"I called originally to get their advice on landscaping, to make my garden less maintenance-heavy. They came and did a good walk through, had some suggestions and arranged to draft a plan later. In the interim, they agreed to mulch and edge my garden beds. I also asked them to build up a bed that abuts the house, to prevent basement leaks in this location. They did a professional job on these counts, though (a) the charge seemed quite high for the amount of mulch provided (my neighbor subsequently bought mulch from them and found that they delivered about half of what he was expecting, based on a similar nominal amount purchased from another provider); (b) the basement was leak-free for almost a year but then leaked again in that location during a particularly stormy month, so I had to build it up more; (c) they never did get back to me about the original purpose for my call to them - the landscaping advice. Overall I'd say that the work was high quality and professional, but quite expensive. <br />"

"Excellent! They worked with our schedule; let us know if they were behind; all the work was done professionally; the results looked fantastic and they helped us put a little decorative stamp into the concrete. The helped us with putting in a nice curve too. It rained right after the job was done and they made sure to cover everything with plastic so the concrete would not be damaged while it was curing. It was a big messy job but they cleaned everything up and left our yard as neat as possible. Very nice folks, friendly and easy to work with. We are calling them again for more work later."

"We love our new driveway! I would recommend these guys in a heartbeat. I can say this wholeheartedly especially since we had a previous experience with poor workmanship with the concrete company that did all the concrete in our last house we built a few years ago. Kand M was contracted through Frey Construction. We are working with Frey on remodeling other areas of our house. <br /> Regardless, the crew was awesome! They poured the porch one day and returned a couple days later for the sidewalk and driveway pour. They worked with us very patiently with adjusting the sweep and curve of our new sidewalk and the shape of the driveway before the pour. The day they poured the sidewalk and driveway, my husband and I were fortunate to both be off work, because it was amazing to watch these 6-8 guys working, smoothing, and sweeping the cement. Like clockwork-everyone knew what they had to do. When rain threatened later that evening, DJ (name?) drove over to our house around 7pm to make sure the curb and gutter were set enough to handle the rain as they were the thickest cement and the last part poured. Now that is customer service!! <br /> Thanks to DJ, Lance and I'm sorry I can't remember more names for a beautiful driveway!! <br />"

"The project came out much better than I ever thought it would. We had pulled up the carpet and tile on the basement floor and it had left a black mastic that we could not get up. We did not want either tile or carpet back in the basement in case of any water leeks. Although  A O Handy is in Wisconsin, they assured me that it was not a problem for them coming to Chicago for the work. They ground down the cement floor in the basement (about 1000 sq ft) to remove the mastic and to level out some floor. In addition, they filled holes with a cement that matched the existing floor. They applied a clear sealer to the floor. While they were there, they suggested that they seal the concrete floor in the garage. Since they had all the materials there already, the cost would be significantly lower. Made sense to me, so I had them do that also. In that I had put most of the things from the basement in the garage, preping the garage was a huge job. The guys helped me clear out the garage and were a big help, especially with the heavy things. The only down side to the project was the odor from the sealer. The garage odor cleared out quickly, but it took weeks for the basement to air out since there was so little ventilation there. The finished results: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE??.. <br />"

FAQs for concrete flatwork repair & resurface projects in Cross Plains, WI

When evaluating whether patching can address your concrete blemishes, it’s important to assess the extent of the damage. Minor issues such as small cracks or chipped areas may be effectively repaired with patching techniques that restore the surface’s appearance. However, if you notice widespread deterioration, significant cracks, or structural weakening, resurfacing is recommended as a more durable, long‑term solution. A thorough evaluation by a concrete specialist can help determine the best course of action for restoring your concrete to its optimal condition.

The optimal time to resurface your concrete driveway is late spring. This period benefits from warm temperatures and softened ground conditions following winter’s freeze‑thaw cycles, ensuring that the new overlay bonds securely and matures to a durable finish. Resurfacing at this time also enhances your property's safety and curb appeal. Engage a concrete professional to schedule your project during this ideal season.
