"We have used TLM for years to mow our lawn bi-weekly and bring leaves to the street for pickup by the town each autumn. The crew is uniformly punctual, polite, skilled and professional in every way. This is why hiring local businesses is the way to go. Thank you Total Lawn Management for great service. "

"After many failed attempts to find a responsive and reliable lawn care professional, my husband approached Mike, who was working on a very nice yard in our neighborhood. He told Mike about our dreadful, brown front yard, and Mike agreed to come over the next day and look at what was going on. He arrived as promised, looked at the situation, and explained (with visual proof) what our problem was. Then he gave us 2 good options for fixing it, with a price for each that was far more reasonable than another local lawn care person we had talked to about the same problem. Upon discussion, he suggested that the less expensive option would actually be a fine solution for us, so no hard sell. <br /> My husband felt very good about working  with Mike and so we hired him. Although he has only done the one job so far, we were both very impressed by several things about working with him and his crew: First of all, the work they did is excellent. Added to that was how prompt and professional they were,  how clean they left the front of our home looking despite doing very messy work, and how pleasant they all were. Mike did exactly what he promised to do when he promised to do it, and we are already discussing the next project we would like him to tackle. <br />"

"The work was superb! Cand B's Master Gardener designed the gardens with an excellent eye toward beauty and ease of maintenance. I got to go with Crystal to choose the plants I liked out of the ones she suggested in the design. Really, her expertise and creativity made it easy. I kept saying I like everything you've recommended, you decide as the expert the plants that are most useful and maintenance free. And, she did. <br /> <br /> The team worked diligently to complete the work and willingly suggested they could return if hurricane Irene did damage. Not even the mulch was unduly disturbed, the garden was planted so well! Cand B are going to be the company who will open the garden and close it; prune our trees and other plants as needed; and give us excellent advice on the lawn."

FAQs for lawn care aeration projects in Granby, CT

Aeration is the best way to keep your lawn healthy and vibrant. Annual aeration makes your lawn more breathable and helps nutrients reach the roots, improving water absorption and reducing puddles where pests might breed. However, timing matters. It's best to avoid aerating during droughts, extreme heat, or if your lawn is battling weeds. A local pro can help you determine the ideal time for your yard.

Most lawns benefit from annual aeration to keep them healthy and thriving. If your lawn has a lot of thatch buildup—more than half an inch—you might need to aerate twice a year for a couple of years to get it under control. But if your soil isn't compacted and there's minimal thatch, you might be able to skip a year.

When you hire a professional lawn care company, a standard 10,000-square-foot lawn takes about 30 minutes to aerate. Uneven, sloped, or especially large lawns can take significantly more time. So, depending on your lawn's size and condition, the process can take anywhere from half an hour to several hours.

The best time to aerate your lawn is during the spring or fall when your grass is actively growing and the soil has enough moisture. Aerating once in the spring and once in the fall yields the best results. Avoid aerating when your lawn is dormant or right after heavy rain when the soil is too wet—that can make aeration less effective.

Even if your lawn looks healthy, aeration can still be beneficial. If you have good growth, proper drainage, and little thatch, you might not need to aerate right away. Regular aeration helps water and nutrients reach the roots, keeping your lawn strong over time. Keep an eye on your lawn's condition to decide when it might need aeration.
