"Very well. We had some bad rotten plywood, & a dangerous electrical situation....all came up during the work. DryTECH identified & solved the issues....excellent problem solvers. The crew were the hardest working people I've ever seen. Highly skilled & completely focused on the job. The new roof looks great, & I have confidence that the work was done well."

"Recent high winds had loosened the vinyl wrap on the fascia board on the front of our house. The poorly-installed wrap was evidently the only thing holding the soffit vents in place, and 3 of them dropped to the ground below. I contacted Jessie at Antietam Roofing and got an estimate on the repair cost. Because of inclement weather, he said it would probably be 3 days before they could do the work. When I called him near the estimated day, he said they would be there as promised and that the crew would call when they were on their way. I got a call the morning of the repair to let me know they were on their way. Tony (head guy) and Michael (his assistant) arrived right on time. Tony described what caused the problem and what he suggested doing to keep it from happening again (i.e., nail the wrap to the sill and do it with more than 2 nails!). We agreed on the plan, and they immediately started to work. They were finished in about an hour. The repair looks great."

"Working with HomeCraft was great! They came out quickly to give a quote, answered all our questions and were upfront about pricing. They weren't the cheapest quotes or most expensive quote, but their reputation and customer recommendations is what made us pick them. My day of install went smoothly, the team arrived promptly at 7am and completed my roof the same day. The team was kind, respectful and hard workers. The install team works really well together and was respectful of my landscaping and property. The clean-up crew was amazing!! They made sure there was no debris left behind and scanned the yard (front and back) for any potential nails. In all honesty we only found one nail they missed. They were amazing!!! The clean up crew actually came back after the dumpster was removed a to ensure there were no nails in the street! The project went exactly how Elliot said it would, teams arrives, does the tear off, roof inspection, plywood replacement (if any - we had 5 boards), roofing delivered, dumpster delivered, clean up, dumpster removed. We highly recommend using HomeCraft!"

"Wanted to match the two new windows installed during Kitchen renovation 11 yrs prior. Initially called a local company who sent out a rep, did a quick walk-thru, scheduled another person to come and measure for estimate, who never showed. After calling and reschedule, still a no-show. I then contacted Andersen Corporate in MN, who recommended Advance. What an amazing difference! Matt Skibiki arrived when promised, very professional and knowledgeable. Impressed us as a gentleman who was very familiar with all aspects of the job. After expressing our displeasure with the manner in which the two windows were trimmed outside from our prior renovation, he assured us that their work would be nothing like that. He contacted us with their estimate shortly thereafter, with a personal promise from Gary the owner that we would be very impressed with their workmanship or they would make it right, which was documented in our contract. Gary Craig then came and measured for the order, another great guy, obviously very experienced and professional, indicating that our inside trim would be left intact unless they found some bad wood. Amazing! We were forewarned up front that the order would take months, totally understood especially during the supply-chain issues in today’s world……heck, we’d been waiting 32 years, what’s a few months…..! Megan had to reschedule us a couple times for weather issues, but the big day finally came on the coldest day in 3 years! The install crew arrived punctually that morning, Cory, Mark, & Ray, more great, professional, and courteous guys! What a team!! They worked like a well-oiled machine, really put us at ease regarding the outside trim, and did IMPECCABLE work!! In bitter cold no less. These guys did not mess around, were so friendly, and did really craftsman-like work, cleaned everything up, even removed the film and stickers from the glass. Just can’t say enough. We don’t even need to paint the inside trim, just amazing. And outside is very tastefully trimmed out……totally transformed our house-just incredible! WE’re SO glad we found Advance, and will be calling them again. I apologize if I left anyone out, rest assured that everyone we had contact with throughout the entire process was friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. It’s a big investment & you worry about the entire process, we couldn’t have chosen a better outfit. Thank you."

"This company was the first to call me at 7:40am during a tropical storm and was able to squeeze me in that morning. Anthony came out and was lovely, he did the work professionally and was easy to talk to. He explained the company's care package and a few minor issues on my roof that I should have replaced. In addition, he found that the leaking on my roof was not indeed, a roof problem, but a plumbing problem from one of the vents coming out of the bathroom. I will work with them again and will sign up to their package deal which would protect us for 1 year after service and minor fixes to flashing and such."

"This company replaced Monarch Roofing at 5511 Maggie St, Baltimore, MD. 21225. It went great and the guys were so nice. I previously used this company in 2010 to add aluminum siding on my front porch. I called again but found they had new owners and no longer did siding. I had projects for two homes, both required gutter covers and aluminum coating on the porch roof. One house also needed window shutters replaced and one needed a downspout replaced and porch siding caulked. The old downspout was underground and clogged causing water to backup to the gutter and overflow when it rained. They gave me the cost to dig underground to replace piping or recommended bringing it above ground. I also called Homeserve to see if my insurance covered it and BGE Home to see if they offered a different price with my plumbing Smart plan. No, and no. I went with the above ground downspout replacement. Monarch also removed the cast iron device that held the old downspout in place and covered the hole in cement."

"My gutters decided to fail, during the rainiest week of a very rainy summer. Water was coming in through my front door and exterior walls and I was literally at wit’s end. I called The Gutter Guys late Friday and they had an estimator out to my house by the next business day. James, the estimator, arrived in the middle of a raging thunderstorm. He didn’t complain even though I dragged him out in the driving rain to witness my broken gutter. He was familiar with the type of gutter protection system I had and said that his company could repair it and rehang the gutter properly (part of the problem was that the gutter was originally installed too low relative to the roof line). Furthermore, the work done would be covered by a lifetime guarantee against clogging and material failure. Work on this project was scheduled within two weeks of the estimate. Josh and Steve arrived on time and after explaining to me what they would be doing, went right to work. They completed the job in about three hours. I particularly appreciated that Josh pointed out a piece of rotting fascia board that had previously been hidden behind the gutter. They also took note of my concern about my slate roof and cable connections and took special care not to disturb the shingles or the cables. Two hours after Josh and Steve completed their work, another thunderstorm arrived. The repaired gutters performed perfectly. This company was a pleasure to work with at every point of contact. The price charged was fair and the employees very professional. I am a very satisfied customer."

"It was okay. It was a pretty short visit because my gutters were not as clogged as I thought they were. They had warned me about this. We had gutter guards on. I had asked them to lift them up to check underneath. They weren't really able to get it back on in the way that looks very nice. There were some areas where the roof now is a little bit bent in. Everything else was fine. They came basically like a couple of days after. They were very timely. The interaction was very positive. The guys were very friendly and helpful. They were able to explain what they were doing. I just would have liked the roof to be back in the same way before they got here. The shingles are actually bent in in some places. They did warn me about it. I guess the price was good. I was okay with the price they charged. I would probably not use them in the future."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Elkton, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
