"Office people are very polite and helpful on the phone. The roof was inspected and the estimate for repairs and maintenance was provided in mid-June. This was a small job, so they gave us an estimate of timing and worked us in when they could. The company experienced some minor delays due to weather. They did an excellent job of communicating this to us via email. The work was done in early August, which was close to the timing they had projected. A good experience with a great firm! I highly recommend Hollingsworth Roofing."

"We are thrilled with Eason Roofing who professionally managed every single aspect of our roofing projects from initial call to quote to materials selection to completed job to clean up and follow up. In addition we were made to feel personally connected to the company by the attention we were given by Ben Eason. Ben freely shared his knowledge and expertise from many years of experience in the roofing business but also went out of his way to offer helpful advice with other projects, like our HVAC, where he has years of experience as well. The customer service was above and beyond what we've experienced with other roofing contractors in the area and we would highly recommend calling Eason first. Thank you Eason Roofing for a job well done!"

"Best Roofing Now replaced my roof 8 months ago, and I am still pleased with the job they did. I originally contracted with them because they impressed me with their detailed knowledge of not only roofs but also how roofs work with the attic and house for proper ventilation. They took the time to reconfigure the venting in my attic instead of just slapping on a roof. James and Nic were pleasant, knowledgeable, and nice to work with — and they price they charged was more reasonable than others. I recommend them."

"Southern Star is the only group I'll consider to do work on my roof. Their team is well-trained in customer service as they collaborate with customers in an efficient manner with the utmost respect. They are not the type to persuade you to make an insurance claim for a new roof or suggest repairs you do not need. They are honest and transparent about their quotes and flexible on pricing to an extent. Once they offer the quote, they allow you to follow up with them when you are ready as opposed to the constant bombardment of calls from other entities. My favorite part about Southern Star is they openly welcome text/phone calls with questions. Roofing repair is something Southern Star wants you to be comfortable with and knows you as the home owner do not take it lightly. Finally, they will come out to ensure a quality check on the work provided as their personal guarantee. I wish working with other industries on home improvement was as smooth and simple as working with Southern Star!"

"We had an inspection done on 25Jul24, complete with a shared gallery of pictures taken by a roof Medic project manager. The project manager reviewed the pictures, showing my wife and myself the damage and what would be corrected. By September we began questioning (multiple times) for a timeline on the roof replacement, finally to be told bigger jobs were taking priority. Once the job started, middle Nov24, we were called no less than 3 times requesting additional money by the project manager saying the insurance company was not paying for the additional damage they found. When asked if insurance had been contacted we were told no they weren’t. When the roof install was completed by Roof Medic there were several areas that were noted in Roof Medic pictures in Jul24 that were damaged and we were told would be corrected by the project manager that were not corrected. When asked the project manager stated that insurance would pay for that damage. The day after completion the project manager called and asked that we pay the invoice without a review of the finish project. When we asked the project manager about the interior damage he asked if we wanted to deal directly with the subcontractor as he acknowledged the issues with Roof Medic we had during this ordeal. We agreed and took the name of the subcontractor and paid the bill. We called our insurance SafeCo to determine the path forward with the interior subcontractor, only to be told that 1100.00 of what was charged on the invoice by Roof Medic was for the interior subcontractor. We were also told that additional money was requested and was awarded, this is contrary to what was told to us all along the install by the project manager, as we were also paying out of our pockets additional money. We have had no reply from emails sent over a week to voice our concerns."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Gastonia, NC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
