"Hank was a life-saver! We needed an estimate to do the job while negotiating the price of the house. Hank understood the urgency, was right there, and produced a very accurate estimate for a job of uncertain parameters. We closed on the house, and continued to live 1.5 hours away while Hank did the work on the house - he had to make many decisions himself, and all were the right ones. He did the job with as little damage to walls/ceilings as humanly possible due to forethought and expertise. We moved in, and the most frequent comment as we got settled was "How 'bout Hank? That is exactly where the outlet should be!" or "we didn't think of that, but Hank did!" A true professional, knowledgeable and thoughtful, respectful of old houses - we highly recommend Marsh River Electrical!"

"Very professional and efficient. I felt that communication was clear, and he made sure that I was 100% happy with the job before he left. Everything was explained clearly to me from start to finish, and he guided me on purchasing my EV charging box. I would definitely hire Jeff again for any future electrical work."

"I hired Bill to change a 15amp outlet to a 20amp. The job was more in depth than I anticipated because of the distance from circuit breaker to outlet location and the need for new wiring. We discussed discussed other location possibilities, but Bill was confident he could complete the job as I had planned. He did so with absolute confidence and professionalism. Much appreciated!"

"I hired this company to do electrical run from my house to my shed. I was so impressed with their work and then reasonable price for the work they did. I had another problem with electric in my kitchen. I called them to come and fix it which they did in a short amount of time for a reasonable price. I would call them anytime."

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Durham, ME

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
