"LA Roofing did roof replacement and repair in my upstairs master bedroom closet. They came did my quote, started the work and very professional from start to finished work. I was very happy with there work, cleanness and on time. My next door was shocked at the quality work that he even got his roof replacement done. I would tell anyone, that I talk to to use them not questions or second thinking at all."

"Replacement of the main water line from meter to house, with additional cut-off valve close to house, went very well on Jan 29, at which time full payment was made. The repair/replace tub drain did not occur until Feb 12 due to evidence of snakes in the crawl space. This job was done to our satisfaction on Feb 12."

"I wanted to give a great review. The estimate went well and the pricing seemed fair. The owner indicated he had professionals in each renovation discipline (flooring, cabinets, plumbing, electrical, etc.). I needed LVP installed over concrete, a kitchen cabinet install completion (I tried, I failed), and a minor electrical issue addressed. The workers were nice and prompt. The same guy did floors and cabinets and attempted to fix the electrical issue. There weren't different guys for each element of the job as claimed. The cabinets and microwave install went very well. The electrical issue wasn't resolved. I was charged for a breaker and some labor. Turns out the load and lead on the GFCI just needed to be switched. It took an electrician I hired literally 45 seconds to fix it. Now, onto the flooring. THIS is where it really came off the rails. NO real surface prep was done. There are MAJOR flaws under the plank (serious bumps as though there are screw heads or chunks of concrete under which are popping up). Seams aren't tight. There is a random screw (just one) that looks like it was put in by the workers for who knows what reason. Just a general lack of quality workmanship. They have the potential to be a fine company but they need to treat EVERY single job as though their reputation depended on it (because it DOES). And don't claim to have expert workers in each discipline when it's really just one handyman. I just can't recommend them..."

"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

"When we purchased our new home we were having a hard time getting a loan because the roof was actively leaking. Mr. Campbell worked with us and the lender to put up temporary patches and get all of the paperwork done so we could purchase the house. When we finally were able to purchase the house we scheduled the work to be done 2 weeks later. He and his crew were professional when working and got the work done on schedule. He helped to reconfigure the roof to avoid further leaking issures and put all of the shingles in by hand to avoid the nails blowing out. He did an excellent job."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Florence, SC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
