System Pavers is the nation’s leading outdoor remodeling company, thanks to award-winning customer service and more than 30 years of experience behind every install. With every project backed by industry-leading warranties, over 90,000 homeowners have trusted System Pavers to create beautiful, easy-to-maintain outdoor spaces where family and friends can connect for generations. System Pavers’ visionary designers and expert installation teams specialize in hardscapes, patios, driveways, turf, outdoor kitchens, BBQ islands, water features, fire features, decking, and more.

"Our journey began in 2012 when my bride and I went to the Napa Home & Garden show where we met the folks from System Pavers. We enjoyed the conversation we had with the employees there and set up an appointment for an in-home consultation. Being first time home buyers, we couldn’t wait to see what was in store. We met Chris Murray who showed us the wide paver selections that they offered, and we decided on an overall look that was really exciting. The completed project estimate at that time was more than we could afford, so we scaled it back by just having the patio built. The patio turned into phase one of our backyard project. I kept in touch with Chris throughout the years and when we could finally afford to complete our backyard project and scheduled a time to have Chris return in 2017. When he stopped by he had the original plans that we drew out back in 2012. We reviewed the design again and discussed some new paver options for our retaining wall, lighting and fire pits. We also spent a long while trying to figure out the best color scheme. Chris shored his opinion with us and didn’t push the things he felt we didn’t need. You don’t see that very often in a salesperson. Before work began, I meet Michael Silva who is the project manager for our area. Michael and I went through the drawn project so that he and I were on the same page. He made some suggestions that I never covered with Chris and discussed how each item would be assembled. The time he took to go over all the plans made me feel at ease with how everything would turn out. Work began in the first week of May where I had the pleasure of meeting Michaels crew. Three very hard-working men who extremely professional. They took the time to answer any and all questions that I had regarding their processes, especially when it came to the retaining wall. As the project progressed, we ran into a few unforeseen design snags. The first snag was our initial patio, apparently over time the patio became unlevel due to ground settling, so they removed and repaired the entire patio (warranty). The second snag was our fences that we share with our neighbors on both sides. There seemed to be a pretty significant incline to the fence that we couldn’t see from the start due to the weed growth. Michael was very responsive; he laid out all the appropriate options and walked me through what each would look like. During the last few days of the project, and seeing how it all came together, the overwhelming joy of seeing the backyard of our dreams makes me extremely thankful that we met the folks at System Pavers. While our project was a long time in the making, we now have a place where our daughter can run and play and a place to hang out with family and friends. Thank you Michael, your amazing crew, and System Pavers for all that you do. Five star from start to finish."

We first began building gardens in California in 1970. In 1982 we moved to Nevada County, California, where we remain today. As a small, family-owned business, our primary focus has been custom residential landscaping. However, we have done both public and commercial jobs, as well as ecological restoration and small scale agricultural and horticultural development. Long ago we determined not to grow our company beyond the point where we, as owners, could not actively participate in field work on a daily basis. This practice allows us to consistently turn out individual, well-crafted projects. Our work continues today on a local and regional basis, from Lake Tahoe to the Pacific. We have an ongoing commitment to improve our craft both technically and aesthetically.

FAQs for lawn care maintenance and mowing projects in Grass Valley, CA

Hiring a professional saves you time and can actually save you money in the long run. Without regular care, your lawn might develop problems like thatch buildup, diseases, or pests, which can be expensive to fix. A pro keeps your lawn healthy, so you can enjoy it without the hassle.

Mowing your lawn yourself is generally cheaper than paying someone to do it. While a lawn mower can cost between $80 and $2,500 depending on the type, professional mowing services charge between $30 and $80 per visit. Investing in your own mower means that over time, you can save money by handling the mowing yourself, especially if you maintain your lawn regularly.

While the wording may vary from company to company, lawn maintenance typically includes all the services that keep your current healthy lawn looking sharp. Think mowing, watering, weeding, and a spring or fall cleanup.

Lawn care digs a bit deeper. These packages may include services that elevate your lawn's health or address an issue throughout the year. Fertilization, pest and weed control, and dethatching all fall into this category.

There is no set-in-stone schedule for mowing your lawn, as each grass variety grows at a different rate depending on the season. Once you determine the type of grass in your lawn and its ideal height, aim to remove no more than the top third of the blade at a time to retain its healthy structure.

In the high growing season, this will likely break down to about once a week, which is why lawn care specialists often offer weekly plans.

Don’t mow your grass if it hasn’t grown more than one-third of its height since you last cut it. For example, if you want grass no more than 2 inches, don’t mow it until it’s 3 inches. Don’t cut your grass when wet, as it clumps together and places more stress on your mower’s blades and makes it harder for the sun to reach the turf. This can lead to mold or disease. Conversely, don’t mow when it’s too dry. But, if you do, be sure to raise your mower’s deck height by about half an inch to encourage slower growth.

Yes, landscaping can significantly add value to your home. High-quality landscape design offers a return on investment of 20% to 30%. A well-maintained lawn and attractive outdoor spaces enhance your property's curb appeal and market value, making it more appealing to potential buyers when you decide to sell.
