"Quoted a price in early spring and held the quote until I was ready to have the work done in the fall. Company was willing to work with me, offering several quotes at my request for different roofing materials. Once work started thing went very smooth. Very clean when tearing off the old roof. You would not know they were even there after the job was complete except for the new roof. Job was completed within one week and the roof works and looks great."

"Professional in every respect. Setting up the initial visit was easy, through Ronda, Trey's (the owner's) wife. She also arranged for us to pay the metal supplier directly, to gain air miles on our credit card with no surcharge. Trey was so clearly an expert when he came to prepare for the bid that we had no need for a bid from any other contractor. Trey's cousin, Chris, came for the measurement, and astutely suggested that our 4 soil stacks be moved closer to the ridge line to minimize snow load and prevent the recurring breakage of the pipes that we've experienced year after year (which they later did on 3 that were possible, at no extra charge, because a smaller number of plywood sheets were used than included in the original bid.) Step-son Cole came for the required lab analysis of existing tar-paper on the house, again a pro. DJ, Trey's nephew, was the foreman on the job, with a team of 3-5 men over 5 full days, all extremely adept at handling huge sheets of 16" wide metal on the multi-layer roof. And the artistry in cutting the metal flashing, especially at the so visible corners, is something to behold. Every day ended with a thorough cleanup, using the mother of all magnets. We have gone from an eye-sore to a set of roofs that we suspect small planes are purposely flying over just to get a better look!"

"The company was very informative and efficient, and we are happy with both the aesthetic and practical results. We are also happy to have a greater sense of security about the danger posed by fire, which has been a worry because we live in a forested area far from emergency services. The workers were polite and professional and cleaned up the site pretty well. It was expensive, but we're very satisfied with the work."

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"My wife and I can not say enough positive things about our experience working with Brad and Scott at Straight Line. Throughout the entire process of designing and building our home, they were thoughtful, courteous, and very responsive. From the outset, they were very clear on what the costs for the entire project would be and provided very detailed cost breakdowns for each element. Moreover, when we had questions or wanted to make changes (either additions or subtractions) they kept very detailed records and were clear with us about how that would impact the budget. At the end of the entire project, when I compared my estimated cost for all the changes with their's, Brad's numbers were lower than I expected! <br /> Beyond just being very clear and direct, the work done was of the highest quality. We've lived in our house for just over 4 months and don't have any complaints whatsoever! <br /> Without a doubt, we'll work with Straight Line again and give them our highest possible recommendation as a general contractor and builder. <br />"

"Went to Lowes to check out laminate flooring. They had what we wanted at the price we wanted. We ordered the product, and set up an install date. The installers were a delight to have around. The first day they ran into a problem. The floor in the living room that was supposed to have been fixed by a contractor was not done even close to correct. So we went ahead and hired the flooring installers to correct the problem. The problem was corrected within an hour maybe two at the most. Then they went ahead with the install of the laminate flooring. They finished on the second day. There was a little Lump in the laminate in the walkway they word right on the spot to come in and fix it. I was very pleased with the product and the install. <br />"

"The heater they supplied was a good one.  However, they sent an inexperienced repairman to replace the heater.  He slipped and fell through our newly remodeled bathroom.  The company repaired the hole in the wall with the wrong texture and then wrong the  type of grout.  We are going to have ceiling repaired by a company recommended by the my daughter who works for one of the largest builders in the country.  I have cancelled my service with the warrantee company.  I now have to pay an additional $150.00 to have the ceiling refloated and all the wrong grout taken off and replaced with the correct type. <br /> <br /> *In response to service provider response: We hired 1 contractor that they recommended. He came out and said that he did a lot of work for High Tech. He fell through the ceiling that same day. We called High Tech the same day. They wanted my husband to go up in to the ceiling to get a model number. He is 79 years old and could not do that. We then had to contact a different service provider and pay an extra $150.00."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in East Wenatchee, WA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
