"It went very well. They came out and helped me put a claim through to insurance company. They met the insurance appraiser when they came out to access the roof and after the insurance company decided I had a claim Sanchez tore off and gave me a new roof on the house and garage. They were professional, on time, and completed the job in 2 1/2 days. They cleaned up. They went over and beyond and installed 2 new skylights to my house too."

"Preferred roofing & Exteriors messaged me within half hour of messaging them. Fastest of the 3 companies I messaged. Mike showed up, he was professional, very knowledgeable of what was needed to be done. He inspected my attic and roof and found the issue. He did not charge me a service fee like the other two companies were trying to do. Super cool guy. If You were to ever need anything he's your guy. Thanks Mike"

"All Square Roofing did an excellent job replacing my roof after the hail storm in April. Their salesman John Kornacki was extremely helpful with the insurance claim and very thorough in his inspection. Would definitely recommend. ?"

"Robert was very responsive and told me that I could have my leak fixed rather than replacing my whole roof. He repaired the leak and I haven't had any more issues with it. A few years later he came back after a storm and was honest with me that I didn't need replacement after a few shingles were lifted by wind. I really appreciate his honesty."

"I found Apex on Angie's List. I had contacted several others (also on the list) but Andy Kerman from Apex was the only one to respond and arrange a face to face meeting. <br /> Andy met with us several times and we kept in contact mainly by email and phone. Andy was always quick to respond to my messages and honestly answered all our questions. He assigned us some "homework" to do regarding picking out fixtures, floor and wall tiles. This helped us to have an "investment" of time and effort in the project. I was also an invaluable learning experience to see what was available in today's marketplace. <br /> Apex crew members Albert and Kyle removed all the fixtures and debris & cleaned up as they went along. Since this is the only bathroom they had to make arrangements to keep a functioning toilet as soon after demolition and sub-floor repairs would permit. They also made sure that the water supply was not interrupted any longer than was necessary. Toilet function was maintained throughout the course of the job. <br /> Apex installed 3/4 plywood and half inch cement board as well as a new tub-shower unit, commode and pedestal sink. New in-wall mounted medicine cabinet and over the john storage cabinet. <br /> Tile was installed on the floor and walls (up 45 inches from floor). The existing door was removed. The inside casing was replaced and hall side casing was (carefully) removed to be reinstalled. <br /> A new door and inside casing were installed and window jamb extension with trim. The door side facing the hall was stained and finished to match up with the existing woodwork. The match was done extremely well and matches the 60+ year old trim almost exactly. <br /> Because the bathroom is small, there were some challenges regarding installation of larger components. However, the Apex crew handled them quickly, quietly and systematically. They never showed any uncontrolled frustration even when things were very tight. Bert and Kyle were always on time and worked the entire time they were here except for a short break in the morning and lunch. They were always courteous and answered any questions. They also provided guidance when questions arose regarding placement of some secondary items. <br /> <br />"

"The roof replacement was fine, but he didn't seal/paint the soffit. This caused a delay in the completion of the repairs I need to complete for an appraiser to sign off on the sale of the house, which caused a delay in the close date. Punctuality and professionalism. <br />"

"I contacted 6 roofers from Angies List. I recieved quotes from 3. Roger Lange was out to inspect my roof and  gave me a quote the same day. The other 2 that did quotes took over 2 weeks! Once we submited the contract and down payment sample boards were dropped off for our final color choice. Called 2 days later with our color and Roger told us he could start whenever we wanted. The day before the job we were called to confirm and they let us know when the cew would be there. Morning of work the crew showed up early and went straight to work putting down tarps and seting up. When finished they took all the trash and swpt the yard and driveway with a magnet for stray nails. Roof looks great and the crew was professional and hard working. I would recomend Lange <br /> to anyone! <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in East Chicago, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
