsaws to beginners, inexperience significantly increases safety risks. If you've never used a chainsaw before, request a demonstration from the rental staff and thoroughly review the operator's manual before starting. Begin with smaller, more manageable cutting tasks to build comfort with the tool's operation.

For significant cutting jobs, consider either taking a chainsaw safety course first or hiring professionals instead. The learning curve for safe chainsaw operation is steep, and caution is paramount.

If mechanical problems develop during your rental, immediately cease operation and contact the rental company. Most reputable rental businesses will either provide a replacement chainsaw or repair the equipment if the breakdown resulted from normal use rather than misuse. Document the issue with photographs when possible and maintain records of when you reported the problem.

Having your rental agreement readily available when you call will expedite the resolution process. The rental company should adjust your rental period to account for any downtime.
