"RECOMMENDATION of Garden Artisans We contacted Garden Artisans and several landscape companies near Princeton for consultation regarding replacement of aged rhododendrons, azaleas and evergreen shrubs damaged by wet and heavy snows in recent years. Garden Artisans was the first to reply to our inquiries and immediately scheduled a Saturday survey and consultation. Peter Jamet, the owner, came and discussed our objectives, and budget. We have a colonial home sited on a corner lot on 3 acres with old growth hardwoods in Princeton. As we don������������t have deer fencing and do have deer, we wanted deer-proof landscaping and natural looking plantings. Within a week of the consultation Peter was ready to make a present his design proposal. He brought scales drawings of the plantings across the front and side of our house and a bed near the driveway entrance surrounding our carriage lamppost and mailbox. Together with the drawings he had photos of every tree species, shrub, flower and grass proposed for the plantings. He described why he had chosen them. Part of his plan of scale and distribution was to create color throughout the seasons and evergreen color sustained throughout the year with certain elements of the planting. He has tailored the cost to our budget and offered both upgrade options and cost saving options for each of the specimen trees. He recommended the ideal time for planting so as to get the plantings successfully established before the winter. We set a date and Peter with his crew came and prepared the plot exactly as scheduled. Two weeks before the planting he provided photos of the exact specimen trees and shrubs to be installed. Once the beds were prepared Peter again came to position the specimens personally and ask our review and approval before actually putting the plants in the ground. Immediately after the planting we were taking a three week holiday and Peter provided attending and watering to ensure the health our new landscaping. He again came, unprompted and reviewed all the shrubs six weeks after planting. The plantings are now ten weeks in the ground and every plant is in excellent condition. We are extremely pleased with the design and selected species. It has been a pleasure working with Garden Artisans. The work was done exactly on schedule and was professional and very careful in removing old shrubbery and cleaning up and reseeding areas not to be replanted. The entire job was done within our budget in a very artfully conceived, professional and carefully planned manner. We have owned several homes and done projects of this scale but have never had this level of precision and care in the design, selection of specimens, planting and after-care. In other projects we have experienced a number of trees and shrubs dying within weeks of the planting and have had to pay to replace them. "Work was done professionally. The reason for three stars is VALUE. The same American Standard Pro elongated , chair height toilet is $179.00 at Home Depot. This includes the toilet seat and all parts needed to install the toilet. Labor from one of the Home Depot plumbers is $228.00 . This includes removal and disposal of the old toilet. I paid your company $691.00.You charged $350 for the same toilet. You charged $40 for the plastic toilet seat. You charged $350 for labor. This installation would have cost $407.00 from Home Depot with a one year warranty. Of course, there would have been a two week wait for installation. Since this was not an emergency, that would have been no problem. So your company charges 40% more than Lowes also. I can give you the figures if necessary==apples to apples. That is why I had to ask Michael for a detailed invoice . The original invoice was opaque with no details regarding cost of parts and labor."

"Chris and his crew were excellent. The extent of Chris' knowledge was quite impressive. He made me feel like I was finally in good hands by showing and thoroughly discussing everything he found. During his inspection he checked every possible issue that could be causing the problems. He explained the repair processes necessary and showed me as he was doing them. They were courteous and cleaned up, leaving my property cleaner than when they arrived. They were very polite and more than willing to do whatever was necessary to help me complete the project as I wanted. "We had a shed pad installed for our new shed. Bob really worked to make sure we understood the different types of pads we could get as well as the ground leveling process. He was the only contractor we talked to that put the pad in the ground (excavating some dirt) so that it didn't just sit on top. As an added bonus, he swiped away a patch of really thick ivy that we've been struggling with. When scheduling the pad, he did delay the installation due to weather issues, showing real concern that if we didn't delay at least a day, the installation would be less than the professional level he likes to leave with. I left for the morning to go to work and when I came home, the pad was ready for a shed.
