"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

"Southwest Sunroom did a fantastic job from start to finish. The sales representative was available immediately and through the process. The installation was perfect. The two man crew were courteous, clean, professional and did a great job. I have my new door and side lights."

"I am very impressed with the professionalism and workmanship of Mike and his crew (James & Lonnie)?.  Despite the terrible weather, they were always punctual and hard-working during all times on site ?. I was somewhat impressed with how the team worked together,,,,, all had a piece of the puzzle and they seemed to support each other with little needed communication,,, things always seeming to be handed off as needed ?. to me, a sure sign of experience and competency ?? <br /> Beyond being a pleasant group of guys, everyone was patient and willing (an capable) to answer all questions about how, why, when, etc of the work they were doing ?.  <br /> Their attention to details was another item that impressed me ?. I know little about roofing and they could have easily had skipped tons of stuff, but they took no shortcuts and instead pointed out to me a few extra features of their craft which they included that gave me a warm fuzzy, and even made me wonder if they had done the original roof, would we have had the leaks that we did ?.. <br /> Overall, I would definitely recommend "Robertson Roofing, Inc" ?? While they might not be the cheapest alternative, if you believe in the old adage, "you get what you pay for" ? then I truly believe that you will be dollars ahead in the future with these guys ?... <br /> <br />"

"When I called to schedule an inspection, the original date was about a week out. When they became aware that we had a current leak, they adjusted schedules to arrive the next day. The inspection and recommendations were very thorough and professional. Although we decided to not proceed with All Phase Roofing for this project, we would highly recommend them if you are in need of any roof work."

"<p>Because this was a partial or small job the date to do it was a moving target. Brad Barber was good about keeping in touch. This did well for me because I could have figured I was lost in the que. Brad did not come to the job while it was in progress but the crew leader had all the details including an extra request to nail down a pop up in the middle of the original roofing .</p> <p>Replacement of J channel and flashing at certain points was done </p> <p>with care, good product and looked well . The crew cleaned up all rubbish before leaving. I took a walk around with the crew leader and all work promised was completed. </p> <p>Money was never an issue. Nothing down and all labor and product was billed to me after the job was finished.</p> <p>The total job was 400 dollars less then Lynchburg Roofing and included small additional amounts of work. You can't</p> <p>beat that.</p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <p> Thank You BTB Construction. </p> <p>P.S. </p> <p>I'm going to have Brad give me an estimate on replacing windows in the near future.</p> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Gladys, VA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
