"We live out of state and were searching for a roofer to replace my mother’s roof. We spent a significant amount of time online researching roofers, interviewing them over the phone, getting inspections, reading online reviews, and speaking with references. We came across all types and eliminated one after the next. Fortunately, we found Texas Engineered Roofing that stood out light years from the rest. We called the company inquiring whether they carried worker’s comp insurance and was provided with a packet that not only included certificates of insurance but also the owner’s credentials, certifications, recent jobs performed, accomplishments, and awards received. That in and of itself made this company stand out from all the others. Everything was so professionally and meticulously prepared, a sign of what was to come. We were very impressed with Brad’s (the owner) knowledge, professionalism, responsiveness, honesty and thoroughness. Brad is extremely qualified; he is a professional engineer to boot. That educational knowledge gave us even more confidence in him. He came at the beginning of the job to inspect the interior of the attic to make sure nothing would be damaged while stapling and to locate where the attic fans should be installed. At the same time he detected other ducts that had to be replaced and completed that repair as well. He was very accommodating with scheduling our job and got the necessary permits in short order. The crew manager (Elias) was on the job from beginning to end. He too provided stellar customer service. He oversaw the project and made sure that quality workmanship was being produced. The crew were very skilled in their tasks, (there was even a dedicated person experienced in turrets) dependable, hardworking, and punctual. They worked in assembly line precision and were very pleasant to be around. The work area was properly prepped and cleaned each day. The job was finished in the agreed upon timeframe. There was no damage to the property or injuries on the job!! They were very easy to work with and immediately responded to any of our concerns. They clearly wanted to make sure that their workmanship warranty would never have to be used. and that the customer would be happy. They took great pride in delivering a top notch roof. We highly recommend them and would use them again."

"Other "storm chasing" roofers told me earlier that my roof should be replaced. However, Floyd Callen (and my insurance adjuster) told me it was fine. Following another recent hail storm I knew Callen was the only roofer that would give me an honest assessment. It was now time to replace the roof and Callen did a great job. Highly recommend them."

"I own several rental properties that James has done roof repairs. He is experienced, honest, professional, hard working, and his fee very reasonable. He would take pictures before and after repairs so that I don't have to physically go up on the roof to check. I trust him to do all my roof repairs/replacement."

"I was in need of a new roof after recently purchasing a home. My entire home buying process was a nightmare, and although receiving a roof is not directly part of buying a home, it was certainly the last step in getting settled in, uniquely being the easiest along the way. Great work sums up the service I received."

"I am very pleased. Ron and his crew were on time. Repair work was completed in the time estimated. The cost for the repair was very reasonable. Ron is truly an honest man-!which is hard to find in roofing. We really know. He had to make repairs on our 4 yr old roof. Our roof was originally was installed by Lux Roofing but had an issue with the roof for a dormer. Tony/Lux roofing didn't install the roof for the dormer properly. Lux roofing is now out of business. I am glad we found someone honest to take care of our repair. He is excellent. I would highly recommend Ron/ Geyer Roofing!"

"I had a unique problem in that my house was built in the '60's and the wood siding is a specially milled board that is no longer available. Since I only wanted to replace the siding that was rotten, the issue of matching the existing siding was important to me. After considerable discussion, I decided to go with the Hardie Artisan Lap Siding, which is considerably more expensive than Hardie-Plank, but it is thicker and the corners can be mitered. The crew did a fantastic job of installing this product on my dormers and is as close a match to the other existing siding as I could have hoped for. The siding on the garage is board and batten, and was rotten for about 4 or 5 inches up from the ground. I didn't want to replace all of it, so they cut off about 9 inches from the ground all the way around and installed two 1 X 10"s with Z flashing around the perimeter. Looks great. The rest of the work was new facia and gutters, and painting the house and garage. The crew that did the work on my house was first-rate. The crew leader was Rudy, and I would recommend this crew without reservation."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Crosby, TX

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
