"We are making several home improvements including the installation of new windows that can greatly reduce energy loss in our 1980s home. We recently chose Power Home Remodeling to replace all of our 35-year-old second-floor windows and are pleased with both the windows and their installation. The double-hung vinyl windows look great and operate smoothly. Power Home Remodeling offers highly heat-resistant windows that were custom-designed and built for them by Pella - exactly what we were looking for. Installation went smoothly, with good communication prior to the install date. The crew arrived on time, talked to us about the process and worked efficiently. They finished their work, including thorough cleanup both inside and out, in just a few hours. A Power Home Remodeling representative visited us shortly after the installation to inspect the work, talk with us about a minor exterior-paint issue and arrange for that to be corrected to our satisfaction."

"We have an 1976 contemporary era home with original cedar siding. I had a hard time finding someone who had experience doing repair work on such expensive and delicate material until I found Vail-Syde Construction. Ruston was an absolute professional and pleasure to work with. He showed up when he said he would, didn’t try to upsell me, was able to source the cedar siding which is not readily available and does top quality work in a timely manner. He and his crew put our house back together beautifully and we are thrilled to have found such a great company to work with. I have hired many subcontractors for our home renovation over the last year and Ruston is a stand out. I plan to use them in the future for all our siding repairs and more."

"I give Kevin, and his crew my highest recommendation. Quality work, clean up, and excellent communication. I needed my back deck rebuilt, and a new roof put on after some storm damage. I was highly impressed with the new roof, and decided to have the roof extended over the new deck in the process. We now have a really cool outside area to use that we never utilized before. We couldn’t be happier with the experience. I will be having them back out to do some additional work on my carport soon."

"Melvin and his crew arrived right on time and were very accommodating to work on street since driveway was filled with trucks of workers who were working on a renovation project that day. Both vehicles looked great inside and out after the work was done. On both vehicles he was able to buff out many light scratches. The SUV could pass for new at this point. I will use Quick 'n Brite again and have recommended them to family and friends."

"More drama certainly than I'd hoped or intended with this transaction:
- Took a fair bit of effort to communicate, coordinate, and see the project through
- Weather-Tite asserted that the roof had hail damage, necessitating engagement of insurance assessor who (maybe unsurprisingly) disagreed; ultimately no action was taken based on the differing assessments of this unplanned issue
- When work was ultimately performed, there was an incident wherein a caulk gun was dropped off the roof and onto our car's windshield and hood, necessitating windshield replacement and body work
- On the latter, Weather-Tite immediately took responsibility and did pay for this, but again payment receipt took some prodding and reminding before it was finally received

"The appointment was scheduled for 11am but they called a half hour before and needed to change the time. That was fine with me, so it was rescheduled later in the day.
The appointment went great. I described the changes needed and they walked me through what would happen. The cable was from outside, so they were able to go through the outside wall and through the crawl space. They added a new cable plug and electrical plug for the tv to be mounted. They even fed the wires through the wall which is great cause you don't see any cables on the mounted tv.
Took only a few minutes to fix the ceiling fan. They did some troubleshooting and found it was wired incorrectly. They fixed it right away.
Overall I was very happy with the service. I was quoted a price online that was slightly different then the final cost, but I felt it was still a good deal. I'll use them again without hesitation.

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Denver, NC

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
