"The job was a very lengthy job due to how much was being bricked. It was an extremely hard job due to the location and getting the flow properly done from the porch which was in the front of the house, winding all the way to the back along the garage and to the patio. They did a fantastic job on everything. It looks beautiful. I even called them back for a few repairs and they were prompt to get here and to take care any problems. I would definitely recommend Austin Brick Pavers to do your job!"

"I contracted DeGain Masonry to do a paver patio in my back yard. The finished project turned out better than I could have ever expected… very precise and meticulous. Clint was quick to return my calls, started and finished the project when promised and was more than accommodating in every way. I am a particular customer with high expectations of those I hire. That being said, I would highly recommend DeGain Masonry."

"The project turned out wonderfully! Our front garden walk and fountain area were transformed; they were very knowledgeable and easy to work with. They were able to level the area in order to divert pudding water away from the house. The end result was beautiful! We have since moved almost an hour away and have called on them once again to give us insight as to how to transform the garden areas and walkways at our new home."

"Marc and his team at Exotic Pavers completed, on a time, a fantastic paving job. Due to erosion, all the pavers had to be replaced in our front and back yards. The team was courteous, responsive to my requests, and careful with our landscaping and lawn. Marc offered great aesthetic recommendations, and estimated the job quite accurately. I had received 4 other bids for this job, and Marc's estimate and proposal was the most thorough. I would absolutely hire them again!"

"Contacted Dan and he responded back that day. The next day, he came out to give an estimate and we signed the contract. The week after, his crew efficiently repaired the masonry work on our front porch patio. He was very responsive, gave great advice and we are very satisfied with the work."

"The design turned out great, matches my back yard and house (house and yard are in typical late 90's early 2000's subdivision with vinyl sided houses). The installation was completed quickly and was high quality. The crews straightened up each day they left and did a full cleanup upon completion of project. Had more in the design than I was able to implement this year. I will be doing some of it myself this fall and will be calling Bay Landscaping back to complete more next year. I have been told that they are on the high side for pricing but it was worth every penny to me."

"The company went above and beyond with making sure all our questions were answered. They brought out pieces of all the pipe and tile that was being used and explained how everything was going to work. They were respectful with communicating the times they would be working, they were respectful not using any profanity while working. The job was done in a timely manner. The most impressive thing was that they replanted our rhubarb plant and replaced or upgraded any issues with our sprinkler system as they went along. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for help with any type of irrigation issues. Awesome job guys! Thank You!!!"

"I called Brian in May and he came out and surmised what we needed and wanted.  We had a standing water problem which was caused by water draining from neighbors into our lawn.  H&M Landscaping was the highest bid out of the three landscapers we talked to, but I felt he better understood the problem and how to solve it.  So he was our pick and we are so glad we made that decision.  We set a tentative start date. <br /> Brian brought a team of 8 guys here and they set to work...each one knowing what to do and how to do it, working simultaneously.  They worked up dirt in the rest of an 85' area, put in a surface French drain, and a 85' hard pipe drain with 1 12" bin and 2 4" direct drains.  They proceeded to reseed this area, after refilling the dirt into the trench.  They created a new area behind the shed to draw the shed into the total landscape.  They put down 10 yards of topsoil in the new garden area.  The guys  planted 7 arborvitae and 1 shrub (we bought) into this basically Hosta garden.  All of this 85' area was outlined in 12" rocks and then filled with black mulch.  They also planted a Rose of Sharon tree aside our deck. (We bought the tree).  Then they pulled out an old lilac tree in the front.  They had black mulch left over and were kind enough to put it on all my front and back garden around the base of the house.  <br /> I am very pleased with everything they did.  The guys were wonderful young men and conducted themselves accordingly.  They were here to please the customer.....me.  This crew cleaned up behind themselves....although black stain is on my driveway and on the street, which will take time to wear off.  I would not hesitate to use them again for any landscape need, and probably will.  In fact, I will never use a contractor who is not listed on Angie's List with reviews.  This was one of my better contractor experiences. <br /> <br />"

"I read many reviews here before calling Barkman Landscaping. After so much reading I felt I had a fairly good idea of what to expect price wise. When I called I was given an appointment for the very next day. The owner Mark Barkman comes to your place and walks around listening to your ideas. He takes measurements and makes notes. He then takes that information back and his people create a plan. And it is a beautiful plan. Mark was honest in telling me that some of the plants I would have liked would not grow due to the weather conditions, but had many alternate suggestions that would. Other than the plants that would not work for my area Mark gave me everything I wanted and then gave me more. He really listened to what I wanted. <br /> By initially contacting Barkman Landscaping early in April 2013 there was enough time to get HOA approval of the plan and the work was done in May. We are now enjoying a beautiful yard with plants that were planned to give seasonal beauty. <br /> Our patio has gone from blah to outstanding. The pavers Mark chose pick up the colors of the siding and blend in perfectly.  <br /> We wanted to attract birds and butterflies to our yard and that is happening. <br /> It is now July and we receive complements from our neighbors on a daily basis. People take walks or bike rides to come by and see the yard. Many people drive by very slow. At community gatherings when I meet someone for the first time and we talk about where we live they know the place with the gorgeous yard. We have had neighbors thank us for giving them such a nice view. One of the neighbors even said thank-you for doing it and letting people know it is ok to have so much done. ( We are in a fairly new community and no one has had so much done, most people just didn't realize they could. I tell them with the great plan and detailed layout that Mark gives you it's easy to get approval from the HOA.) <br /> Basically the job went smoothly. All the men were courteous and friendly. As the work progressed I found some things that I wanted done different. That was no problem, it was done to my satisfaction. Our condo had existing landscaping across the front, Mark created a design that tied the new into the existing so it looks as if it was all done at one time. Some of the plants are: <br /> Hydrangeas, boxwood, forsythia, lilies, butterfly bush, cranberry viburnum, 2 different grasses, spirea, swamp rose mallow, hick's yew, elijah blue fescue, bloodstone armeria, weigela, and a shadeblow serviceberry.  At one side of the patio Mark suggested stepping stones to lead out to the grass. Hydrangea trees were put on each side of the  stepping stones, it looks amazing. A raised bed was  created in the back section where I can put in any other plants I might want to add. <br /> I was expecting the cost to be somewhere between $13-15,000. It was great for it to come in at $10,000. Definitely money well spent. I would highly recommend Barkman Landscaping. Whether you want a large job like we had or want to have something smaller or break up the project into sections to do some now and some later, Mark will work with you to create it."

FAQs for interlocking pavers for patios, walks & steps installation projects in Flushing, MI

To calculate your paver needs:

  • Determine how many pavers cover a square foot.

  • Determine how many square feet you need.

  • Add an additional 10% to 20% for breakage and waste.

  • Consider your pavers’ sizes.

Or, you can hire a local pro who you know will get the right measurements the first time. This way, you get your weekend back instead of spending it measuring square footage.

A pallet of pavers costs $300 to $700 on average, and each pallet covers 56 square feet. The exact price depends on the type, size, and quantity of pavers you choose. Buying in bulk can sometimes offer additional savings, especially for larger projects. Ask your pro how you can save on material costs.

To get the best prices on pavers:

  • Hire a professional landscaper: Pros often receive discounts on materials, which can make hiring them more cost-effective overall.

  • Shop at local building supply stores: Check for overstock or bulk purchase deals. Bulk purchasing can be more costly up front but save you money in the long run.

  • Buy directly from manufacturers: Purchasing from a local brickyard or paver factory can offer competitive prices, especially for large quantities.

The main difference between driveway pavers and patio pavers is their load-bearing capacity. Driveway pavers are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, whereas patio pavers aren’t suitable for such heavy loads. You can use driveway pavers for a patio, but using patio pavers for a driveway could lead to damage. Always check the weight limits of pavers and consult with a professional installer to choose the right type for your project.

Paver patios cost more than concrete patios because the materials and installation methods require advanced techniques and skilled labor. They deliver enhanced aesthetic appeal and allow for easier small‑scale repairs without affecting property taxes. The higher expense arises from premium paver materials and intricate installation processes that deliver long‑lasting durability and design flexibility. This robust solution provides notable benefits over concrete alternatives, making it a valuable investment for homeowners.
