"Steve Parker of Duramax responded quickly to our concerns about a roof leak, arriving at our house only two hours after I called him. He made necessary repairs around a fireplace vent in less than an hour. A company I contacted earlier had sent a representative who didn't even go up on the roof but asked me to call him Friday after the next time it rained. After seeing the photos Steve took, I'm sure the roof would have leaked again had I waited. Steve was courteous and professional, and understanding about our concerns. I would hire him again in an instant and recommend him to friends."

"After interviewing 5 different roofing companies, I chose Moss Roofing. I liked the fact that Benny, the Project Manager, was going to be present the day the job was done. Benny was great at answering my many questions & offered to bring out roofing samples, e-mail a pic of my roof with sample shingles superimposed on it, & nail some samples to my roof when I was having difficulty choosing a new color of shingle. In addition to the roof being replaced, I also was having my chimney replaced with a chimney cap by a heating/cooling company. Moss had to remove my old chimney & coordinate the roof installation with the chimney cap installation. Everything was done the same day with no issues. There was a small problem with the gutter installation, but Moss took care of it immediately & to my satisfaction. Beverly, the owner, was very professional & followed-up on everything. I was very happy with the work they did!"

"Before the job was sold the sales team headed by Mike Hawkins were very professional, courteous but right after the signed contact job was delayed due to their internal department mixup. I was not communicated of any delay and had to call numerous people to get the response. During the whole process they worked with my insurance company and finished the work on time and the roof looked great. Right after job was completed I noticed my porch gutter leaking at the joint. It was a new leak which I thought would be the result of shingles being thrown while install. After sending video of the leak to the sales, install and customer service I didn’t get any response then finally I complained to their General Manger Grant and he came to inspect the leaking gutter and said the age of the gutter may be the cause of the leak but he will get it caulked. It has been more than a week, email and text message to their General Manager Grant has still not fixed the leaking gutter. Roof replacement was a good job but if there is any problem later on with their work I will not depend on their warranty commitment. I will not recommend them to others for their after sales service commitment."

"Rob & his crew from CRP Contractors did a fantastic job in replacing my wind/hail damaged roof as well as installing new gutters/downspouts. The estimate was fair & affordable. Rob was upfront & honest throughout the entire process and was always willing & able to answer any of my questions in a timely fashion. They completed the entire roof in one day & then took care of the gutters right after. They also did an amazing job on the clean up, leaving absolutely nothing behind. I would definitely use CRP Contractors again & would heavily recommend them to anyone in need of roofing/gutter/siding services!"

"This is the third project we have done with Universal. They previously replaced a skylight and did some work on our front porch and those jobs went so well it was only natural that we would go with them for our major roof work. Rob worked with our insurance company and was very transparent through the entire process. When it was time for our project to start, we were given a start date ahead of time and a crew began work when they said they would. The work done was beautiful, and we could not be happier. Everyone on site communicated effectively and often with us, were respectful of my house, and cleaned up well when the project was over. I would highly recommend Universal. Now that I have a long term, water tight roof, I know I won’t need them up there again but I will certainly call them first for any future projects!"

"Is it possible to give A++++ to a business? Cliff took so many photos of the things he found wrong it was kind of frightening to see what was really underneath our old roof. They did a great job and installed new decking which insurance never pays for but in the end is really the foundation of the job to get it done correctly so that the homeowner doesn't need to worry about it again for many many years. He corrected our ridge vent verses attic fan issue which our previous contractor told us was fine to have in our unfinished garage and detached shop also. They showed us all of the photos of things that were wrong and being corrected before correcting them in case my husband want to go up and check it out to ask more questions. He fixed our gutters so they don't dump water out the front and into our basement anymore. Our basement is finally completely dry. It has not been that way for 8 years that we have lived there. He communicated well, followed up with us during the job and even after it during his vacation at Christmas time and all. It was a great experience that I never thought was possible in the roofing industry. I would highly recommend him in the roofing and guttering business to anyone that wants to get an honest bid for honest high quality work on their roof. Great job JSC!!!!!!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Danville, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
