"Tom was very professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. Very nice and respectable man to deal with, and I had no worries about leaving him at my residence unattended to complete his work. He came to my place in a timely manner, inspected the areas he would be working on, and then rendered me a reasonable quote for his services. Tom gathered the materials for the job quickly and began work a few days later. He pulled up my old carpet, installed the new carpeting, and painted the trim to better match my new carpeting. He also painted the trim around the doorways to the newly carpeted room the same color, and did some touch up painting on the door itself. Tom finished the job ahead of schedule and I could not have been more pleased with the work he had done. Everything was perfect and was done exactly how I wanted it. I would certainly recommend him to anyone as I will be using his services in the future. I had some negative experiences with other handymen in the past and I’m relieved to have found a reliable and competent hard worker for future household remodeling."

"The roofing crew worked very efficiently and finished in the time we agreed upon ....The structure of the roof needed alot of repair before shingles could be put on.....Mr Wright made sure all repairs were properly completed and made ready for the shingles. They did a beautiful job installing Architectural Shingles. We are very pleased, the job was very well done. The cost of the project was within the guidelines of the estimate that was quoted. Wright Roofing pricing was lower then competitive roofing companies."

"I was really surprised at the smooth process. Seems that working with a contractor is always a pain/inconvenient but NCB Solutions made everything easy-going. I would recommend them for any roofing or exterior home improvement needs. Also the owners are more than helpful, attentive, and hard-working."

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"Terminix came out to resolve the problems originating from their installation from early February. I was getting no response until our case was finally transferred to the Regional Manager (Dan). He brought his crew lead (Paul) and Rob to evaluate and fix the problem of the dry insulation getting into our full house attic fan. We wont know if this fixed the problem, but at least they responded and took time to find a solution. (Price, is buyer beware; but at least the work is done right by folks who worked really hrd in tough conditions. Thanks, Dan & Paul! Lou M."

"The crew was incredibly efficient. I had to watch how long it took a neighbor to get their roof redone to really appreciate how efficient the crew that did my roof really was. They were reasonably priced, and just to be clear, I didn't have the Gutter Helmet installed, only a regular screen on my gutters, so they don't just do Gutter Helmet installations."

"Promptly returned our phone call and came out for an estimate. Sent a written proposal quickly and started the job when they said they would. In fact, they called to start a day early! Very professional. Quality of work is impeccable. Cleaned the work space daily before they left. <br /> Don't bother going anywhere else for an estimate or work. This company is the best from start to finish. Actually recommended them for two other family members needing work done. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Fairmont, WV

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
