"When I had first reached out to them and it was after hours and left a message and Ben called back the next morning and in one hour, Ben and Kevin came in the door, assessed the mess with all the old wiring, presented their very fair estimate and the next day they here on time, completed the work on the estimate and all in proper working condition. Did I mention they were, ON TIME, and COMPLETED THE WORK without excuses Ben and Kevin exceeded, my approval, in the standards of excellent work ethics?"

"I was referred by the hardware store Pro Program for Master Electrician to do some projects we needed accomplished. Skeptical at first; Then, I received a call about 15 minutes later after submitting my proposed project. John, the Master Electrician with Calvary Electric with over 20+ years of experience, said to me, I am extremely busy but I promise, I will work you in within the week. Only two days later, he shows up and is ready to install (2) ceiling fans, switches, run additional electrical lines, etc. John broke everything down, step-by-step for us, what our options are and the exact price it would take to get the projects completed. Then, he noticed I was wearing a Marine Combat-Wounded cover. He said, you are a Vet I see, that is an automatic 10% off I told him he did not need to do that and he said, When I do a job, I look for discounts for the people that request my services, it is the least I can do. I was shocked. We talked a little more and my wife, Rachel and I, made a decision and John got right to work. During the install, he gave continuous updates on where he was and what he was doing. After the project was completed, we did a walk through together (John, Rachel, and Myself) and we were shocked at how outstanding it turned out! He showed us both fan features, how he changed the switches around, so it would be easier for us to control. Then, Joh cleaned up the work areas he had been in. It was cleaner after John left than it was before he arrived. He shook both of our hands, thanked me for my Service, and told us if you have any issues, any at all, contact me immediately and handed me his business card. In summation, I have been around the world while in the Marines. Met, talked and worked with a lot of different and very passionate people, who love their professions. John loves what he does and has that passion to do the very best job he can do, for his customers. John, hands down, is the VERY BEST at what he does, period. My father was in construction for over 30+ years as a General Contractor. So, I have also worked and talked with the civilian side of the Contracting world. Again, you will not find a better Master Electrician than John. I am not into writing things up for people like this however, I wanted people to know that there is a true value, spirit, and faith out there; and it shows in his quality of work and his candor towards his customers. "I had some complaints which I listed in my previous review. They refunded the $189 fee that I had disputed. But I must add this in their favor--last night DTE's power went out, and the whole-house battery kicked in flawlessly. Despite the bumps with the install and air conditioner repair person, when I needed the system to work, it worked flawlessly. Original Review: I am posting this review to warn people against contracting with Oak Electric of Waterford, MI. Monday 6/1 I turned on my central air for the first time and found that the condenser would not turn on, so I phoned Oak Electric. I called Oak Electric because in January I had hired them to install some solar panels on my roof. They botched the installation (this will likely be the subject of a second complaint next week; they still have not fixed the botched solar installation), and I suspected that they made a wiring mistake that broke my ac condenser. I was wrong in this specific suspicion, but correct to feel suspicious about Oak Electric's competence. Oak Electric sent a repair person. The repair person told me that the fault was a defective control panel. The repair person said that since the brand was Nordyne, it was not worth his time to find the part, but he wished me luck and charged me $189. After several hours of searching I found the part, and phoned a local air conditioning repair company to ask them to purchase the part and install it (I could not purchase the part myself because the seller, RH Townsend of Warren, MI, will only sell to licensed mechanical contractors). Thankfully, the other representative was competent. Instead of purchasing the part he instead came to my house to look at the condenser. First he tested the control panel and told me that it was working correctly. He then tested the unit for freon and found it was almost empty; the control panel was not allowing the device to turn on because the freon was low. In other words, the information I received from the Oak Electric technician was false. The control panel was not broken; to the contrary, it was working as designed. The representative stated flatly that any competent ac technician sent to diagnose a non-working condenser would check the freon level, and that failing to check the freon level and charging $189 for the visit was ridiculous. The Oak Electric technician was incompetent and in no way deserving of his $189 payment. I asked Oak Electric to refund my $189, and they have not replied. I would like Oak Electric to refund the $189 I paid for their useless, worthless, incompetent anti-service. I'm not holding my breath."

"The owner was 15 minutes early every day. He and his associate were organized and very neat. They also cleaned up after themselves when they were done. There was an oversight during the estimate phase however he didn’t charge me for all of the extra costs associated with the over site. He was receptive to suggestions and added new projects for the appropriate cost of course. I had another contractor bid on my project. His estimate was $20,000. At the conclusion of my project it will cost about $8,000. I have been very happy with this company and would hire him again!"
