"This was a great experience. Arrived on time and began right away to strip off the old roof. The crew was extremely efficient. They applied the new roofing materials expertly. When finished they cleaned up the entire site and it looked like no one had been there. I cannot praise them enough for the fantastic job they did. I would hire this company again in an instant. The price was reasonable and the new roof looks fantastic."

"I am 150% satisfied with the work ARHT Home Solutions did on my home. I would refer Mike and his company to everyone who needs roofing or home improvements done on their home. Mike was very thorough in explaining and comparing the roof repairs replacement when he comes. He made sure I understood everything they were going to do on my roof. On the day his company came, his crew first made sure to put tarps down for debris and not to do any harm to home. They were very efficient and well trained in the job they were doing and Mike kept me informed with texts and pictures with each step they did to my roof. I am glad I went with Mike and AHRT Home Solutions and have already told many people about him and his company and hope they use ARHT Home Solutions also. It was the best decision I ever made about doing replacing my roof and will use this company for any other repairs to my home."

"I have used the Tomas Brothers for a deck tear down and rebuild, installation of new windows and doors, and complete remodeling of our club room/basement including a small bathroom. They were responsive to my requests and creative in making a lovely cabinet to hide the sump pump. I will definitely call them when ready for the next project!"

"A roofer arrived at my place around 1pm (same day as my phone call). He examined the drywall and examined the roof. He quickly determined that what I was seeing was actually yellowed tape where pieces of drywall had been joined together showing through the less than adequate paint job. I'm sure he was right. The stain was a perfectly straight line and my original home renovator did a sloppy job. I was embarrassed that I had called him out, but he was very polite about it. Horizon Roofing is awesome, and I would recommend them to anyone!"

"Lucky for me, a recent windstorm ripped off my gable fascia. I say lucky because my insurance adjuster brought with him Randall Specht from ReBuild Inc. He also inspected my 3-yr old roof and, although there was no wind damage, Mr. Specht identified shortcuts taken by my original roofing firm –shortcuts I would never have seen nor had the knowledge to identify. According to the shingle manufacturer, those shortcuts were not in accordance with their approved installation methods; problems would not have been covered by my warranty nor would any resulting damage. Although Mr. Specht was brought in only to identify potential wind damage, his professionalism and patient detailed explanation provided me with enough information to intelligently discuss the installation issues with the manufacturer and my original roofing firm. Then, after the original roofer “fixed” his installation errors, I had additional questions about the repair quality. Although I am a civil engineer, I am not knowledgeable about roofing practices. Recalling how professional Mr. Specht was, I contacted him again. He was as generous with his time & explanation as he was originally. Kudos to ReBuild!! Mr. Specht’s professionalism – his honesty, customer service and…kindness -- speaks volumes about him and ReBuild. He went out of his way to ensure I could have my original roofer fix my roof correctly, even though nothing was in it for him or for his firm. This company is what we always hope for we get when we hire a contractor; they will be the first one I call when I have a remodeling project or need a repair done. They are the ones I will recommend to my friends and neighbors."

"Dynamic did an outstanding job. They removed the original roof and conducted a full inspection which revealed that the original contractor had not met code (flashing, sealing) They corrected all the issues and the final product is outstanding.
Upon completion of the job the crew cleaned up the yard as if they had never been there. They even used a large magnet to pick up any nails which may have fallen onto the grass.
Excellent work, Thank you Dynamic."

"I selected 5 roofers from Consumers Checkbook in my area with good reviews and received proposals from 4 of them. (Did not reach the 5th one.) Welsh was the lowest. A normal rule of thumb is to reject the highest and lowest, but I read all the reviews on Welsh on Angie's List and decided to go with him. He also seemed friendly and easy to talk to. (I dealt with Greg, the father.) All the contractors recommended the same product: CertainTeed's Integrity roof system. They disagreed about the best underlayment, and after researching underlayments, I decided that the pros and cons of each were too difficult to figure out, so I decided to use whichever one each contractor recommended. Welsh prefers CertainTeed's Roofer's Select felt. One consideration was that Welsh uses a dump truck rather than a dumpster, which might damage the driveway. My driveway has brick pavers and there is an adjoining flagstone patio. When the shingles were delivered, Welsh made sure that the truck driver did not place his outriggers (the things that stabilize the crane) on the pavers or flagstone. He and his crew arrived before 7:00 am and worked until almost 6:00 pm, completing the job in one day. I have an upper-middle-class sized house. I'm reaffirming Welsh's top ratings on Angie's List. A word of advice: Stay away from any contractor that insists on both spouses being present when providing the estimate. That tells you they are all about high pressure sales and will pressure you into signing for an inflated price without getting competitive bids. The previous year, I had made 2 appointments through salesmen which were later cancelled after someone in charge called and was unable to persuade me that both spouses must be present. None of the 4 contractors that gave me proposals this year cared about whether my spouse would be present."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Crownsville, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
