"Shamus has provided us with the best service on all kinds of jobs. He has always been here when he said he would be. He has repaired chimney leak, built railings, painted both indoor and outdoor, power washed roof and house, repaired wood on deck, fixed doors, done plumbing work, and many other various repairs. He is reliable, reasonable and always pleasant. We feel fortunate to have him working for us. He has become a dear friend. We would highly recommend Shamus for any kind of work."

"Exceptionally well. When the roofing contractor we had initially hired had to back out, we found ourselves with a pile of shingles and roofing supplies . We were in a quandary and up against the click. A search on the internet revealed two qualified roofing contractors. Both had solid ratings but only one got a comparable bid submitted on time which was extremely important to our insurance underwriter: Hometrust. Co-owner Jordan Addison followed up with a prompt visit. He actually started his roof analysis while in his truck on his computer. Jordan is very personable and easy to talk to professionally— a trait very important to any homeowner. As a retired home remodeler myself, I was aware that roofing contractors prefer to take care of materials using their own supply chains. Yet Jordan assured us that his company would have no problem integrating what we had with what was needed. He stated that his crew would be on the job at sun up . They actually showed up before sunrise. His crew works with disciplined precision. They treated areas needing repair and applied industry standards to the architectural shingles we chose. On a steamy humid June day, these guys put in close to 12 hours working steadily through the conditions. The finished roof was completed with gutters done on sight on the SAME day— something people don’t always get. We chose the color we wanted which complemented the shingles. The entire roof looks fabulous. It will last for years. Hometrust’s crew did a good job cleaning the premises and hauled all waste off promptly. All in all, this was a great experience. A one day turnaround done professionally with skill and precision. In short Hometrust delivered. We”re very satisfied customers . I’d definitely recommend their services,"

"Our salesman, Blake, was very informative and really nice. We were updated when they would be dropping off materials as well as when they would start. The crew put tarps down to catch the old roof that they scraped off and they cleaned up after they completed the job. The only reason I gave four stars is that they broke a few garden solar lights, mashed a couple of plants, we found about ten roofing nails around the perimeter of the house, part of the drip edge wasn't properly installed and there was a high area on the corner of the roof. These items were repaired by Blake within a week of completion."

"They are actually a national firm.  I spent between $8000 and $10000.  They did the complete tear down and reshingle in one day.  They had 10 guys working here.  They worked hard.  They did it quickly.  There wasn't any inconvenience at all.  They got up there and did the work.  I don't know anybody else who does it in one day with the size of the roof that we have.  We've got a 4000 sqft house.  I was happy."

"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Dillard, GA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
